Washer fluid
If the washer fluid level is less
than “FULL” line, add washer
fluid to “FULL” line.
NOTICE
When recharging the battery
Never recharge the battery while the engine is running. Also, be sure all
accessories are turned off.
When adding distilled water
Avoid overfilling. Water spilled during battery recharging may cause corro-
sion.
CAUTION
When adding washer fluid
Do not add washer fluid when the engine is hot or running as washer fluid
contains alcohol and may catch fire if spilled on the engine etc.

Wireless remote control/electronic key batter y
Replace the battery with a new one if it is depleted.
You will need the following items:
Flathead screwdriver
Lithium battery CR2016 (vehicles without a smart entry & start
system), or CR1632 (vehicles with a smart entry & start sys-
tem)
Replacing the battery (vehicles without a smart entry & start
system)
Remove the cover.
To prevent damage to the key,
cover the tip of the screwdriver
with a rag.
To prevent the buttons from
being disassembled, face the
button surface downward.
Remove the module.

Open the case cover and
remove the depleted battery.
Insert a new battery with the
“+” terminal facing up.
Replacing the battery (vehicles with a smart entry & start
system)
Take out the mechanical key.
Remove the cover.
To prevent damage to the key,
cover the tip of the screwdriver
with a rag.

Use a CR2016 (vehicles without a smart entry & start system) or
CR1632 (vehicles with a smart entry & start system) lithium battery
Batteries can be purchased at any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer,
or another duly qualified and equipped professional, local electrical appli-
ance shops or camera stores.
Replace only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the
manufacturer.
Dispose of used batteries according to local laws.
If the key battery is depleted
The following symptoms may occur:
The smart entry & start system (if equipped) and wireless remote control
will not function properly.
The operational range will be reduced.
When replacing the module (vehicles without a smart entry and start
system)
Remove the depleted battery.
Insert a new battery with the
“+” terminal facing up.

Replace the module from right above.
Replacing it from diagonally above may
prevent the key buttons from operating
properly.

CAUTION
Removed battery and other parts
Keep away from children. These parts are small and if swallowed by a child,
they can cause choking. Failure to do so could result in death or serious
injury.
Certification for the lithium battery
RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN INCORRECT
TYPE. DISPOSE OF USED BATTERIES ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUC-
TIONS
NOTICE
For normal operation after replacing the battery
Observe the following precautions to prevent accidents:
Always work with dry hands.
Moisture may cause the battery to rust.
Do not touch or move any other component inside the remote control.
Do not bend either of the battery terminals.

Pull the rubber strip on the
edge to unhook it from the
cover, and then push the tabs
in and lift the cover off.
Remove the battery terminal
cover and then the fuse box
cover.

Emergency flashers
NOTICE
To prevent battery discharge
Do not leave the emergency flashers on longer than necessary when the
engine is not running.
Use the emergency flashers if the vehicle malfunctions or is
involved in an accident.
Press the switch to flash all
the turn signal lights. To turn
them off, press the switch
once again.
