Activation of CD playback modeCD
NO CD Activation of
CD disc loading mode LOAD Your radio is fitted with a built- in changer for 6
CD- DA, CD- R, CD- RW discs containing MP3
or audio files.
The CD drive used in this radio is operated in a
completely different fashion than common CD
car stereos. Do not attempt to load a disc
unless instructed to do so on the display. First,
read the instructions describing proper loading
of a CD. The radio or the disc can be damaged
when these instructions are not followed.
While
listening to the radio, press button . If no
CD is inserted, you will be notified of the fact by message. In this case, follow the
instructions given in the chapter . If a CD has been
inserted, playback starts from the point where
it has been interrupted the last time. 2

Follow the instructions when loading discs:
1. Press button
2. After message
appears, press preset button beside the
empty position labelled .
3. The drive prepares for insertion of a CD;
please wait (the display shows“ message).
4. When message appears, insert the disc with printed side up.
Press and hold button
To fill the changer. (You can insert up to 6 CDs in
sequence.) After message appears,
release the button and you will be prompted to
insert all discs in sequence.
After the last inserted CD is recognized and
read, playback begins. 17

ALL When replacing or ejecting the disc, observe
the instructions in this manual and on the radio
display:
1. Press button .
2. After “ ” message ap- pears, press preset button corres-
ponding to the disk you want to eject.
3. “ ” message appears and the drive prepares for ejection of selected disc.
4. Disc is being ejected and “ ” message appears. You can remove the disc.
5. After removing the disc, “ ” message appears and you can insert
another disc without having to press the
button
: Press and hold button to eject all
discs from the changer. After message appears, release the button.
If you do not remove ejected disc from the unit,
it will be drawn back to the unit automatically
for safety reasons. If no CD is inserted in the
changer, the unit switches to radio mode
automatically after 10s. 13

Seek buttons In CD playback mode, you can select a disc by
pressing a preset button labelled . Empty positions are labelled .
During CD playback, press button to skip
to previous track.
Press button to skip to next track. Playback
starts from the beginning of selected track.
Press and hold button or for fast rewind
or fast forward within a track of the CD. Normal
playback resumes after you release the button.

about currently played track and about the
folder. The radio will display track
and folder names in the format in which they
are stored on the MP3 CD.
Individual MP3 files are organized in a
hierarchy commonly used on personal
computers. Due to high number of tracks,
which can besaved to a disc, we recommend
use of folders to organize tracks.

Your radio has an external input allowing
playback from other audio sources.

Passage to the next level of settings
Your radio automatically increases the volume
with increasing drive speed so that perceived
volume does not change. The rate of increase
can be set by pressing preset button
and turning of button . Higher numbers mean
sharper increase. When 0 is set, the volume
does not change.
Sometimes, excess volume can distract you
when parking your car. If your car is fitted with
“parking aid” device, the radio will lower the
volume to preset level when the “parking aid”
unit is active. Press preset button
and turn button to set the volume level, to
which the volume will be reduced auto-
matically during parking.

input signal is strong enough.
Under certain circumstances, stereo sound is
interrupted and in low- quality, even if the
input signal is strong. This occurs for example
when driving in urban areas. You can turn off
the stereo decoder and listen to mono sound

want the radio backlight switched off when the
headlights are off. If you set , the volume knob
ring will be illuminated whenever the ignition is
on.
If your car is fitted with CLIMATRONIC unit, the
display of your radio will display any manual
change of the settings. This you can check
whether the change you performed was
accepted by the unit. If you want this
confirmation, press preset button and
set to .
Note: the display is only a setting aid. The radio
has no effect on climate unit control, and the
climate unit cannot be controlled from the
radio.
Your radio has an external input allowing

thus improving the clarity of speech.

radio can be muted automatically during
incoming or outgoing call. Activate this
