Ventilation
For best results, set controls to:
Fan speedÐ ºAUTOº
TemperatureÐ To the desired
temperature
Air intakeÐFRESH (outside air)
Air flowÐ ºAUTOº
Air conditioningÐOFF
Turning the fan speed selector knob to
ºAUTOº position turns on the air condition-
ing. At this time, the ºA/Cº button indicator
comes on regardless of whether or not the
ºA/Cº button is pressed in.
When the ºA/Cº button is not pressed in,
turning the fan speed selector knob to
ºOFFº or pressing in the ºA/Cº button
turns off the air conditioning system. Defogging

For best results, set controls to:

low temperature to
cool
Air intakeÐFRESH (outside air)
Air flowÐWINDSHIELD
Turning the air flow control knob to wind-
shield position turns on the defroster-
linked air conditioning. At this time, the
ºA/Cº button indicator comes on regard-
less of whether or not the ºA/Cº button is
pressed in. This is to clean up the front
view more quickly.
When the ºA/Cº button is not pressed in,
turning the air flow control knob to anoth-
er position turns off the air conditioning.
On humid days, do not blow cold air
on the windshieldÐthe difference be-
tween the outside and inside tempera-
tures could make the fogging worse. Defrosting

To heat the vehicle interior while de-
frosting the windshield, choose
floor/windshield air flow.

If air flow control is not satisfactory, check
the instrument panel vents. The instrument
panel vents may be opened or closed as
shown.

Fan speed selector
This button is used to turn the rear heater
system on and off, and adjust the fan
speed.
Pressing the button once adjusts the fan
speed to the ºLOº mode and twice
successionally adjusts the fan speed to
the ºHIº mode.
Temperature selector
Turn the knob to adjust the tempera-
tureÐto the right to warm, to the left to
cool.

Rear air conditioning on- off button
To turn the rear air conditioning on, press
the ºREARº button. To turn the rear air
conditioning off, press the button again.
ºAUTOº button
For automatic operation of the rear air
conditioning, press the ºAUTOº button. An
indicator light will illuminate to show that
the automatic operation mode has been
selected.
In the automatic operation mode, the rear
air conditioning selects the most suitable
fan speed and air flow according to the
temperature.
You may use manual controls if you want
to select your own settings.
To turn off the automatic operation, press
the ºOFFº button.
Fan speed selector
Press the buttons to adjust the fan speed.
In automatic operation, you do not have
to adjust the fan speed unless you desire
another fan speed mode.
Temperature selector
Move the lever to adjust the tempera-
tureÐto the right to warm, to the left to
cool.
ºOFFº button
Push the button to turn off the rear air
conditioning system.
Air flow selector
Press one of the buttons to select the
vents used for air flow. An indicator light
will illuminate to show which air flow
mode is being selected.
In automatic operation, you do not have
to select the air flow unless you desire
another air flow mode.
1. PanelÐ Air flows mainly from the roof
vents.
2. Bi- levelÐ Air flows from both the floor
vents and the roof vents.
3. FloorÐ Air flows mainly from the floor
vents.
