If you believe that your vehicle has a defect which could cause a
crash or could cause injury or death, you should immediately in form
the National Highway Traffic Saf ety Administration (NHTSA) in addi-
tion to notifying Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. (Toll-free: 1-800-
331-4331).
If NHTSA receives similar complaints, it may open an investigat ion,
and if it finds that a safety de fect exists in a group of vehic les, it may
order a recall and remedy campaign. However, NHTSA cannot
become involved in individual problems between you, your dealer ,
or Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

What to do if... (Troubleshooting)
●If you lose your mechanical keys, new genuine mechanical keys can be
made by your Toyota dealer. ( P. 129)
●If you lose your electronic keys, the risk of vehicle theft inc reases signifi-
cantly. Contact your Toyota dealer immediately. ( P. 131)
●Is the key battery weak or depleted? (P. 439)
●Is the power switch in ON mode?
When locking the doors, turn the power switch off. ( P. 191)
●Is the electronic key left inside the vehicle?
When locking the doors, make sure that you have the electronic key on
your person.
●The function may not operate properly due to the condition of t he radio
wave. ( P. 145)
●Is the child-protector lock set?
The rear door cannot be opened from inside the vehicle when the lock is
set. Open the rear door from outside and then unlock the child-protector
lock. ( P. 135)
●The function to prevent the electronic key from being left insi de the trunk
will operate and you can open the trunk as usual. Take the key out from the
trunk. ( P. 139)
If you have a problem, check the following before contacting
your Toyota dealer.
The doors cannot be locked, unlocked, opened or closed
You lose your keys
The doors cannot be locked or unlocked
The rear door cannot be opened
The trunk lid is closed with t he electronic key left inside

●Did you press the power switch while firmly depressing the brake pedal?

In this case, the hybrid system can be started in a temporary way.

●Is the power switch in ON mode?
If you cannot release the shift lever by depressing the brake p edal with the
power switch in ON mode. ( P. 203)
●It is locked automatically to prevent theft of the vehicle. ( P. 193)
●Is the window lock switch pressed?
The power window except for the one at the driver’s seat cannot be oper-
ated if the window lock switch is pressed. ( P. 167)
●The auto power off function will be operated if the vehicle is left in ACCES-
SORY or ON mode (the hybrid system is not operating) for a peri od of

If you think something is wrong
The hybrid system does not start
The shift lever cannot be shifted from P even if you depress

The steering wheel cannot be t urned after the hybrid system
is stopped
The windows do not open or close by operating the power
window switches
The power switch is turned off automatically

Depending on the situation, other types of warning buzzer may a lso sound.

●Did anyone inside the vehicle open a door during setting the al arm?
The sensor detects it and the alarm sounds. ( P. 82)
Do one of the following to stop the alarm:
• Unlock the doors.
• Open the trunk using the entry function or wireless remote con trol.
• Turn the power switch to ACCESSORY or ON mode, or start the hy brid
system.

●When a warning light turns on or a warning message is displayed , refer to
