pressure telltale. When the system detects a mal-function, the telltale will flash for approximatelyone minute and then remain continuously illumi-nated. This sequence will continue upon subse-quent vehicle start-ups as long as the malfunc-tion exists. When the malfunction indicator is illu-minated, the system may not be able to detect orsignal low tire pressure as intended.
TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety ofreasons, including the installation of replacementor alternate tires or wheels on the vehicle thatprevent the TPMS from functioning properly.
Always check the TPMS malfunction telltale afterreplacing one or more tires or wheels on yourvehicle to ensure that the replacement or alter-nate tires and wheels allow the TPMS to con-tinue to function properly.
Messages in the instrument panel
If tire pressure is too low, the low tire pressurewarning symbol is shown in the instrument panelalong with a message. Check the inflation pres-sure in the Car Status app in the center display.

To keep in mind
Always save the new inflation pressure in thesystem after changing a tire or adjusting theinflation pressure.
If you switch to a tire of another size than thefactory-mounted tires, the system must bereset by storing a new inflation pressure forthese tires to avoid false warnings.
If a spare wheel8 is used, it is possible thatthe tire pressure monitoring system will notwork correctly due to the differencesbetween the wheels.
The system does not replace the need forregular tire inspection and maintenance.
It is not possible to deactivate the tire pres-sure monitoring system.
WARNING
Incorrect inflation pressure could lead totire failure, which could cause the driverto lose control of the vehicle.
The system cannot predict sudden tiredamage.

When changing wheels
The wheels can be changed, e.g. to switch tosnow tires or spare tires. Follow the applicableinstructions for removing and installing thewheel.
Changing to tires of another dimension
Make sure that the tire dimension is approved foruse on the vehicle.
If you change to tires of another dimension, con-tact an authorized Volvo workshop to update thevehicle's software. A software update may benecessary when changing to tires of larger/smaller dimensions or when changing to or fromsnow tires.

Tool kit
Tools for e.g. towing or changing wheels areprovided in the vehicle's trunk.
The foam block under the cargo compartmentfloor contains the towing eyelet, the tire sealingsystem, the tool for removing plastic wheel boltcovers and the tool for removing the lockingwheel bolts.
If the vehicle is equipped with a spare tire*12, ajack and lug wrench are provided.

Jack*
The jack can be used to lift the vehicle to e.g.change a wheel.
CAUTION
When not in use, the jack* should be keptin its storage compartment under thecargo compartment floor.
The jack provided with your vehicle isintended to be used only in temporary sit-uations such as changing wheels in theevent of a flat tire. Only the jack thatcame with your particular model shouldbe used to lift the vehicle. If the vehicleneeds to be lifted more frequently or for aprolonged period, using a garage jack orhoist is recommended. Always follow thisdevice's instructions for use.
The jack needs to be cranked together to thecorrect position in order to fit.
For vehicles with Leveling Control*: If the vehi-cle is equipped with the optional pneumatic sus-pension, it must be turned off before the vehicleis lifted on a jack.

Wheel bolts
The wheel bolts hold the wheel in place on thewheel hub.
Only use rims that have been tested andapproved by Volvo and are included in Volvo'soriginal product range.
Use a torque wrench to check that the wheelbolts are tightened correctly.
Do not grease the wheel bolt threads.
WARNING
The wheel bolts may need to be tightenedagain several days after a wheel change.Temperature fluctuations and vibrations cancause them to loosen slightly.
CAUTION
The wheel bolts should be tightened to140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.). Over-tightening orunder-tightening could damage the threadedjoints.

