Checking and replacing fuses
Turn the engine switch to the “LOCK” position (vehicles without a
smart key system) or off (vehicles with a smart key system).
Open the fuse box cover.
If any of the electrical components do not operate, a fuse may
have blown. If this happens, che ck and replace the fuses as nec-
essary.

Push the tab in and lift the lid o ff. Push the tab in and lift the lid off.

Remove the fuse.
Only type A fuses can be removed
using the pullout tool.
Check if the fuse has blown.Normal fuse
Blown fuse
Type A and B
Replace the blown fuse with a new fuse of an appropriate amper-
age rating. The amperage rating can be found on the fuse box lid.
Type C, D and E
Contact your Toyota dealer.

Maintenance and care
■After a fuse is replaced
●If the lights do not turn on even after the fuse has been repla ced, a bulb may
need replacement. ( P. 442)
● If the replaced fuse blows again, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer.
■ If there is an overload in the circuit
The fuses are designed to blow, protecting the wiring harness f rom damage.

WARNING
■To prevent system breakdowns and vehicle fire
Observe the following precautions.
Failing to do so may cause damage to the vehicle, and possibly a fire or
injury.
● Never use a fuse of a higher amperage rating than that indicate d, or use
any other object in place of a fuse.
● Always use a genuine Toyota fuse or equivalent.
Never replace a fuse with a wire, even as a temporary fix.
● Do not modify the fuses or fuse boxes.
NOTICE
■Before replacing fuses
Have the cause of electrical overload determined and repaired b y your Toy-
ota dealer as soon as possible.

■Headlight low beams (halogen bulb)
For left side only:
Open the fuse box cover. ( P. 439)
Unplug the connector while
pushing the lock release.
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.

Install a new light bulb.
Align the 3 tabs on the light bulb
with the mounting, and insert.
Turn and secure the bulb
base.
Install the connector.
Shake the bulb base gently to
check that it is not loose, turn
the headlights on once and visu-
ally confirm that no light is leak-
ing through the mounting.
For left side only: Install the fuse box cover.

■Headlight high beams and bulb type daytime running lights (if
equipped)For left side only:
Open the fuse box cover. ( P. 439)
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Unplug the connector while
pushing the lock release.
Install a new light bulb.
Align the 3 tabs on the light bulb
with the mounting, and insert.
Turn and secure the bulb
base.
Shake the bulb base gently to
check that it is not loose, turn
the headlights on once and visu-
ally confirm that no light is leak-
ing through the mounting.
For left side only: Install the fuse box cover.

without daytime running lights or with bulb type daytime run-
ning lights)
For left side only:
Open the fuse box cover. ( P. 439)
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Remove the light bulb.
