WARNING
QProper inflation is critical to save tire performance
Keep your tires properly inflated.
If the tires are not properly inflated, the following condition s may occur
which could lead to an accident resulting in death or serious i njury:
O Excessive wear
O Uneven wear
O Poor handling
O Possibility of blowouts resulting from overheated tires
O Air leaking from between tire and wheel
O Wheel deformation and/or tire damage
O Greater possibility of tire damage while driving (due to road hazards,
expansion joints, sharp edges in the road, etc.)
NOTICE
Q When inspecting and adjusting tire inflation pressure
Be sure to put the tire valve caps back on.
If a valve cap is not installed, dirt or moisture may get into the valve and
cause an air leak, resulting in decreased tire inflation pressu re.

Wheels
When replacing wheels, care should be taken to ensure that they are
equivalent to those removed in load capacity, diameter, rim width and
inset
*.
Replacement wheels are available at any authorized Toyota retailer or
Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
*: Conventionally referred to as “offset”.
Toyota does not recommend using the following:
OWheels of different sizes or types
OUsed wheels
OBent wheels that have been straightened
OUse only Toyota wheel nuts and wrenches designed for use with
your aluminum wheels.
OWhen rotating, repairing or changing your tires, check that the
wheel nuts are still tight after driving 1600 km (1000 miles).
OBe careful not to damage the aluminum wheels when using tire
chains.
OUse only Toyota genuine balance weights or equivalent and a plas-
tic or rubber hammer when balancing your wheels.
If a wheel is bent, cracked or heavily corroded, it should be
replaced. Otherwise, the tire may separate from the wheel or
cause a loss of handling control.

QWhen replacing wheels
The wheels of your vehicle are equipped with tire pressure warn ing valves
and transmitters that allow the tire pressure warning system to provide
advance warning in the event of a loss in tire inflation pressu re. Whenever
wheels are replaced, tire pressure warning valves and transmitt ers must be
installed. ( P. 601)
WARNING
QWhen replacing wheels
O Do not use wheels that are a different size from those recommended in the
Owner’s Manual, as this may resu lt in a loss of handling control.
O Never use an inner tube in a leaking wheel which is designed for a tube-
less tire. Doing so may result in an accident, causing death or serious
injury.
Q When installing the wheel nuts
Never use oil or grease on the wheel bolts or wheel nuts.
Oil and grease may cause the wheel nuts to be excessively tight ened, lead-
ing to bolt or disc wheel damage. In addition, the oil or greas e can cause the
wheel nuts to loosen and the wheel may fall off, causing an acc ident and
resulting in death or serious injury. Remove any oil or grease from the wheel
bolts or wheel nuts.
Q Use of defective wheels prohibited
Do not use cracked or deformed wheels.
Doing so could cause the tire to leak air during driving, possi bly causing an
accident.
NOTICE
Q Replacing tire pressure warning valves and transmitters
O Because tire repair or replacement may affect the tire pressure warning
valves and transmitters, make sure to have tires serviced by an y autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any rel iable repairer
or other qualified service shop. In addition, make sure to purc hase your
tire pressure warning valves and transmitters at any authorized Toyota
retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repaire r.
O Ensure that only genuine Toyota wheels are used on your vehicle.
Tire pressure warning valves and transmitters may not work prop erly with
non-genuine wheels.

Replacing the tire
OStop the vehicle in a safe place on a hard, flat surface.
OSet the parking brake.
OShift the shift position to P.
OStop the hybrid system.
When raising your vehicle with a jack, position the jack cor-
rectly.
Improper placement may damage your vehicle or cause injury.

QUsing the tire jack
Observe the following precautions.
Improper use of the tire jack may cause the vehicle to suddenly fall off the
jack, leading to death or serious injury.
O Only use the tire jack that comes with this vehicle for replacing a tire.
Do not use it on other vehicles, and do not use other tire jack s for replac-
ing tires on this vehicle.
O Do not raise the vehicle while someone is inside.
O Do not use the tire jack for any purpose other than replacing tires or install-
ing and removing tire chains.
O Do not put any part of your body under the vehicle while it is supported by
the jack.
O Do not start the hybrid system or drive the vehicle while the vehicle is sup-
ported by the jack.
O When raising the vehicle, do not put an object on or under the jack.
O Do not raise the vehicle to a height greater than that required to replace
the tire.
O Use a jack stand if it is necessary to get under the vehicle.
O When lowering the vehicle, make sure that there is no-one near the vehi-
cle. If there are people nearby, warn them vocally before lower ing.
Q When removing the jack from the storage location
The jack may be hot due to heat from the charging equipment dur ing or
after charging. Please use gloves when handling the jack. If it is touched
with bare hands, it may result in burns.
O Put the jack properly in its jack point.

Open the back door. (P. 2 7 8 )
Lift the deck under box cover
up and take out the tool bag.
Open the tool bag and then take out the jack handle and wheel n ut
wrench.
After using the tools, stow them by reversing the steps listed.

Pull the cover to disconnect the
tabs, and remove the cover.
Turn the portion to loosen
the jack, and slowly take out the
jack.
Be careful when handling the jack,
as it may become hot depending
on conditions. (P. 614)
If the portion can not be loos-
ened, turn it using the jack handle.

Chock the tires.
Slightly loosen the wheel nuts
(one turn).
Turn the tire jack portion by
hand until the center of the
recessed portion of the jack is
in contact with the center of the
jack point.

Assemble the jack handle and
the wheel nut wrench as shown
in the illustration.
Raise the vehicle until the tire is
slightly raised off the ground.
Remove all the wheel nuts and
the tire.
When resting the tire on the
ground, place the tire so that the
wheel design faces up to avoid
scratching the wheel surface.