Removing a wheel
Wheel changes must always be carried out cor-rectly. The following instructions show how toremove a wheel and what is important to keep inmind.
CAUTION
When not in use, the jack* should be keptin its storage compartment under thecargo compartment floor.
The jack provided with your vehicle isintended to be used only in temporary sit-uations such as changing wheels in theevent of a flat tire. Only the jack thatcame with your particular model shouldbe used to lift the vehicle. If the vehicleneeds to be lifted more frequently or for aprolonged period, using a garage jack orhoist is recommended. Always follow thisdevice's instructions for use.
WARNING
Apply the parking brake and put the gearselector in the Park (P) position.
Block the wheels standing on the ground,use rigid wooden blocks or large stones.
Check that the jack is not damaged, thethreads are properly lubricated and it isfree from dirt.
Be sure the jack is on a firm, level, non-slippery surface and that it is upright andnot leaning.
The jack must correctly engage in thejack attachment.
No objects should be placed between thebase of the jack and the ground, orbetween the jack and the attachment baron the vehicle.
Never let anyone remain in the vehiclewhen it is raised on a jack.
If a tire must be changed near passingtraffic, make sure all passengers move toa safe location.
Use a jack intended for the vehicle whenchanging a tire. For any other job, usestands to support the vehicle.
Never crawl under or allow any part ofyour body to be extended under a vehiclesupported by a jack.

10. Crank it up until it is properly aligned and it isin contact with the vehicle's jack attachmentpoint. Make sure the top of the jack (or thegarage lift arms) is correctly positioned in theattachment point, with the bump on the topof the jack in the recess in the attachmentpoint and the base positioned vertically underthe attachment point.
11. Turn the jack so that the crank is as far aspossible from the side of the vehicle, whichwill position the jack's arms perpendicular tothe vehicle's direction of movement.
12. Raise the vehicle until the wheel to bechanged can move freely. Unscrew the wheelbolts and lift off the wheel.

Installing a wheel
Instructions for installing a wheel during a wheelchange.
NOTE
The jack provided with your vehicle isintended to be used only in temporary situa-tions such as changing wheels in the event ofa flat tire. Only the jack that came with yourparticular model should be used to lift thevehicle. If the vehicle needs to be lifted morefrequently or for a prolonged period, using agarage jack or hoist is recommended. Alwaysfollow this device's instructions for use.

WARNING
The vehicle must never be driven withmore than one "Temporary Spare" tiremounted.
Driving with a spare wheel may alter thedriving characteristics of the vehicle.Replace the spare wheel with a normalwheel as soon as possible.
The spare wheel is smaller than the nor-mal wheel, which affects the vehicle'sground clearance. Watch for high curbsand do not wash the vehicle in an auto-matic car wash when a spare wheel ismounted.
Follow the manufacturer's recommendedtire inflation pressure for the spare wheel.
On all-wheel drive vehicles, the drive onthe rear axle can be disconnected.
If the spare wheel is mounted on thefront axle, snow chains must not be used.
The spare wheel must not be repaired.
CAUTION
The vehicle must not be driven with wheels ofdifferent dimensions or with a spare tire otherthan the one that came with the vehicle. Theuse of different size wheels can seriouslydamage your vehicle's transmission.

Handling spare tires
Follow these instructions regarding handling thespare wheel.
The spare wheel is stored in a bag and should besecured with two straps onto the floor of thetrunk/cargo compartment when the vehicle isbeing driven. The straps should be strappeddown crosswise over the wheel, attached to theload anchoring eyelets and pulled taut.
Wheel changing tools are located under thecargo compartment floor.

Snow tires
Snow tires are designed for winter driving condi-tions.
Volvo recommends snow tires with specificdimensions. The tire dimensions vary dependingon engine type. When driving with snow tires, thecorrect type of tires must be mounted on all fourwheels.
NOTE
Contact a Volvo dealer for advice on the bestchoice of rims and tires.
Tips for changing snow tires
When switching between regular tires and snowtires, mark the tires according to which side theywere mounted on, e.g. L for left and R for right.
Studded tires
Studded tires should be broken in by driving500–1000 km (300–600 miles) slowly and gen-tly to help the studs settle properly in the tires.This gives the tire, and especially the studs, alonger service life.
NOTE
Regulations regarding the use of studdedtires vary from country to country.
Tread depth
Road conditions with ice, slush and low tempera-tures place considerably higher demands on tiresthan summer conditions. Volvo therefore recom-mends not driving on snow tires that have a treaddepth of less than 4 mm (0.15 inch).

