Engine immobilizer system
Vehicles without a smart key
system
The indicator light flashes after
the key has been removed from
the engine switch to indicate that
the system is operating.
The indicator light stops flashing
after the registered key has been
inserted into the engine switch to
indicate that the system has been
canceled.
Vehicles with a smart key system
The indicator light flashes aft er the engine switch has been tu rned off
to indicate that the system is operating.
The indicator light stops flashi ng after the engine switch has been
turned to ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode to indicate that the
system has been canceled.
The vehicle’s keys ha ve built-in transponder chips that prevent
the engine from starting if a key has not been previously regis -
tered in the vehicle’s on-board computer.
Never leave the keys inside the vehicle when you leave the vehi-
cle.
This system is designed to help prevent vehicle theft but does not
guarantee absolute security against all vehicle thefts.

Alar m
The alarm uses light and sound to give an alert when an intrusion is
detected.
The alarm is triggered in the following situations when the ala rm is
set:
● A locked door is unlocked or opened in any way other than using
the entry function (vehicles with a smart key system) or wireless
remote control. (The doors wi ll lock again automatically.)
● The hood is opened.
Close the doors and hood, and
lock all the doors using the entry
function (vehicles with a smart key
system) or wireless remote con-
trol. The system will be set auto-
matically after 30 seconds.
The indicator light changes from
being on to flashing when the sys-
tem is set.
Do one of the following to d eactivate or stop the alarm:
● Unlock the doors using the entry function (vehicles with a smart key
system) or wireless remote control.
● Vehicles without a smart key sys tem: Turn the engine switch to the
“ACC” or “ON” position, or start the engine.
Vehicles with a smart key system: Turn the engine switch to
ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON m ode, or start the engine.
(The alarm will be deactivated or stopped after a few seconds.)

with a smart key system) to indicate that a system check is being per-
formed. They will turn off after the engine is started, or after a few seconds.
There may be a malfunction in a system if a light does not come on, or if
the lights do not turn off. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.

*6: In order to confirm operation, the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators
illuminate in the following situations:
• When the engine switch is turned to the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart key system) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with a smart ke y sys-
tem) while the BSM function is turned on.
• When the BSM function is turned on while the engine switch is in the
“ON” position (vehicles without a smart key system) or IGNITION ON
mode (vehicles with a smart key system).
If the system is functioning correctly, the BSM outside rear vi ew mirror indi-
cators will turn off after a few seconds.
If the BSM outside rear view mirror indicators do not illuminat e or do not
turn off, there may be a malfunction in the system.
If this occurs, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota deale r.
*7: This light illuminates on the outside rear view mirrors.
*8: The light does not turn on when the system is disabled.
*9: This light illuminates on the center panel.
■Eco Driving Indicator Light
●The vehicle is set to power mode. ( P. 234)
● The vehicle speed is approximately 80 mph (130 km/h) or higher.
During Eco-friendly acceleration (Eco
driving), Eco Driving Indicator Light will
turn on. When the acceleration pedal is
depressed excessively, or when the vehi-
cle is stopped, the light turns off.
Eco Driving Indicator Light will not operate
in the following conditions:

The shift lever is in anything other than
D.

■If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS warning lights not
come on when you start the engine, this could mean that these s ystems are
not available to help protect you in an accident, which could r esult in death
or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota de aler immedi-
ately if this occurs.

Entune Audio or Entune Audio Plus (vehicles with Data Communi-
cation Module)/Entune Premium Audio
Press the “MENU” button.
Select “Info” on t he “Menu” screen.
Select “ECO” on the “Information” screen.
If the “History” screen is displayed, select “Trip Information” .

Average fuel consumption for the past 15 minutes is divided by color
into past averages and averages attained since the engine switch was
last turned to IGNITION ON mode. Use the displayed average fuel
consumption as a reference.

The doors cannot be locked if either of the front doors is open and the
key is in the engine switch.
Vehicles with a smart key system
The door cannot be locked if the engine switch is in ACCESSORY or
IGNITION ON mode, or the electronic key is left inside the vehi cle.
The key may not be detected correctly and the door may be locke d.

■Setting and canceling the functions
To switch between set and cancel ed, follow the procedure below:
Close all the doors and turn the engine switch to the “ON” posi -
tion (vehicles without a smart key system) or IGNITION ON
mode (vehicles with a smart key system). (Perform step within
10 seconds.)
Shift the shift lever to P or N,
and press and hold the door
lock switch (
or ) for
approximately 5 seconds and
then release.
The shift lever and switch posi-
tions corresponding to the
desired function to be set are
shown in the following table.
Use the same procedure to cancel the function.
When the setting or canceling ope ration is complete, all the doors are
locked and then unlocked.

Operation of each component
WARNING
●If the power sliding door system is turned off with the main sw itch while the
sliding door is operating automat ically, the automatic operation is stopped.
The sliding door then has to be operated manually. Take extra c are when
on an incline, as the sliding door may open or close unexpected ly.
● If the operating conditions of the power sliding door are no lo nger met, a
buzzer may sound and the sliding door may stop opening or closi ng. The
sliding door then has to be operated manually. Take extra care when on an
incline, as the sliding door may open or close abruptly.
● On an incline, a sliding door may close by itself after it open s automati-
cally. Make sure the sliding door is fully open and secure.
● In the following situations, the power sliding door may detect an abnormal-
ity and automatic operation may be stopped. In this case, the s liding door
has to be operated manually. Take extra care when on an incline, as the
sliding door may open or close abruptly.
• When the sliding door contacts an obstacle
• When the battery voltage suddenly drops, such as when the engine switch is turned to the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart key sys-
tem) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with a smart key system) or the
engine is started during automatic operation
● Do not attach any accessories other than genuine Toyota parts t o the
power sliding door. The power sliding door may not operate, cau sing itself
to malfunction, or the power sliding door may close again after it is
opened.
● When the child-protector locks are set, make sure to turn off the power
sliding door system with the main switch in order to totally di sable the sys-
tem.
■ Jam protection function (vehicles with power sliding doors)
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause death or serious injury.
● Never use any part of your body to intentionally activate the j am protection
function.
● The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just
before the power sliding door fully closes. Be careful not to c atch fingers or
anything else.
● The jam protection function may not work depending on the shape of the
object that is caught. Be careful not to catch fingers or anything else.
