■Enabling/disabling the pre-crash safety system
Press the PCS switch for 3 seconds or more.
The PCS warning light will turn on and a message will be displayed in the
multi-information display, when the system is turned off.
To enable the system, press the PCS switch again.
The pre-crash safety system is enabled each time the engine is started.

■Changing the pre-crash warning timing
Vehicles with monochrome display
Press the PCS switch to turn on the PCS activation indicator and dis-
play the current warning timing in the multi-information display. Each
time the PCS switch is pressed in the displayed state, the timing for
the warning changes as follows:
If the operation timing setting has been changed, the setting will be
retained the next time the engine is started.
Far
The warning will begin to operate
earlier than with the default timing.
Middle
This is the default setting.
Near
The warning will begin to operate
later than with the default timing.

Vehicles with color display
Press the PCS switch to display the current warning timing in the
multi-information display.
Each time the PCS switch is pressed in the displayed state, the timing
for the warning changes as follows:
If the operation timing setting has been changed, the setting will be
retained the next time the engine is started.
Far
The warning will begin to operate
earlier than with the default timing.
Middle
This is the default setting.
Near
The warning will begin to operate
later than with the default timing.

■ If the PCS warning light flashes or illuminates (vehicles with mono-
chrome display)
The pre-crash safety system may be temporarily unavailable or there may be
a malfunction in the system.
● In the following situations, the warning light will be cleared and the system
will become operational when normal operating conditions return:
• When the area around the front sensor is hot, such as after the vehicle
has been parked in the sun
• When the windshield is fogged up or covered with condensation or ice
• When driving in conditions where the front sensor cannot detect an
object, such as in the dark (at night on a road without street lights or other
lights, etc.), when bright light is shining into the sensor, or in snow or fog.
• When the front sensor or the area around either sensor is cold, such as in
an extremely cold environment
• If the area in front of the front sens or is obstructed, such as when the
hood is open
● If the PCS warning light continues to flash or illuminate, the system may be
malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota retailer
or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
■ If the PCS warning light flashes or illuminates and a warning message is
displayed on the multi-information di splay (vehicles with color display)

■ If VSC is disabled
● If TRC and VSC are disabled (P. 350), the pre-crash brake assist and pre-
crash braking functions are also disabled. However, the pre-crash warning
function will still operate.
● Vehicles with monochrome display: The PCS warning light illuminates.
● Vehicles with color display: The PCS warning light illuminates and “VSC
turned off. Pre-crash brake system unav ailable.” is displayed on the multi-
information display.

■Turning off both TRC and VSC systems
Vehicles with monochrome display
To turn the TRC and VSC systems off, press and hold for more than 3
seconds while the vehicle is stopped.
The “TRC OFF” indicator light and the VSC OFF indicator light will come on.
Press again to turn the systems back on.
Vehicles with color display
To turn TRC and VSC systems off, press and hold for more than 3 sec-
onds while the vehicle is stopped.
The VSC OFF indicator light will come on and the “TRC off” will be shown on
the multi-information display.*
Press again to turn the systems back on.
*: On vehicles with pre-crash safety system, pre-crash brake assist and pre-
crash braking will also be disabled. The PCS warning light will come on.

■ When the “TRC OFF” indicator light comes on even if has not been
pressed (vehicles with monochrome display)
TRC is temporary deactivated. If the indicator light continues to remain on,
contact any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any
reliable repairer.
■ When the message is displayed on the multi-information display show-
ing that TRC has been disabled even if has not been pressed (vehi-
cles with color display)
TRC is temporary deactivated. If the information continues to show, contact
any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.

PCS warning light (if equipped)
When the warning light flashes (and a buzzer sounds):
Indicates a malfunction in the PCS (Pre-Crash Safety sys-
tem)
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota
retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer immediately.
When the warning light illuminates:
Indicates that the PCS (Pre-Crash Safety system) is tem-
porarily unavailable, possibly due to either of the following:
• The part of the windshield around the front sensor being
dirty, fogged up or covered with condensation, ice, stick-
ers, etc.
 Clear the dirt, fog, condensation, ice, stickers, etc.

• Front sensor temperature being outside of its opera-
tional range
 Wait for a while until the area around the front sensor
has cooled down sufficiently.
• Either the VSC system or PCS (Pre-Crash Safety sys-
tem) is disabled or both are disabled.
 To enable the PCS, enable both the VSC system and
PCS. ( P. 297, 350)
Slip indicator (if equipped)
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC system;
• The TRC system; or
• The hill-start assist control.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota
retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer immediately.

■If “Front camera unavailable.” or “Front camera vision
blocked. Clean and demist windshield.” is displayed.
The following systems may be suspended until the problem shown
in the message is resolved.
● PCS (Pre-Crash Safety system)*
●LDA (Lane Departure Alert)*
●Automatic High Beam*
●RSA (Road Sign Assist)*
*: If equipped
■Engine oil change reminder message comes on (diesel engine)
Replace the engine oil filter when the engine oil change reminder
message does not come on even if you have driven over 40000 km
(25000 miles) after the engine oil was changed.
There is a possibility that the “Oil maintenance required.” message
has been displayed when you have driven less than 40000 km
(25000 miles) based on a usage or driving condition.

NOTICE
■If the fuel filter warning message comes on (diesel engine)
Never drive the vehicle with the warning message is shown. Continued driv-
ing with water accumulated in the fuel filter will damage the fuel injection
pump.

WARNING
■When using the full-size spare tire (if equipped)
● On vehicles with a tire pressure warning system: Replace the full-size
spare tire with a standard tire as soon as possible.
● Avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shifting
operations that cause sudden engine braking.
■ When using the compact spare tire (if equipped)
● Remember that the compact spare tire provided is specifically designed
for use with your vehicle. Do not use your compact spare tire on another
vehicle.
● Do not use more than one compact spare tire simultaneously.
● Replace the compact spare tire with a standard tire as soon as possible.
● Avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shifting
operations that cause sudden engine braking.
■ When storing the spare tire (if equipped)
Be careful not to catch fingers or other body parts between the spare tire
and the body of the vehicle.
■ After using the tools and jack
Before driving, make sure all the tools and jack are securely in place in their
storage location to reduce the possibility of personal injury during a collision
or sudden braking.
■ When the compact spare tire is attached (if equipped)
The vehicle speed may not be correctly detected, and the following systems
may not operate correctly:
■ Speed limit when using the compact spare tire (if equipped)
Do not drive at speeds in excess of 80 km/h (50 mph) when a compact
spare tire is installed on the vehicle.
The compact spare tire is not designed for driving at high speeds. Failure to
observe this precaution may lead to an accident causing death or serious
injury.
