OD TRIP METER INSPECTION
INSPECT OD/TRIP METER (in Telltale Light RH)
(a) Remove the telltale light with connector still connected.
(b) Check the continuity and voltage.

FUEL GAUGE INSPECTION
1. INSPECT RECEIVER GAUGE OPERATION
(a) Disconnect the connector from the sender gauge assembly.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON, check that the receiver gauge
needle indicates EMPTY.
(c) Connect terminals 2 and 3 on the wire harness side
connector through a 3.4 W test bulb.
(d) Turn the ignition switch ON, check that the bulb lights up and
receiver gauge needle moves toward the full side.
HINT: Because of the silicon oil in the gauge, it will take a
short time for the needle to stabilize.
If operation is not as specified, inspect the receiver gauge re-
sistance. BE±48

POWER WINDOW MOTOR INSPECTION
1. INSPECT MOTOR OPERATION
Driver 's Door
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1
and the negative (±) lead to terminal 2, check that the motor
turns clockwise.
(b) R e v e r s e t h e p o l a r i t y, c h e c k t h a t t h e m o t o r t u r n s
counterclockwise.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.
Passenger 's Door
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1
and the negative (±) lead to terminal 2, check that the motor
turns clockwise.

counterclockwise.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.
2. INSPECT PTC OPERATION
Driver 's Door
(a) Disconnect the connector from the master switch.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 9
and the negative (±) lead to terminal 10 on the wire harness
side connector and raise the window to the fully closed
position.
(c) Continue to apply voltage, check that there is a PTC
operation noise within approximately 4 to 90 seconds.
(d) Reverse the polarity, check that the window begins to
descend within approximately 60 seconds.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.
Passenger 's Door
(a) Disconnect the connector from the power window switch.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2
and the negative (±) lead to terminal 5 on the wire harness
side connector, and raise the window to the fully closed
position.
(c) Continue to apply voltage, check that there is a PTC
operation noise within approximately 4 to 90 seconds.
(d) Reverse the polarity, check that the window begins to
descend within approximately 60 seconds.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor. BE±72

SLIDE MOTOR INSPECTION
1. INSPECT MOTOR OPERATION
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2
and the negative (±) lead to terminal 1, check that the motor
turns counterclockwise.
(b) Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.
2. INSPECT PTC THERMISTOR OPERATION
(a) Separate power seat adjuster from front seat.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2,
the positive (+) lead from the ammeter to terminal 1, and the
negative (±) lead to battery negative (±) terminal, and move
the seat front end position.
(c) Continue to apply voltage, check the current changes to less
than 1 ampere within 4 to 90 seconds.
(d) Disconnect the lead from terminals.
(e) Approximately 60 seconds later, connect the positive (+) lead
from battery to terminal 1 and the negative (±) lead to terminal
2, check that the seat begins to move backwards.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor. BE±76

RECLINING MOTOR INSPECTION
1. INSPECT MOTOR OPERATION
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2
and negative (±) lead to terminal 1 and check that the motor
turns counterclockwise.
(b) Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns clockwise.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.
2. INSPECT PTC THERMISTOR OPERATION
(a) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2.
(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the ammeter to terminal 1
and the negative (±) lead to battery negative (±) terminal.
(c) Check that the seat back is reclined to the most forward
position.
(d) Continue to apply voltage, check the current change to less
than 1 ampere within 4 to 90 seconds.
(e) Disconnect the lead from terminals.
(f) Approximately 60 seconds later, connect the positive (+) lead
from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (±) lead to
terminal 2, check that the seat back starts to fall backwards.
If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

(a) Check that the battery positive voltage is 10 Ð 16 V.
If voltage is not as specified, replace the battery.
(b) Check that the DOME fuse is not blown.
If the fuse is blown, replace the fuse and check for
short.
(c) Troubleshoot the clock as follows.
HINT: Inspect the connector on the wire harness side.
Is there battery positive voltage between
terminal +B and body ground?Open or short circuit in wire harness be-
tween terminal +B and DOME fuse.
Is there continuity between terminal
GND and body ground?Open circuit in wire harness between ter-
minal GND and body ground.
Replace clock assembly.

 CLOCK LOSES OR GAINS TIME
(a) Check that the battery positive voltage is 10 Ð 16 V.
If voltage is not as specified, replace the battery.
(b) Inspect the error of the clock.
Allowable error (per day):
2.0 seconds.
If the error exceeds the allowable error, replace the
clock assembly.
(c) check if the clock adjusting button is sticking in position
and has failed to return.
If the button has not returned, repair or replace the
clock assembly.
(d) Troubleshoot the clock as follows:

3. BLEED MASTER CYLINDER
HINT: If the master cylinder has been disassembled or if the
reservoir becomes empty, bleed the air from the master cylin-
der.
(a) Disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder.
(b) Slowly depress the brake pedal and hold it.
(c) Block off the outer holes with your fingers, and release the
brake pedal.
(d) Repeat (b) and (c) 3 or 4 times.
4. BLEED BRAKE LINE
(a) Connect the vinyl tube to the brake caliper.
(b) Depress the brake pedal several times, then loosen the
bleeder plug with the pedal held down.
(c) At the point when fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder
plug, then release the brake pedal.
(d) Repeat (b) and (c) until all the air in the fluid has been bled
out.
(e) Repeat the above procedure to bleed the air out of the brake
line for each wheel.
Torque: 11 NVm (110 kgfVcm, 8 ftVlbf)
5. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR
Check the fluid level and add fluid if necessary.
Fluid:
SAE J1703 or FMVSS NO.116 DOT3
6. INSTALL RESERVOIR CAP
(a) Align the matchmark on the reservoir cap with the matchmark
on the ºopenº side of reservoir.
(b) Push down on the reservoir cap and turn it clockwise until it
locks.
(c) Check that the matchmark on the reservoir cap is now
aligned with the matchmark on the ºcloseº side of the
reservoir. BR±8
± BRAKE SYSTEMCHECK AND ADJUSTMENT

2. CHECK BATTERY TERMINALS AND FUSES
(a) Check that the battery terminals are not loose or corroded.
If the terminals are corroded, clean the terminals.
(b) Check the fuses for continuity.
H±fuse:

3. INSPECT DRIVE BELTHINT: A belt tensioner is used, so
checking the belt tension is not necessary.
(a) Visually check the drive belt for excessive wear, frayed cords,
etc.
If necessary, replace the drive belt.
HINT:
wCracks on the rib side of a drive belt are considered
acceptable. If the drive belt has chunks missing from the
ribs, it should be replaced.
wThe drive belt tension can be released by turning the
belt tensioner clockwise.
(b) Check the belt tensioner operation.
wCheck that the belt tensioner moves downward when
the drive belt is pressed down at the points indicated in
the illustration with approx. 98 N (10 kgf. 22.0 lbf) of
force.
wCheck the alignment of the belt tensioner pulley to make
sure the drive belt will not slip off the pulley.
If necessary, replace the belt tensioner. CH±4