Snow chains
Using snow chains and/or snow tires can helpimprove traction in winter driving conditions.
Volvo recommends that snow chains are notused on wheel dimensions other than 7.5x18 ET45 235/45.
WARNING
Use Volvo genuine snow chains or equivalentsnow chains that are suitable for the vehiclemodel and the tire and wheel sizes. Only one-sided snow chains are permitted.
If uncertain about snow chains, Volvo recom-mends contacting an authorized Volvo work-shop. Use of the wrong snow chains couldcause serious damage to the vehicle andresult in an accident.

Using the electrical outlets
The 12 V outlet can be used for devicesintended for this such as MP3 players, coolersand cellular phones.
The high-voltage outlet* can be used for devicesintended for this, such as chargers, laptops, etc.
The ignition must be in at least mode I for theoutlets to supply current. The outlets will then beactive as long as there is sufficient charge in thestart battery.
If the engine is turned off and the vehicle islocked, the outlets will be deactivated. If theengine is turned off and the vehicle remainsunlocked, the sockets will remain active for up to7 minutes.
NOTE
Bear in mind that using the electrical outletswhen the engine is off could cause the starterbattery to have too low of a charge level,which could limit other functionality.
Accessories connected to the electrical out-lets can be activated even when the vehicleelectrical system is off or if preconditioning isused. For this reason, disconnect plugs whenthey are not in use to prevent the starter bat-tery from becoming discharged.
WARNING
Do not use accessories with large orheavy plugs – they could damage the out-let or come loose while you are driving.
Do not use accessories that could causedisruptions to e.g. the vehicle's radioreceiver or electrical system.
Position the accessory so that there is norisk of it injuring the driver or passengersin the event of heavy braking or a colli-sion.
Pay attention to connected accessoriesas they can generate heat that could burnpassengers or the interior.
Using 12 V outlets
1. Remove the stopper (tunnel console) or folddown the cover (trunk/cargo compartment)over the socket and plug in the device.
2. Unplug the device and put the stopper backin (tunnel console) or fold up the cover(trunk/cargo compartment) when the socketis not in use or left unattended.
CAUTION
The maximum power is 120 W (10 A) peroutlet.
Using high-voltage outlets
The ignition must be in at least mode I for theoutlets to supply current. The outlets will then beactive as long as there is sufficient charge in thestart battery.
1.Slide down the cover over the outlet and plugin the device.
>The LED2 light on the outlet will indicateits status.
2. The outlet is supplying electrical currentwhen the light is glowing steadily green.
3. Disconnect the device by pulling out the plug(do not pull on the cord).
Pull up the cover when the outlet is not inuse or is left unattended.
CAUTION
The maximum power is 150 W.
WARNING
Do not attempt to alter or repair the high-volt-age outlet on your own. Volvo recommendscontacting an authorized Volvo workshop.

To lock the glove compartment:
Insert the key into the lock on the glove com-partment.
Turn the key 90 degrees clockwise.
Remove the key from the lock.
–To unlock, perform the above steps inreverse.
Using the glove box as a cooled area *
The glove compartment can be used to cool e.g.drinks or food. Cooling is possible when the cli-mate system is active (i.e. when the ignition is inmode II or when the engine is running).

Sun visors
In the ceiling in front of the driver's and frontpassenger's seats, there are sun visors that canbe lowered and angled to the side as necessary.

Rear seat ski hatch*
The hatch in the rear seat backrest can beopened to transport long, narrow objects suchas skis.

1. In the cargo compartment, grasp the skihatch handle and pull it down.
2.Fold down the armrest in the rear seat.
If the private locking function is used, the skihatch must be closed.
