The units used on the meter and some indicators may differ depend-
ing on the target region.
Warning lights and indicators
The warning lights and indicators on the instrument cluster
inform the driver of the status of the vehicle’s various system s.
For the purpose of explanation, t he following illustration dis-
plays all warning lights a nd indicators illuminated.

*: These lights turn on when the power switch is turned to the “ON” position
(vehicles without a smart key system) or the power switch is tu rned to ON
mode (vehicles with a smart key system) to indicate that a system check is
being performed. They will turn off after the hybrid system is on, or after a
few seconds. There may be a malfunction in a system if a light does not
come on, or turn off. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.

(vehicles without a smart key system) or the power switch is tu rned to ON
mode (vehicles with a smart key system) to indicate that a system check is
being performed. They will turn off after the hybrid system is on, or after a
few seconds. There may be a malfunction in a system if a light does not

*2: The light flashes to indicate that the system is operating.
*3: This light turns on when the system is off.
*4: When the outside temperature is approximately 37°F (3°C) or lo wer, the
indicator will flash for approximately 10 seconds, then stay on .

■If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light suc h as the ABS or SRS warning lig ht not
come on when you start the hybrid system, this could mean that these sys-
tems are not available to help protect you in an accident, whic h could result
in death or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately if this occurs.

The brightness of the instrument panel lights can be adjusted by turn-
ing the dial.

■ The brightness of the instrument panel lights
When the tail lights are turned on, the brightness will be redu ced slightly
unless the control dial is turned up fully.
■ Outside temperature display
●In the following situations, the correct outside temperature ma y not be dis-
played, or the display may take longer than normal to change.
• When stopped, or driving at low speeds (less than 16 mph [25 k m/h])
• When the outside temperature has changed suddenly (at the entr ance/
exit of a garage, tunnel, etc.)
● When “ ” or “E” is displayed, the system may be malfunctioning.
Take your vehicle to your Toyota dealer.
■ Engine speed
On hybrid vehicles, engine speed is precisely controlled in ord er to help
improve fuel efficiency and reduce exhaust emissions etc.
There are times when the engine speed that is displayed may dif fer even
when vehicle operation and driving conditions are the same.

■ If you lose your keys
New genuine keys can be made by your Toyota dealer using the ot her keys
(including mechanical key) and the key number stamped on your k ey number
plate. Keep the plate in a safe place such as your wallet, not in the vehicle.
■ When riding in an aircraft
When bringing a key with wireless remote control function onto an aircraft,
make sure you do not press any buttons on the key while inside the aircraft
cabin. If you are carrying the key in your bag etc., ensure tha t the buttons are
not likely to be pressed accidentally. Pressing a button may cause the key to
emit radio waves that could interfere with the operation of the aircraft. When is pressed for longer than
about one second, an alarm will sound
intermittently and the vehicle lights will
flash to deter any person from trying to
break into or damage your vehicle.
To stop the alarm, press any button on
the wireless remote control.
