Engine pre-heating (Diesel)Temporarily on(up to approximately 30 seconds in severe weather conditions). When switching on the ignition, if the weather conditions and the engine temperature make it necessary.Wait until the warning lamp goes off before starting. When the warning lamp goes off, starting will occur immediately if you press and hold:– the clutch pedal with a manual gearbox.– the brake pedal with an automatic gearbox. If the engine does not start, make the engine starting request again, while keeping your foot on the pedal.
Front passenger airbag (ON)Fixed. The front passenger airbag is activated. The control is in the "ON" position. In this case, do NOT install a "rearward facing" child seat on the front passenger seat - Risk of serious injury!
Front passenger airbag (OFF)Fixed. The front passenger airbag is deactivated. The control is in the "OFF" position. You can install a "rearward facing" child seat, unless there is a fault with the airbags (airbag warning lamp on).
AirbagsFixed. One of the airbags or seat belt pyrotechnic pretensioners is faulty.Carry out (3).
Low fuel levelor Fixed (warning lamp or LED) and needle in the red zone (depending on version), accompanied by an audible signal and a message. The audible signal and the message are repeated with increasing frequency as the fuel level drops towards zero. When it first comes on, there remains less than 8 litres of fuel in the tank.
Refuel without delay to avoid running out of fuel.Never drive until completely empty, this could damage the emission control and injection systems.

Localised Emergency Call
(PE112)
► In an emergency, press this button for more than 2 seconds. The lighting of the indicator lamp and a voice message confirm that the call has been made to the emergency services*.‘Localised Emergency Call’ immediately locates your vehicle and puts you in contact with the appropriate emergency services**.► Pressing again immediately cancels the request. The indicator lamp flashes when the vehicle data is sent, and then remains lit when communication is established.
WARNI NG
If an impact is detected by the airbag control unit, an emergency call is made automatically, independently of the deployment of any airbags.
NOTIC E
‘Localised Emergency Call’ is a service that can be accessed free of charge.
System operation
– Upon switching on the ignition, if the indicator lamp lights up red, then green, and then goes out: the system is operating correctly.– If the indicator lamp is fixed red: system malfunction– If the indicator lamp flashes red: replace the emergency battery. In the latter two cases, emergency and assistance call services may not work.Contact a dealer or a qualified repairer as soon as possible.
NOTIC E
The system fault does not prevent the vehicle from being driven.

NOTIC E
The ASR and DSC systems will no longer act on the operation of the engine or of the brakes in the event of a change of trajectory. These systems are reactivated automatically from 31 mph (50 km/h) and whenever the ignition is switched on.
WARNI NG
RecommendationsYour vehicle is designed principally to drive on tarmac roads but it allows you to occasionally drive on other less passable terrain. However, it does not permit off-road driving such as:– crossing and driving on terrain which could damage the underbody or strip away components (fuel pipe, fuel cooler, etc.) due to obstacles or stones in particular,– driving on terrain with steep gradients and
poor grip,– crossing a stream.
Seat belts
Inertia reelThe seat belts are equipped with an inertia reel which allows the strap length to automatically adjust to your shape. The seat belt returns to its storage automatically when it is not used. The inertia reels are fitted with a device which automatically locks the strap in the event of a collision, emergency braking or if the vehicle rolls over. It can be released by pulling the strap firmly and then releasing it so that it reels in slightly.Pyrotechnic pretensioningThis system improves safety in the event of a frontal or side impact.Depending on the severity of the impact, the pyrotechnic pretensioning system instantly tightens the seat belts against the body of the occupants. The pyrotechnic pretensioning seat belts are enabled when the ignition is on.Force limiterThis system reduces the pressure of the seat
belt on the chest of the occupant, thus improving their protection.
WARNI NG
In the event of an impactDepending on the nature and seriousness of the impacts, the pyrotechnic device may trigger before and independently of airbag deployment. Deployment of the pretensioners is accompanied by a slight discharge of harmless smoke and a noise, due to the activation of the pyrotechnic cartridge incorporated in the system. In all cases, the airbag warning lamp comes on.Following an impact, have the seat belt system checked, and if necessary replaced, by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

MaintenanceIn accordance with current safety regulations, for all work on your vehicle's seat belts, contact a qualified workshop with the skills and equipment needed, which any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer is able to provide.Have the seat belts checked regularly by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer, particularly if the straps show signs of damage.Clean the seat belt straps with soapy water or a textile cleaning product, sold by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
Airbags
General information
System designed to help improve the safety of the occupants sitting in the front seats and the rear outer seats, in the event of a violent collision. The airbags supplement the action of the seat belts equipped with a force limiting system.Electronic detectors record and analyse the front and side impacts sustained in the impact detection zones:– In the event of violent impact, the airbags deploy instantly and help better protect the occupants of the vehicle; immediately after the impact, the airbags deflate rapidly in order not to hinder the visibility or the possible exit of the occupants.– In the event of a slight impact, a rear impact and under certain rollover conditions, the airbags may not deploy; only the seat belt helps to protect you in these situations.
The seriousness of the impact depends on the nature of the obstacle and the speed of the vehicle at the moment of collision.
WARNI NG
The airbags do not operate when the ignition is switched off. This equipment will only deploy once. If a second impact occurs (during the same or a subsequent accident), the airbag will not be deployed again.
Impact detection zones
A.Front impact zone
B.Side impact zone
NOTIC E
When one or more airbags are deployed, the detonation of the pyrotechnic charge incorporated in the system makes a noise and releases a small quantity of smoke. This smoke is not harmful, but sensitive individuals may experience slight irritation.
The detonation noise associated with the deployment of one or more airbags may result in a slight loss of hearing for a short time.
