3-2. Opening, closing and locking the doors
●A sudden approach to the effective range or door handle may prevent the
doors from being unlocked. In this case, return the door handle to the origi-
nal position and check that the doors unlock before pulling the door handle
again.
● If there is another electronic key in the detection area, it may take slightly
longer to unlock the doors after the door handle is gripped.
■ When the vehicle is not driven for extended periods
●To prevent theft of the vehicle, do not leave the electronic key within 6 ft.
(2 m) of the vehicle.
● The smart key system can be deactivated in advance. ( P. 559)
■ To operate the system properly
Make sure to carry the electronic key when operating the system. Do not get
the electronic key too close to the vehicle when operating the system from the
outside of the vehicle.
Depending on the position and holding condition of the electronic key, the key
may not be detected correctly and the system may not operate properly. (The
alarm may go off accidentally, or the door lock prevention may not operate.)
■ If the smart key system does not operate properly

Compatible models
The Bluetooth
® audio system supports portable audio players with the follow-
ing specifications.
● Bluetooth
® specifications:
Ver. 2.0, or higher (Recommended: Ver. 3.0+EDR or higher)
● Profiles:
• A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) Ver. 1.0, or higher
(Recommended: Ver. 1.2 or higher)
This is a profile to transmit stereo audio or high quality sound to the audio
system.
• AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) Ver. 1.0 or higher
(Recommended: Ver. 1.4 or higher)
This is a profile to allow remote control the A/V equipment.
However, please note that some functions may be limited depending on the
type of portable audio player connected.
The hands-free system supports cellular phones with the following specifica-
tions.
● Bluetooth
® specification:
Ver. 2.0 or higher (Recommended: Ver. 3.0+EDR or higher)
● Profiles:
• HFP (Hands Free Profile) Ver. 1.0 or higher (Recommended: Ver. 1.6 or
higher)
This is a profile to allow hands-free phone calls using a cellular phone or
head set. It has outgoing and incoming call functions.
• OPP (Object Push Profile) Ver. 1. 1 or higher (Recommended: Ver. 1.2)
This is a profile to transfer contact data. When a Bluetooth
® compatible
cellular phone has both PBAP and OPP, OPP cannot be used.
• PBAP (Phone Book Access Profile) Ver. 1.0 or higher (Recommended:
Ver. 1.1)
This is a profile to transfer contact data.
• MAP (Message Access Profile) Ver.1.0 or higher This is a profile to using phone message.
If the cellular phone does not support HFP, you cannot register it with the
hands-free system. OPP, PBAP or MAP services must be selected individu-
ally.

■ The panoramic roof shades can be operated when
The power switch is in ON mode.
■ Jam protection function
●If an object is detected between a panoramic roof shade and the frame
while closing, travel is stopped and the panoramic roof shades open slightly.
● When the jam protection function has operated, even if the “CLOSE” side of
the switch is pressed again, the shades will not move in the close direction
until the reverse operation has stopped completely.
● Depending on the driving conditions and the surroundings, the panoramic
roof shades may collide with something and operate in reverse.
■ Door lock linked automatic close function
Operates when the power switch is turned off and the doors are locked from
inside or outside the vehicle using the wireless remote control, or are locked
from outside the vehicle using the smart key system or mechanical key.
■ If the panoramic roof shades do not close normally
Perform the following operations.
Stop the vehicle in a safe place.
With the panoramic roof shades stopped, push and hold the “CLOSE” side
of the switch for 10 seconds or more (until the panoramic roof shades have
closed completely).
If the panoramic roof shades continue to close but then re-open slightly even
after performing the above procedure correctly, have the vehicle inspected by
your Toyota dealer.

Point the remote control
transmitter for the device 1 to
3 in. (25 to 75 mm) from the
HomeLink
® buttons.
Keep the HomeLink® indicator
light in view while programming.
Press and hold one of the
HomeLink® buttons and the
transmitter button. When the
HomeLink
® indicator light
changes from a slow to a
rapid flash, you can release
both buttons.
If the HomeLink® indicator light
comes on but does not flash, or
flashes rapidly for 2 seconds
and remains lit, the HomeLink
®
button is already programmed.

tion by pressing the newly

If a HomeLink® button has been
programmed for a garage door,
check to see if the garage door
opens and closes. If the garage
door does not operate, see if
your garage transmitter is of the
rolling code type. Press and
hold the programmed
HomeLink
® button. The remote
control transmitter is of the roll-
ing code type if the HomeLink
®
indicator light flashes rapidly for
2 seconds and then remains lit.
If your transmitter is the rolling
code type, proceed to the head-
ing “Programming a rolling code
system”.
Repeat the steps above to program another device for any of the
remaining HomeLink® buttons.

