Front left seat controls The front seat head restraints are integrated

possible.
Forward/back: pull the lever and move
the seat forwards. The front seat must be
engaged when the lever is released!
Raising/lowering: pull the lever up or
push down (several times if necessary)
from its home position.
Tilting the backrest: pull the lever and
adjust the backrest seat angle until you
reach the desired position. The seat back-
rest must be engaged.
Folding/Raising (Easy Entry only in 3-
door vehicles): to fold, pull the lever and
at the same time move the seat forward.

The shoulder part of the seat belt should be
well centred over it, never over the neck. The
seat belt lies flat and fits comfortably on the
upper part of the body.
The lap part of the seat belt lies across the
pelvis, never across the stomach. The seat
belt lies flat and fits comfortably on the pel-
vis.


During a head-on, lateral or rear collision, the

Mounted child seats must rest correctly on
the vehicle's seat and must not move or rock
more than 2.5 cm.
Child seats equipped for a Top Tether strap
must also be secured using the Top Tether re- taining strap in the vehicle
››› page 20. At-
tach the retaining strap to the corresponding
retaining rings only. Not all rings can be used
with the Top Tether system. Always tighten
the Top Tether retaining strap so that the
child seat fits snugly against the correspond-
ing seat in the vehicle. Specific mounting systems for each country

The systems include the child restraint sys-

Securing the child seat using the seat belt

● Make sure the seat belt is not twisted.
● Insert the latch plate into the buckle for the
appropri
ate seat and push it down until it is
securely locked with an audible click.
● Ensure that the upper belt web lies tightly
on the chil
d seat.
● Pull the belt (it must be no longer possible
to pu
ll the lower belt webbing out).
Removing the child seat
The seat belt must not be unfastened until
the vehicle has come to a standstill.
● Press the red button on the buckle. The
latc
h plate is released from the buckle.
● Guide the belt back by hand so that it rolls
up eas
ily and the trim will not be damaged.

authorised bodyweight for the child seat. In child seats with uni-
versal or semi-universal approval, the class according to size is
indicated on the ECE approval label. The indication of class ac-
cording to size is stated on the corresponding child seat.
Child seats with rigid mounting
For the installation of a child seat with rigid
mounting auxiliary introduction elements can
be used. These elements facilitate fitting and
protect the upholstery. They form part of the
supply volume of the child seat or can be ac-
quired at a SEAT dealership. If necessary,
these elements are inserted in both anchor
points of the vehicle ››› in Safety instruc-

and severe injuries.
● Never ignore the warning lamps.
● Stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible.
● Park the vehicle away from traffic and en-
sure th

terials under the vehicle that could come into

grass, fuel).

for the driver and the passengers. The other
sections of the on-board documentation also

What affects driving safety? As a driver, you are responsible for yourself
and y

assengers. When your concentra-
tion or driving safety is affected by any cir-
cumstance, you endanger yourself as well as
others on the road ››› , for this reason:
– Always pay attention to traffic and do not

calls.
– Never drive when your driving ability is im-
paired (e.

– Observe traffic laws and speed limits.

Safety
Safety equipment Never put your safety or the safety of your
pa

sengers in danger. In the event of an acci-
dent, the safety equipment may reduce the
risk of injury. The following points cover part
of the safety equipment in your SEAT:
● three-point seat belts,
● belt tension limiters for the front seats,
● Belt tensioners for the front seats,
● front airbags,
● side airbags in the front seat backrests,
● “ISOFIX” anchor points for child seats in
the re ar s

ide seats with the “ISOFIX” system,
● rear head restraints with in-use position
and non-use pos
ition,
● adjustable steering column.
The safety
equipment mentioned above
works together to provide you and your pas-
sengers with the best possible protection in
the event of an accident. However, these
safety systems can only be effective if you
and your passengers are sitting in a correct
position and use this equipment properly.

sengers are shown below. If your physical constitution prevents you
from maint

aining the correct sitting position,
contact a specialised workshop for help with
any special devices. The seat belt and airbag
can only provide optimum protection if a cor-
rect sitting position is adopted. SEAT recom-
mends taking your car in for technical serv-
ice.
For your own safety and to reduce the risk of
injury in the event of an accident or sudden
braking or manoeuvre, SEAT recommend the
following positions:
Valid for the driver:
● Adjust the seat backrest to an upright posi-
tion so that
your back rests completely
against it.
● Adjust the seat so that there is a distance
of at l
east 25 cm between the steering wheel
and your chest ››› Fig. 64 and so that you can
hold the steering wheel with both hands on
the outside of the ring at the 9 o'clock and 3
o'clock positions with your arms slightly
bent.
● The adjusted steering wheel must face your
ches
t and not your face.
● Adjust the driver seat forwards or back-
ward
s so that you are able to press the accel-
erator, brake and clutch pedals to the floor
with your knees slightly angled and the dis-
tance between your knees and the dash pan-
el is at least 10 cm ››› Fig. 64.
