ECU
Immobilizer Indicator and Warning Lamp ▶
This indicator comes on when the ignition
key is communicating with the engine control
unit (during engine starting) and goes out
after starting the engine.
When turning the ignition key to ON position, the
ECU transmits the challenge message to the
immobilizer unit to verify whether the key is valid. (1)
Only when the two signals are identical, it
recognizes the key as the authorized one and
transmits the positive message to the ECU.
The ECU allows the engine to be started. (6)
(7)
Do not drop or shock to the transponder in the key as it may be damaged.
With a damaged transponder, the engine cannot be started.
When you erase the code or register an extra key, let the owner attend on the site.
In any case, the immobilizer system cannot be removed from the vehicle. If you attempt to
remove it and damage the system, starting will be impossible, so never attempt to remove,
damage or modify it.
The remote engine starter cannot be installed on the vehicle equipped with the immobilizer
system. -
-
-
-
-Lamp ON: in communication
Blinking twice for one second:
immobilizer system failure
Blinking once for two seconds:
immobilizer unit is not coded
The immobilizer indicator does not come
on if the communication time between
immobilizer key and ECU is too short.

2. CAUTIONS ON RAIN SENSOR
When the wiper switch is in the AUTO position, the wiper will operate for 1 cycle if the initial engine
start is made. This may cause the wiper blades to wear prematurely. Therefore, other than rainy
days, set the switch to the OFF position. Especially during the winter time, check if the wiper blades
are not frozen to the windshield.
Operating the wiper with the blades frozen can damage the wiper motor.
If you operate the wipers when the windshield is dry without spraying washer fluid, the windshield can
be scratched and the wiper blades can wear prematurely. Use the wiper with the washer fluid when
the windshield is dry.
When it does not rain, turn the wiper switch to the OFF position.
Turn the wiper switch to the OFF position before any car wash to avoid unwanted operation of the
wipers. -
-
-
-
When cleaning the windshield over the sensor with damp clothes, the wiper may operate suddenly.
It could cause serious injury. Make sure to place the wiper switch to the OFF position and ignition
switch OFF when not in use.
Irregular operation (abrupt operation) ▶
Check if the sensor is off the position.
Check if the rain sensor cover is securely installed.
Check if the customer is familiar to how to control the wiper sensitivity.
Check if the wiper sensitivity control is set to the FAST side (step 5).
Check the wiper blade for wear.
If the wiper blade cannot wipe the glass uniformly and clearly, it may cause the rain sensor to work
irregularly. Therefore, in this case, replace the wiper blade with a new one. -

▶ Rain sensing operation point
The wiper relay is turned on and the wiper motor runs one cycle when the ignition key is turned to
“ON” position (while the wiper switch is in “AUTO” position).
The wiper relay (LO) is turned on and the wiper motor runs one cycle when changing the wiper
switch to “AUTO” position from any other positions (while the ignition key is in “ON”
position). When the wiper switch is turned to “AUTO” position again from other positions,
the system drives the wiper relay (LO) to run the wiper motor one cycle only when the rain sensor
detects the “Rain Detected” signal. 1)
2)

08-8
The wiper relay is turned on and the wiper motor runs one cycle when the volume sensitivity is
increased (ex: from 0 to 1) (while the ignition key is in “ON” position, the wiper switch is in
“AUTO” position, and the wiper motor is in “Parked” position). However, the wiper motor can
be operated only when the rain sensor detects the “Rain Detected” signal.
▶ Rain sensing sensitivity control
If the volume sensitivity is changed more than 2 stages within 2 seconds, the wiper motor runs only
one cycle. *

The wiper system continuously outputs the parking signal of current sensitivity when the parking
terminal is grounded (while the ignition key is in “ON” position and the wiper switch is in
“AUTO” position). 1)
※ The wiper motor runs only when the rain sensor requires.
When the parking terminal is fixed to IGN (HIGH), the wiper system outputs the operating signal of
current sensitivity for 2 seconds, then continuously outputs the parking signal of current sensitivity. 2)
※ The wiper motor runs only when the rain sensor requires.

The wiper relay (LO) is turned on and the wiper motor runs one cycle when the wiper sensitivity is
changed to 2 from 1 during receiving the malfunction signal (3) from the rain sensor (while the
ignition key is in “ON” position and the wiper switch is in “AUTO” position). Also, the wiper
relay (LO) is turned on and the wiper motor runs one cycle when the wiper sensitivity is changed to
2 from 1 during receiving the ground fixed or IGN fixed signal from the rain sensor. 3)
The wiper relay (LO) is turned on and the wiper motor runs one cycle when the wiper sensitivity is
changed to 3 from 4 during receiving the malfunction signal (2) from the rain sensor (while the
ignition key is in “ON” position and the wiper switch is in “AUTO” position). 2)

2. CAUTIONS
The parking aid system is just a supplemental device to help your parking.
Always keep the safety precautions.
Do not press or shock the sensors by hitting or using a high-pressure water gun while washing,
since it may damage the sensors.
If the system is in normal operating condition, a short beep sounds when the shift lever is moved
into "R" position with the ignition key "ON".
If the system is defective, the warning buzzer sounds for 3 seconds when moving the gear shift
lever to “R” position with the ignition ON. Be careful not to confuse this and the parking aid
alarm (in 50 cm). 1.

5.
- Note that the display does not show everything in the rear area. Always check
nobody, especially animals and children, is behind the vehicle when parking or
reversing.
- If you can not properly check the vehicle behind, get out of the vehicle and then
visually check it.
The parking aid system will not work or improperly work under following cases: ▶
1) Certain obstacles that sensors can not detect
Thin and narrow objects, such as wires, ropes, chains
Cotton, sponge, clothes, snow; that absorb ultrasonic waves
Obstacles lower than the bumper (ex. drain ditch or mud puddle) -
-
-
2) Not defective but improperly working
When the sensing portion is frozen (operates normally after thawed)
When the sensing portion is covered by rain, water drops, snow or mud (operates normally after
cleaned)
When receiving other ultrasonic signals (metal sound or air braking noises from heavy commercial
vehicles)
When a high-power radio is turned on -
-
-
-
3) Narrowed sensing area
When the sensing portion is partially covered by snow or mud (operates normally after cleaned)
Surrounding temperature of sensor is too high (approx. over 80°C) or too low
(approx. below -30°C) -
-
4) Not defective but may cause malfunction
When driving on the rough roads, gravel road, hill and grass
When the bumper height is changed due to heavy load
When the sensing portion is frozen
When the sensing portion is covered by rain, water drops, snow or mud
When receiving other ultrasonic signals (metal sound or air braking noises from heavy commercial
vehicles)
When a high-power radio is turned on
When some accessories are attached in detecting ranges -

4. Self-diagnosis
PAS self-diagnosis mode (outputs warning beep via exterior buzzer) ▶
System enters into this mode when gear shifted "R" position after initial ignition ON
The self-diagnosis fails and the buzzer sounds under any of the following conditions: -
-
Open circuit in sensor (TX)
Open circuit in power wires (+ and -)
In the event of sensor failure itself a.
b.
c.
If normal, warning buzzer sounds for 0.065 seconds. -
