36 1-2. Opening, closing and locking the doors
■When all the doors are locked with the wireless remote control or key
The doors cannot be unlocked with the door lock switch.
The door lock switch can be reset by unlocking all the doors with the wire-
less remote control or key.
■ Customization that can be co nfigured at Toyota dealer
Settings (e.g. unlocking function using a key) can be changed.

CAUTION
■To prevent an accident
Observe the following precautions while driving the vehicle.
Failing to do so may result in a door opening and an occupant falling out,
resulting in death or serious injury.
●Always use a seat belt.
● Always lock the doors.
● Ensure that all doors are properly closed.
● Do not pull the inside handle of the doors while driving.

Driving position memor y (if equipped)
Your preferred driving position (the position of the driver’s seat and
outside rear view mirrors) can be memorized and recalled with the
touch of a button.
Two different driving positions can be entered into memory.
■ Entering a position to memory
Check that the shift lever is set in P.
Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position.
Adjust the driver’s seat and outside rear view mirrors to the
desired positions. While pushing the “SET” but-
ton, push button “1” or “2” until
the signal beeps.
If the selected button has
already been preset, the previ-
ously recorded position will be
overwritten.
■Recalling the memorized position
Check that the shift lever is set in P.
Turn the engine switch to the “ON” position. Push button “1” or “2” to recall
the memorized position.

Fuel gauge
Displays the quantity of fuel remaining in the tank.
Engine coolant temperature gauge
Displays the engine coolant temperature.

Switches between odometer and trip meter displays. Pressing and
holding the button will reset the trip meter when the trip meter is being
displayed.
To adjust the brightness of the instrument panel light, turn the button.

Odometer and trip meter
Odometer: Displays the total distance the vehicle has been driven.
Trip meter: Displays the distance the vehicle has been driven since the
meter was last reset. Trip meters “A” and “B” can be used to record and
display different distances independently.

Display items can be switched
by pressing the “MODE” button.
■ Outside temperature
■ Average fuel consumption
■ Instantaneous fuel consumption
Displays the outside temperature.
The temperature range that can be displayed is
from -40°F (-40°C) to 140°F (60°C).
Displays the average fuel consumption since the
function was reset.
To reset the calculations, return the mode to
“AVG” and push and hold the “MODE” and “E/M”
buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds.
Displays the instantane ous fuel consumption.

■Automatic cruise control cancellation
The set speed is automatically canceled in any of the following situations.
●Actual vehicle speed falls more than 10 mph (16 km/h) below the preset
vehicle speed.
At this time, the memorized set speed is not retained.
● Actual vehicle speed is below 25 mph (40 km/h).
● VSC is activated.
■ If the cruise control indicator light flashes
Turn the “ON-OFF” button off once, and then reactivate the system.
If the cruise control speed cannot be set or if the cruise control cancels
immediately after being activated, there may be a malfunction in the cruise
control system. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
CAUTION
■To avoid operating the cruise control by mistake
Keep the “ON-OFF” button off when not in use.
■ Situations unsuitable for cruise control
Do not use cruise control in any of the following situations.
Doing so may result in control of the vehicle being lost and could cause seri-
ous or fatal accident.
●In heavy traffic
● On roads with sharp bends
● On winding roads
● On slippery roads, such as those covered with rain, ice or snow
● On steep hills

U.S.A.: Approximately 28 mph (45 km/h) - 85 mph (137 km/h)
Canada: Approximately 45 km/h (28 mph) - 139 km/h (86 mph)
■ Accelerating
The vehicle can be accelerated normally.
■ Automatically canceling vehicle-to-vehicle distance control
Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control driving is automatically canceled in the
following situations.
●Vehicle speed falls below 25 mph (40 km/h).
● VSC is activated.
● The sensor cannot operate correctly because it is covered in some way.

●The windshield wipers are operating at high or low speed.*

: Vehicle-to-vehicle distance control driving must be reset by turning the “ON-OFF” button on again.
If vehicle-to-vehicle distance control driving is automatically canceled for any
other reason, there may be a malfunction in the system. Contact your Toyota
dealer.
■ Automatically cancelling fixed speed control
The set speed is automatically canceled in the following situations.
●Actual vehicle speed is more than 10 mph (16 km/h) below the preset
vehicle speed.
At this time, the memorized set speed is not retained.
● Vehicle speed falls below 25 mph (40 km/h).
● VSC is activated.
