When a light is on due to its door link switch, the light will not turn off
even if the lens or switch is pressed.

■Illuminated entry system
Vehicles without a smart key system
When the interior light switch is in the door position, the int erior light automat-
ically turns on/off according to the engine switch position, whether the doors
are locked/unlocked and whether the doors are open/closed.
Vehicles with a smart key system
When the interior light switch is in the door position, the int erior light and
engine switch light automatically turn on/off according to engine switch mode,
the presence of the electronic key, whether the doors are locke d/unlocked
and whether the doors are open/closed.
■ To prevent battery discharge
The following lights will go off automatically after 20 minutes :
● Front interior light/personal lights
● Rear interior light
● Trunk light
■ Customization
Setting (e.g. the time elapsed before lights turn off) can be c hanged.

To set the visor in the forward
position, flip it down.
To set the visor in the side posi-
tion, flip down, unhook, and
swing it to the side.
To use the side extender, place
the visor in the side position,
then slide it backward. (if
equipped)
Slide the cover to open.
The vanity light turns on when the
cover is opened.
If the vanity lights remain on for 20 minutes while the engine is off, the lights
will turn off automatically.
The clock can be adjusted.

When trouble arises

One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
● There may not be sufficient fuel in the vehicle’s tank.
Refuel the vehicle.
● The engine may be flooded.
Try to restart the engine again following correct starting proc edures.
( P. 171, 174)
● There may be a malf unction in the engine immobilizer system.
( P. 67)
One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
● The battery may be discharged. ( P. 526)
● The battery terminal connecti ons may be loose or corroded.
The engine starting system may be malfunctioning due to an elec trical
problem such as electronic key battery depletion or a blown fus e.
However, an interim measure is a vailable to start the engine.
( P. 522)
If the engine will not star t
If the engine will not start eve n though correct starting proce -
dures are being followed ( P. 171, 174), consider each of the fol-
lowing points:
The engine will not start even t hough the starter motor operates
normally.
The starter motor turns over slowly, the interior lights and he ad-
lights are dim, or the horn does not sound or sounds at a low
volume.
The starter motor does not turn over (vehicles with a smart key
system)

One of the following may be the cause of the problem:
● One or both of the battery t erminals may be disconnected.
● The battery may be discharged. ( P. 526)
● There may be a malfunction in the steering lock system (vehicles
with a smart key system).
Contact your Toyota dealer if the problem cannot be repaired, o r if repair
procedures are unknown.
When the engine does not start, the following steps can be used as an
interim measure to start the engine if the engine switch is fun ctioning
normally:
Set the parking brake.
Shift the shift lever to P (cont inuously variable transmission) or N
(manual transmission).
Turn the engine switch to ACCESSORY mode.
Press and hold the engine switch for about 15 seconds while
depressing the brake pedal and clutch pedal (manual transmissio n)
firmly.
Even if the engine can be start ed using the above steps, the sy stem
may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyot a
dealer.
The starter motor does not turn over, the interior lights and h ead-
lights do not turn on, o r the horn does not sound.
