Driving
■Tire chain installation
Observe the following precautions when installing and removing chains:
● Install and remove tire chains in a safe location.
● Install tire chains on the front tires only. Do not install tir e chains on the rear
tires.
● Install tire chains on front tires as tightly as possible. Retighten chains after
driving 1/4 - 1/2 mile (0.5 - 1.0 km).
● Install tire chains following the instructions provided with the tire chains.
WARNING
■Driving with snow tires
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of accidents.
Failure to do so may result in a loss of vehicle control and ca use death or
serious injury.
● Use tires of the specified size.
● Maintain the recommended level of air pressure.
● Do not drive in excess of 75 mph (120 km/h), regardless of the type of
snow tires being used.
● Use snow tires on all, not just some wheels.
■ Driving with tire chains
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of accidents.
Failure to do so may result in the vehicle being unable to be d riven safely,
and may cause death or serious injury.
● Do not drive in excess of the speed limit specified for the tir e chains being
used, or 30 mph (50 km/h), whichever is lower.
● Avoid driving on bumpy road surfaces or over potholes.
● Avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shifting
operations that cause sudden engine braking.
● Slow down sufficiently before entering a curve to ensure that vehicle con-
trol is maintained.
● Do not use LTA (Lane Tracing Assist) (if equipped).
■ When parking the vehicle
When parking the vehicle without applying the parking brake, ma ke sure to
chock the wheels. If you do not chock the wheels, the vehicle m ay move
unexpectedly, possibly resulting in an accident.

• When a buzzer sounds simultaneously:Indicates a malfunction has occurred in the PCS (Pre-
Collision System).
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately.
• When a buzzer does not sound: The PCS (Pre-Collision System) has become temporar-
ily unavailable, corrective action may be necessary.
Follow the instructions dis played on the multi-infor-
mation display. ( P. 289, 605)
If the PCS (Pre-Collision System) or VSC (Vehicle Stability
Control) system is disabled, the PCS warning light will illu-
minate.

When trouble arises
■If a message that indicates the malfunction of front camera is displayed
The following systems may be suspended until the problem shown in the
message is resolved. ( P. 289, 588)
● PCS (Pre-Collision System) (if equipped)
● LTA (Lane Tracing Assist) (if equipped)
● AHB (Automatic High Beam) (if equipped)
● RSA (Road Sign Assist) (if equipped)
● Dynamic radar cruise control with full-speed range (if equipped )
■ If a message that indicates the m alfunction of radar sensor is displayed
The following systems may be suspended until the problem shown in the
message is resolved. ( P. 289, 588)
● PCS (Pre-Collision System) (if equipped)
● LTA (Lane Tracing Assist) (if equipped)
● Dynamic radar cruise control with full-speed range (if equipped )
■ If “Radar Cruise Control Unavailable See Owner’s Manual” is sho wn
The dynamic radar cruise control with full-speed range system is suspended
temporarily or until the problem shown in the message is resolv ed. (causes
and coping methods: P. 289)

The dynamic radar cruise control with full-speed range system c annot be
used temporarily. Use the system when it becomes available agai n.
■ If “Maintenance Required Soon” is displayed (U.S.A. only)
Indicates that all maintenance according to the driven distance on the mainte-
nance schedule

Comes on approximately 4500 miles (7200 km) after the message has been
reset.
If necessary, perform maintenance. Please reset the message aft er the main-
tenance is performed. ( P. 502)

WARNING
■When using the compact spare tire (if equipped)
●Remember that the spare tire provided is specifically designed for use
with your vehicle. Do not use yo ur spare tire on another vehicle.
●Do not use more than one compact spare tire simultaneously.
●Replace the spare tire with a st andard tire as soon as possible .
●Avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shift-
ing operations that cause sudden engine braking.
■When the compact spare tire is attached (if equipped)
The vehicle speed may not be co rrectly detected, and the following sys-
tems may not operate correctly:
Also, not only can the following system not be utilized fully, but it may
even negatively affect the drive-train components:

■Speed limit when using the co mpact spare tire (if equipped)
Do not drive at speeds in excess of 50 mph (80 km/h) when a com pact
spare tire is installed on the vehicle.
The compact spare tire is not designed for driving at high spee ds. Fail-
ure to observe this precaution may lead to an accident causing death or
serious injury.
■After using the tools and jack
Before driving, make sure all t he tools and jack are securely i n place in
their storage location to reduce the possibility of personal in jury during a
collision or sudden braking.
