Maintenance and care
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Replace the light bulb, and install
the bulb base.
Align the 3 tabs on the light bulb
with the mounting and insert.
Turn clockwise and secure the
bulb base.
Install the connector.
Shake the connector gently to
check that it is not loose, turn the
front fog lights on once and visu-
ally confirm that no light is leaking
through the mounting.
When installing the fender liner, install by conducting
and with the directions reversed.

Front turn signal lights
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

Rear turn signal lights
Open the back door and remove
the 2 bolts and lamp assembly.
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing the light bulb, install by conducting
and with the directions reversed.

Install the lamp assembly and
then install the 2 bolts.
Align the guide and pin on
the lamp assembly with the
mounting when installing it.
Back-up light/rear fog light
Turn the bulb base counterclock-
wise.
Rear fog light
Remove the light bulb.

Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.
License plate lights
Remove the cover.
Insert a properly sized screw-
driver into the hole of the cover,
and ply off the cover as shown in
the illustration.
To prevent damaging the vehicle,
wrap the screwdriver with a tape.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing, reverse the steps listed.

Lights other than the above
If any of the lights listed below has burnt out, have it replaced by
any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional.
Front position lights/daytime running lights
Side turn signal lights
Stop/tail lights
High mounted stoplight
LED light bulbs
The front position lights, daytime running lights, high mounted stoplight and
stop/tail light consists of a number of LEDs. If any of the LEDs burn out, take
your vehicle to any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional to have the light replaced.
Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does
not indicate a malfunction.
Contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional for more information in the following situations:
Large drops of water have built up on the inside of the lens.
Water has built up inside the headlight.
When replacing light bulbs

CAUTION
Replacing light bulbs
Turn off the lights. Do not attempt to replace the bulb immediately after
turning off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns.
Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. When it is
unavoidable to hold the glass portion, use and hold with a clean dry cloth
to avoid getting moisture and oils on the bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or dropped, it may blow out or crack.
Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Failure to do so
may result in heat damage, fire, or water entering the headlight unit. This
may damage the headlights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.
To prevent damage or fire
Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.

DPF system warning light
(diesel engine only)
• Indicates that the DPF cat-
alytic converter needs to
be cleaned due to
repeated short trips and/or
low-speed driving.
• Indicates that the amount
of accumulated deposits in
the DPF catalytic con-
verter has reached the
specified level.To clean the DPF catalytic
converter, drive the vehicle
at a speed of 65 km/h (40
mph) or greater for 20 to 30
minutes as much as possi-
ble until the DPF system
warning light turns off.*4
Do not turn off the engine as
much as possible until the
DPF system warning light
turns off.
If it is not possible to drive
the vehicle at speeds of 65
km/h (40 mph) or greater, or
the DPF system warning
light does not turn off even
after driving for more than
30 minutes, have the vehi-
cle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota dealer or
repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped pro-
fessional.

reminder light (diesel

Indicates that the engine
oil is scheduled to be
changed.
Flashes approximately
14500 km (9000 miles)
after the engine oil is
changed. (P. 459) (The
indicator will not work
properly unless the oil
maintenance date has

changing the engine oil, the
oil change system should