away from the HomeLink
® buttons.
Keep the HomeLink® indicator light in view while programming.
Press and hold the selected HomeLink® button.
Repeatedly press and release (cycle) the remote control trans-
mitter for 2 seconds each until step 4 is completed.
When the HomeLink
® indicator light starts to flash rapidly,
release the buttons.
Test the HomeLink
® operation by pressing the newly pro-
grammed button. Check to see if the gate/device operates cor-
rectly.
Repeat the steps above to program another device for any of the
remaining HomeLink
® buttons.
■Programming other devices
To program other devices such as home security systems, home
door locks and lighting, contact your Toyota dealer for assistance.
■Reprogramming a button
The individual HomeLink
® buttons cannot be erased but can be
reprogrammed. To reprogram a button, follow the “Reprogramming
a HomeLink
® button” instructions.

Interior features
Press the appropriate HomeLink® button. The HomeLink® indicator
light should come on.
The HomeLink® compatible transceiver in your vehicle continues to send a
signal for up to 20 seconds as long as the button is pressed.
Press and hold the desired HomeLink® button. After 20 seconds, the
HomeLink® indicator light will start flashing slowly. Keep pressing the
HomeLink® button and press and hold the transmitter button until the
HomeLink® indicator light changes from a slow to a rapid flash.
Release the buttons.
Press and hold the 2 outside but-
tons for 10 seconds until the indi-
cator light flashes.
If you sell your vehicle, be sure to
erase the programs stored in the
HomeLink
® memory.
■ Before programming
●Install a new battery in the remote control transmitter.
● The battery side of the remote control transmitter must be pointed away
from the HomeLink
® button.

WARNING
■When programming a garage door or other remote control device
The garage door or other device may operate, so ensure people and
objects are out of danger to prevent potential harm.
■ Conforming to federal safety standards
Do not use the HomeLink
® compatible transceiver with any garage door
opener or device that lacks safety stop and reverse features as required by
federal safety standards.
This includes any garage door that cannot detect an interfering object. A
door or device without these features increases the risk of death or serious
injury.

Make sure that the 12-volt battery terminals are not corroded and that
there are no loose connections, cracks, or loose clamps.Te r m i n a l s
Hold-down clamp
■Before recharging
When recharging, the 12-volt battery produces hydrogen gas which is flam-
mable and explosive. Therefore, obser ve the following precautions before
recharging:
● If recharging with the 12-volt battery installed on the vehicle, be sure to dis-
connect the ground cable.
● Make sure the power switch on the charger is off when connecting and dis-
connecting the charger cables to the 12-volt battery.
■ After recharging/reconnecting the 12-volt battery
●Unlocking the doors using the smart key system may not be possible imme-
diately after reconnecting the 12-volt battery. If this happens, use the wire-
less remote control or the mechanical key to lock/unlock the doors.
● Start the hybrid system with the power switch in ACCESSORY mode. The
hybrid system may not start with the power switch turned off. However, the
hybrid system will operate nor mally from the second attempt.
● The power switch mode is recorded by the vehicle. If the 12-volt battery is
reconnected, the vehicle will return the power switch mode to the status it
was in before the 12-volt battery was disconnected. Make sure to turn off
the power before disconnect the 12-volt battery. Take extra care when con-
necting the 12-volt battery if the power switch mode prior to discharge is
unknown.
● Restart the hybrid system, depress the brake pedal, and confirm that it is
possible to shift into each shift position.
If the system will not start even after multiple attempts at all methods above,
contact your Toyota dealer.

■Use a CR2032 lithium battery
●Batteries can be purchased at your Toyota dealer, local electrical appliance
shops or camera stores.
● Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manu-
facturer.
● Dispose of used batteries according to the local laws.
■ If the electronic key battery is depleted
The following symptoms may occur:
●The smart key system and wireless remote control will not function properly.
● The operational range will be reduced.
WARNING
■Removed battery and other parts
These parts are small and if swallowed by a child, they can cause choking.
Keep away from children. Failure to do so could result in death or serious
injury.
NOTICE
■For normal operation after replacing the battery
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidents:
●Always work with dry hands.
Moisture may cause the battery to rust.
● Do not touch or move any other component inside the remote control.
● Do not bend either of the battery terminals.
