the device and cause faults.
■ Protect CDs from heat and direct sunlight.
■ The following restrictions apply for the data stored on an MP3/
WMA CD:
Maximum file/song number: 800
Maximum folders in depth
hierarchy: 8
WMA files with Digital Rights
Management (DRM) from online
music shops cannot be played.
WMA files can only be played
safely if they were created with Windows Media Player version 9 or later.
Applicable playlist
extensions: .m3u, .pls
Playlist entries must be in the form
of relative paths.Notice
This chapter only deals with playing
MP3 files since the operation for
MP3 and WMA files is identical.
When a CD with WMA files is loaded MP3 related menus are displayed.
Usage
Starting CD playback
Push an audio or MP3 CD with the
labelled side facing upwards into the
CD slot until it is pulled in.
Repeatedly press MEDIA to activate
the CD function.Removing a CD
Press R. The CD is pushed out of the
CD slot.
If the CD is not removed after
ejection, it will be drawn back in after
a few seconds.

Select l to resume playback.
Skipping to previous or next track
Select t or v to play the previous
or next track.
Alternatively, turn MENU to skip to

Select PLAYLISTS , ARTISTS ,
ALBUMS , SONGS , GENRES or
MORE . MORE comprises the
additional categories: Folder View,
Podcasts , Audiobooks , Videos and
Composers .
Browse through the categories until
you find the desired track. Select the
track to start playback.
Audio menus To display the respective audio
menu, select the MENU screen
button in the interaction selector bar.

If Shuffle is activated, the tracks on

Set Audio Information to On or Off.Display mode

Select Day / Night Mode to display the

If you wish the screen to adjust

POI icons

"Points of Interest" Icons to display

If POI Icons is activated, points of
interest around the current location or
along the route are displayed on the
map.
Set POI Icons to On or Off.
If POI Icons is set to On, select the
POI categories you wish to be
displayed.
Select Clear All to unselect all
categories.

Depending on the phone, not all text messages stored on the phone are
displayed in the inbox.
To listen to a message, select the 3
beside the respective message.

If the vehicle is going faster than 5
mph, the text message is not
displayed on the screen.

stored on the respective phone are

Driver Information Centre
In the Driver Information Centre,
Infotainment related information and
menus are shown.
The menus on the Driver Information
Centre are operated via the five-way
controller on the right-hand side of the steering wheel.
Usage
Control elements The Infotainment system is operated
via function buttons, a MENU knob
and menus that are shown on the
display.
Inputs are made optionally via: ■ the control panel on the Infotainment system 3 106
■ audio controls on the steering wheel 3 106
Switching the Infotainment
system on or off Press X briefly. After switching on,
the last selected Infotainment source
becomes active.
Press and hold X again to turn the
system off.
Automatic switch-off
If the Infotainment system is switched
on pressing X while the ignition is
switched off, it switches off again
automatically after 30 minutes.Setting the volume
Turn m. The current setting is shown
on the display.
When the Infotainment system is
switched on, the last selected volume is set, provided that the volume is
lower than the maximum start-up
volume 3 113.
Speed compensated volume
When Auto volume is activated
3 113, the volume is adapted
automatically to make up for the road
and wind noises as you drive.
Mute function
Press m to mute the audio sources.
To cancel the mute function: turn m.
Modes of operation Radio
Press RADIO to open the radio main
menu or to toggle between the
different wavebands.
