Power windows
The power windows can be opened and closed using the switches.
Operating the switch moves the windows as follows:Closing

: To stop the window partway, oper- ate the switch in the opposite direc-
tion.
Press the switch down to lock the
passenger windows.
Use this switch to prevent children
from accidentally opening or clos-
ing a passenger window.
Press the switch again to unlock
the passenger windows.
■ The power windows can be operated when
The power switch is in ON mode.
■ Operating the power windows afte r turning the hybrid system off
The power windows can be operated for approximately 45 seconds even
after the power switch is turned to ACCESSORY mode or turned off. They
cannot, however, be operated once either front door is opened.
■ Up jam protection function
If an object becomes caught between the window and the window frame, win-
dow travel is stopped and the window is opened slightly.

Observe the following precautions.
Failing to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■ Closing the windows
●The driver is responsible for all t he power window operations, including the
operation for the passengers. In order to prevent accidental operation,
especially by a child, do not let a child operate the power windows. It is
possible for children and other passengers to have body parts caught in
the power window. Also, when riding with a child, it is recommended to use
the window lock switch. ( →P. 186)
● When exiting the vehicle, turn the power switch off, carry the key and exit
the vehicle along with the child. T here may be accidental operation, due to
mischief, etc., that may possibly lead to an accident.
■ Up jam protection function
●Never use any part of your body to intentionally activate the up jam protec-
tion function.
● The up jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just
before the window fully closes.
■ Down jam protection function
●Never allow passengers to use hands, arms, cloths, etc., to intentionally
activate the down jam protection function.
● The down jam protection function may not work if a foreign object gets
caught just before the window completely opens. Be careful not to get
hands, arms, clothes, etc., caught in the window.
●Check to make sure that all passengers
do not have any part of their body in a
position where it could be caught when
a window is being operated.

WARNING
Observe the following precautions.
Failing to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■ When closing the panoramic roof shades
■ Jam protection function
●Never try jamming any part of your body to activate the jam protection
function intentionally.
● The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just
before the panoramic roof shades fully close.
■ To prevent burns or injuries
Do not touch the gaps between the underside of the roof and the panoramic
roof shades.
Your hand may get caught and you could injure yourself. Also, if the vehicle
is left in direct sunlight for a long time, the underside of the roof could
become very hot and could cause burns.
NOTICE
The panoramic roof is made of resin. Follow these precautions to prevent
damage to the roof.
●When cleaning the roof, use a mild soap and a soft cloth or sponge to
remove dirt, then wash clean with plenty of water. ( →P. 304)
● When loading luggage onto the roof, make sure to use a roof rack
designed for this vehicle. ( →P. 199)
●Check to make sure that all passengers
do not have any part of their bodies in a
position where they could be caught
when the panoramic roof shades are
being operated.
● Do not allow children to operate the
panoramic roof shades.

The meanings of each caution symbol on the top of the 12-volt battery
are as follows:
■Before recharging
When recharging, the 12-volt battery produces hydrogen gas which is flam-
mable and explosive. Therefore, obser ve the following precautions before
recharging:
● If recharging with the 12-volt battery installed on the vehicle, be sure to dis-
connect the ground cable.
● Make sure the power switch on the charger is off when connecting and dis-
connecting the charger cables to the 12-volt battery.
■ After recharging/reconnecting the 12-volt battery
●Unlocking the doors using the smart entry & start system may not be possi-
ble immediately after reconnecting the 12-volt battery. If this happens, use
the wireless remote control or the mechanical key to lock/unlock the doors.
● Start the hybrid system with the pow er switch in ACCESSORY mode. The
hybrid system may not start with the power switch turned off. However, the
hybrid system will operate normally from the second attempt.
● The power switch mode is recorded by the vehicle. If the 12-volt battery is
reconnected, the vehicle will return the power switch mode to the status it
was in before the 12-volt battery was disconnected. Make sure to turn off
the power before disconnect the 12-volt battery. Take extra care when con-
necting the 12-volt battery if the power switch mode prior to discharge is
unknown.
● Restart the hybrid system, depress the brake pedal, and confirm that it is
possible to shift into each shift position.
If the system will not start even after multiple attempts at all methods above,
contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional.

●If you lose your mechanical keys, new genuine mechanical keys can be
made by any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional. (→P. 139)
●If you lose your electronic keys, the risk of vehicle theft increases signifi-
cantly. Contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional immediately. ( →P. 141)
●Is the electronic key battery weak or depleted? ( →P. 351)
●Is the power switch in ON mode?
When locking the doors, turn the power switch off. ( →P. 203)
●Is the electronic key left inside the vehicle?
When locking the doors, make sure that you have the electronic key on
your person.
●The function may not operate properly due to the condition of the radio
wave. ( →P. 154)
●Is the child-protector lock set?
The rear door cannot be opened from inside the vehicle when the lock is
set. Open the rear door from outside and then unlock the child-protector
lock. ( →P. 145)
