IntroductIon
The Interface Kit allows you to play music from an iPod®
through your vehicle’s radio system. Reading this Owner’s
Manual ensures that you will get the most out of your audio
experience. This manual explains how to integrate the radio
with your iPod using the Interface Kit. Button locations and
labeling will differ depending upon your vehicle’s make and
model.
For new iPods, follow the iPod instructions for loading songs
into it before connecting to the radio. The Interface Kit uti-
lizes the Satellite Radio (SAT) controls of your radio’s. There-
fore, Satellite Radio controls are used to search for and play
music from the iPod.
NOTE: With the Interface Kit installed, satellite radio use
is not possible.

BASIC FuNCTIONS
resume Play
The “Resume Play” feature allows the iPod to play the cur-
rent musical selection (Play queue) when connecting to the
Interface Kit. If the play queue was empty, the Interface Kit
plays the entire iPod.
music Play
Select songs in the play queue and continue to play repeat-
edly until another selection is made.
music Search
The user can make media selections from the iPod from a
preselected list of categories (Playlist, Artist, Album, Genre,
Podcast and Audiobook). The radio SAT controls coincide
with similar functions on the iPod.
Text display
The interface utilizes the same text fields provided for the
satellite radio. For each song, the radio displays a track num-
ber, artist name and song title information. This corresponds
to the SAT channel number, artist name and song title re-
spectively.
Connecting/disconnecting iPod
When the iPod is properly connected to the interface:
• iPod synchronized: On establishing connection with
the iPod, an “accessory attached” symbol will appear
as illustrated below.
• “Hello iPod” is shown in the radio’s display.
• Radio controlled: The iPod can only be operated us-
ing your vehicle’s SAT system controls. Once connect-
ed to the interface, the iPod’s controls (click wheel,
etc.) no longer function.
• Charging iPod: The vehicle charges the iPod battery
when the ignition switch is in the ON or ACC position.
• iPod battery is discharged: If the iPod is in a fully
discharged state, it may not be playable for a short
period. “iPod Charge” is displayed on the radio if the
iPod is in a low battery state.
When the iPod is disconnected from the interface:
• “No iPod” is shown in the radio’s display.
• The radio remains in the SAT mode.
NOTE: It is highly recommended to turn the vehicle’s igni-
tion switch (or radio’s power) OFF before disconnecting
the iPod from the radio.
All of these displays are subject to change. These are only examples.
