How to initialize the tire pressure warning system
Park the vehicle in a safe place and turn the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch (vehicles with a smart entry & start system) or
the engine switch (vehicles without a smart entry & start sys-
tem) off.
Initialization cannot be performed while the vehicle is moving.
Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified cold tire infla-
tion pressure level. (P. 535)
Make sure to adjust the tire pressure to the specified cold tire infla-
tion pressure level. The tire pressure warning system will operate
based on this pressure level.
Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to IGNITION ON
mode (vehicles with a smart entry & start system) or engine
switch to the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart entry &
start system).
Press and hold the tire pressure
warning reset switch until the tire
pressure warning light blinks
slowly 3 times.

Maintenance and care
Vehicles with a smart entry & start system: Wait for a few min-
utes with the “ENGINE START STOP” switch in IGNITION ON
mode and then turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch off.
Vehicles without a smart entry & start system: Wait for a few
minutes with the engine switch in the “ON” position and then
turn the engine switch to the “ACC” or “LOCK” position.
Registering ID codes
The tire pressure warning valve and transmitter is equipped with a
unique ID code. When replacing a tire pressure warning valve and
transmitter, it is necessary to register the ID code. Have the ID code
registered by any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional.

Vehicles without a smart entry & start system: Enter the vehi-
cle being towed and start the engine.
If the engine does not start, turn the engine switch to the “ON”
position.
Vehicles with a smart entry & start system: Enter the vehicle
being towed and start the engine.
If the engine does not start, turn the “ENGINE START STOP”
switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Shift the shift lever to N and release the parking brake.
When the shift lever cannot be shifted: P. 4 9 5
While towing
If the engine is not running, the power assist for the brakes and steering will
not function, making steering and braking more difficult.
Wheel nut wrench
Wheel nut wrench is installed in the tool tray (vehicles with a spare tire) or
the tool box (vehicles with an emergency tire puncture repair kit).

Starting the engine
Vehicles with a Multidrive
Ensure that the shift lever is in P and firmly depress the brake
pedal.
Touch the Toyota emblem side of
the electronic key to the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch.
The “ENGINE START STOP”
switch will turn to IGNITION ON
mode.
When the smart entry & start sys-
tem is deactivated in customiza-
tion setting, the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch will turn to ACCES-
SORY mode. Modes can be
changed by pressing the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch
with the brake pedal released.
(The mode changes each time
the switch is pressed.)
Firmly depress the brake pedal and check that the smart entry
& start system indicator light (green) turns on.
Press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch.
In the event that the “ENGINE START STOP” switch still cannot be
operated, contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional.

When trouble arises
Vehicles with a manual transmission
Ensure that the shift lever is in N and depress the clutch
pedal.
Touch the Toyota emblem side of
the electronic key to the
“ENGINE START STOP” switch.
The “ENGINE START STOP”
switch will turn to IGNITION ON
mode.
When the smart entry & start sys-
tem is deactivated in customiza-
tion setting, the “ENGINE START
STOP” switch will turn to ACCES-

Vehicles without a smart entry & start system: Maintain the
engine speed of the second vehicle and turn the engine
switch to the “ON” position, then start the vehicle's engine.
Vehicles with a smart entry & start system: Maintain the
engine speed of the second vehicle and turn the “ENGINE
START STOP” switch to IGNITION ON mode, then start the
vehicle's engine.
Once the vehicle’s engine has started, remove the jumper
cables in the exact reverse order in which they were con-
nected.
Reinstall the cover, and then hook the rubber strip's groove
onto the cover.
