Initial screen
When you start the engine or turn the ignition
switch to the ACCº position, the initial
screen appears and the system begins
operating.
CAUTION
When the vehicle is stopped with the
engine running, always apply the park-
ing brake for safety.
After a few seconds, the CAUTIONº screen
appears.
Touch either Englishº or
Fran†aisº to select a language. Read
and follow the instructions.
When you touch the
I Agreeº switch
on the screen, the map screen appears.
You can access this screen when you push
the
INFOº button and touch the Lan-
guageº
switch. Then you can select a lan-
guage.

Ð Destination input by
Previousº
Touch the Previousº switch on the
Destinationº screen.
The previous starting point and up to 99 pre-
viously set destinations are displayed on the
screen.
Touch the switch of the desired destina-
tion. The screen changes and displays the
map location of the selected destination
and the route preference. (See Ð Enter-
ing destinationº on page 38.)
Dateº: To list the previous destinations in or-
der of registered date.
Nameº: To list the previous destinations in
alphabetical order.
INFORMATION
You can delete the list of previous des-
tinations while your vehicle is stopped,if you no longer need them. (See page91.)
Ð Destination input by Mapº
Touch the Mapº switch on the Destina-
tionº screen.
The screen changes and displays the map
location that was previously displayed
just before the destination input operation
and the route preference. (See Ð Enter-
ing destinationº on page 38.)
INFORMATION
Guidance starts if you touch the En-
terº switch even while driving. Howev-
er, the cursor cannot be moved.

Ð Entering destination
After you input the destination, the screen
changes and displays the map location of
the selected destination and the route
preference.
SCREEN A
1. When you touch an arrow facing the
desired point, the map scrolls in that
direction. When you release your finger,
scrolling stops.
2. To set the destination and display
SCREEN B, touch the
Enterº switch.
When the destination is already set, the
Add to º switch and the Replace
º switch are displayed.
Add to
º: To add a destination. Replace
º:
To delete the existing destina-
tions and set a new one.
Changeº: To change the route preference.
(See page 39.)
Info.º: If this switch is displayed on the top
of the screen, touch the switch to see name,
address, and phone number, etc.
SCREEN B
3. To start guidance, touch the
Guideºswitch.
3 Routesº: To select the desired route from
three possible routes. (See page 39.)
Routeº: To change the route. (See pages
42 and 44.)
INFORMATION
Guidance can be suspended or re- sumed. (See page 62.)
If you keep touching the Guideºswitch until a beep sounds, Demomode will start.

Ð Compact disc player
operation(a) Playing a compact disc
The slot for the compact disc player is be-
hind the display.
To insert a compact disc, push the
OPENº button to lower the display. Put
the compact disc in the slot with the label
side up.
The player will automatically start when you
insert the compact disc. At this time, CDº ap-
pears on the screen.
If the label faces down, the disc cannot be
played. In this case, CD CHECKº appears
on the screen.
CAUTION
Do not place anything on the opened
display, as such items may be thrown
about in the compartment and possi-
bly injure people in the vehicle during
sudden braking or in an accident.
To reduce the chance of injury in case
of an accident or sudden stop while
driving, keep the display closed.
Take care not to jam your hand while
the display is moving. Otherwise, you
could be injured.
NOTICE
Do not obstruct the display while it ismoving. It could damage your audiosystem.
INFORMATION
Under extremely cold conditions, thedisplay may react slowly or operationsound may become louder.
