Closing the fuel tank cap
When replacing the fuel tank
cap, turn it until a clicking sound
is heard.
After releasing your hand, the cap
will turn slightly to the opposite
direction.
Fuel types
EU area:
Unleaded gasoline conforming to European standard EN228, Research
Octane Number of 95 or higher
Except EU area:
Unleaded gasoline, Research Octane Number of 95 or higher
Use of ethanol blended gasoline in a gasoline engine
Toyota allows the use of ethanol blended gasoline where the ethanol content
is up to 10%. Make sure that the ethanol blended gasoline to be used has a
Research Octane Number that follows the above.
Fuel tank capacity
Approximately 32 L (8.5 gal., 7.0 Imp. gal.)
Fuel gauge
When filled with less than 10 L per refueling, the fuel gauge may not display
accurately.

Installing child restraints
Follow the child restraint system manufacturer’s instructions. Firmly
secure child restraints to the seats using a seat belt or ISOFIX rigid
anchors. Attach the top strap when installing a child restraint.
An ELR belt requires a locking
clip to install a child restraint
system.

Driving in the “M” position (vehicles with 7-Speed Sport
Sequential Shiftmatic mode)
By shifting the shift lever into the “M” position, 7 stages of gear can be
switched between.
Upshifting
Downshifting
Unless the shift lever is operated,
the gear displayed on the meter
cluster is fixed.
Shift position uses
*: To improve fuel consumption and reduce noises, set the shift lever in D
for normal driving.

If the shift lever cannot be shifted from P (P. 425)
Automatic gear shifting in 7-Speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic mode
Even when the gear position is fixed while driving, the gear step will be auto-
matically upshifted or downshifted by one step if the engine speed is too
high, or too low.
Downshifting restrictions warning buzzer (vehicles with 7-Speed Sport
Sequential Shiftmatic mode)
To help ensure safety and driving performance, downshifting operation may
sometimes be restricted. In some circumstances, downshifting may not be
possible even when the shift lever is operated. (The warning buzzer will
sound twice.)
If the “M” indicator is not displayed after shifting the shift lever to the
“M” position (vehicles with 7-Speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic mode)
If the display does not change to “M” on an occasion other than that
described above, it may indicate a malfunction in the transmission system.
Have your vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped professional immediately.
If the “M” indicator flashes (vehicles with 7-Speed Sport Sequential
Shiftmatic mode)
This may indicate a malfunction in the transmission system.

When the vehicle comes to a stop while driving with the shift lever in
the “M” position (vehicles with 7-Speed Sport Sequential Shiftmatic
mode)
When the vehicle comes to a stop, the transmission will be automatically
downshifted to the first step.
When the vehicle restarts, the transmission is in the first step.
When the vehicle is stopped, the transmission is fixed in the first step.

The Gear Shift Indicator display is a guide to help the driver achieve
improved fuel economy and reduced exhaust emissions within limits
of engine performance.

Gear Shift Indicator display
The Gear Shift Indicator may not be displayed when your foot is placed on
the clutch pedal.

mum acceleration is necessary.
