Automatic (shift lever operation)
ManualTo turn automatic mode ON, while vehicle is stopped, pull and hold switc\
h until a 
buzzer sounds and “EPB Shift Interlock Function Activated” display\
s in the Multi-
Information Display (MID). While depressing brake, shifting into P position will 
automatically set the brake and turn the parking brake indicator and par\
king brake 
light on. To release brake, depress brake and shift out of P. The indica\
tor and the 
light turn off.
To turn automatic mode OFF, push and hold parking brake switch until “\
EPB Shift 
Interlock Function Deactivated” displays on the MID.
While vehicle is stopped and brake pedal is depressed, pull to set parking brake 
and turn the parking brake indicator and parking brake light on. To rele\
ase, press 
the brake pedal and push switch. The indicator and the light turn off.
The brake hold system keeps the brake applied when the shift lever is in\
 D, S or N 
with the system on and the brake pedal has been depressed to stop the ve\
hicle. 
The system releases the brake when the accelerator pedal is depressed wi\
th the 
shift lever in D or S to allow smooth start off.

When the steering lock cannot be 
released, “Push Engine Switch while 
Turning Steering Wheel in Either 
Direction” will be displayed on the 
Multi-Information Display.
Check that the shift lever is set in P. 
Press the power button shortly and 
firmly while turning the steering wheel 
left and right. When starting the engine, the engine 
switch may seem stuck in OFF. To free 
it, turn the key while turning the steering 
wheel slightly left and right.

NOTE: 
- Installation of a tow hitch receiver or other accessories may require disabling or removing the kick sensor.
- If battery is disconnected, the power back door needs to be reinitialized.
1. When the liftgate reaches the desired height, push the rear liftgate close-button  (on the door jam of the liftgate) once. Press and hold the button until the buzzer 
sounds (4 times).
2. To reset the height, with the liftgate open and not moving, press and\
 hold the  rear liftgate close-button until the buzzer sounds 4 times, and continue\
 to hold 
until it buzzes again, then let go. Push the same button to close the liftgate. When 
you next open the liftgate, it will open to the maximum height.
3. To set the height using the Multi-Information Display, press “
” or “” of the 
meter control switches and select “
” from “” screen. Press “” or “”  and 
select “
 (PBD)” and then press “.” Select “Opening Adjustment,” then

.” Select desired position (5 height options to choose from,) then press

lower center part of the rear bumper for within 1 second to trigger sens\

The rear view monitor system displays an image of the view from the bump\
er of 
the rear area of the vehicle. The camera for the rear view monitor syste\
m is located 
above the license plate. 
To adjust the image on the rear view monitor screen, press the “MENU”\
 button and 
select “Display.” Select “Camera” to adjust the screen contr\
ast and brightness.
Refer to the Owner‘s Manual for limitations and more details on this \
system.
The Bird’s Eye View Camera with Perimeter Scan function assists the d\
river in 
viewing the surroundings, when operating at low speeds or parking, by co\
mbining 
front, side and rear cameras and displaying an overhead image on the scr\
een.
To display the moving view/see-through view screen, press the camera swi\
tch when 
the shift lever is in the “P” position and the intuitive parking a\
ssist is enabled.

The Blind Spot Monitor is a system that has two functions:
• The Blind Spot Monitor function (assists the driver in making the decision when 
changing lanes)
• The Rear Cross Traffic Alert function (assists the driver when backing up) 
The system is designed to use radar sensors to detect vehicles traveling\
 in the 
RAV4’s blind spot. If a vehicle is detected, the driver will be alert\
ed via the outside 
rear view side mirror indicators.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert function:   
While in reverse, when a vehicle approaching from the right or left rear of the RAV4 
is detected, the outside rear view mirror indicators will flash. Also, t\
he RCTA icon 
for the detected side will be displayed on the audio system display, and\
 the RCTA 
buzzer will sound.
