Zoom
When necessary, the camera view can be zoomed:
• Press
CAM or turn TUNE. Pressing or turn-
ing again returns you to normal view.
If there are additional alternatives, press/turnuntil the desired camera view is displayed.
Automatic zoom
Automatic zoom is a feature that is available on
models equipped with a trailer hitch and the optional (p. 233)Park assist system. With thisalternative selected, the camera will zoom in onthe trailer hitch automatically if the vehicleapproaches an object/trailer. See also the "Settings" section below.
DeactivationMove the gear selector from R to another gear.
The camera remains active for approx. 5 seconds after the gear selector has been moved from R or
until the vehicle's forward speed exceeds 6 mph/10 km/h (21 mph/35 km/h in reverse).The screen will then revert to the view that was displayed before R was selected.
NOTE
If any button on the center console control panel is pressed, the camera image will disap- pear from the display. Pressing CAM will
return the camera image to the display.
SettingsBy default, PAC is set to activate when the gear selector is moved to R
To change PAC settings when a camera view is displayed: 1. Press OK/MENU when a camera view is on
the screen. A menu will be displayed.
2. Turn TUNE to scroll to the desired setting.
3. Press OK/MENU to make the setting and
exit the menu by pressing EXIT.
Summary
•Pressing
CAM will activate the camera even
if the gear selector is not in Reverse.
• Toggle between normal view and zoom by pressing
CAM or by turning TUNE.

While driving
•If you select the manual shifting position while driving, the gear that was being used inthe Drive position will also initially beselected in the manual shifting position.
• Move the gear selector forward (toward
+) to
shift to a higher gear or rearward (toward –)
to shift to a lower gear.
• If you hold the gear selector toward "
–", the
transmission will downshift one gear at atime and will utilize the braking power of theengine. If the current speed is too high forusing a lower gear, the downshift will notoccur until the speed has decreased enoughto allow the lower gear to be used.
• If you slow to a very low speed, the transmis-sion will automatically shift down.
Shiftlock: Neutral (N)
If the gear selector is in the
N position and the
vehicle has been stationary for at least 3 seconds (irrespective of whether the engine is running)then the gear selector is locked. In order to move the gear selector from N to
another gear position, the brake pedal must be depressed and the ignition must be in at least position II, see Ignition modes (p. 80).
Geartronic : steering wheel paddles *
In addition to the manual gearshift function using the gear selector, this option makes it possible tomanually shift gears from the steering wheel.
Steering-wheel mounted gear shift paddles
"– ": Shift down to a lower gear.
"+ ": Shift up to a higher gear.
In order to shift gears with the paddles, they have to first be activated. The gear selector can be
in either the D or S position. Activating the paddles:
• Pull either paddle toward the steering wheel and release it; the
D in the instrument panel
will change to the number of the gear cur- rently being used. Shifting gears:
• Pull the paddle toward the steering wheeland release it.
Deactivating the paddles:
• Hold the "
+" paddle for approximately
3 seconds.
NOTE
If the gear selector was in D when paddle
shifting was activated ( D changed to the
number of the gear being used), the transmis- sion will automatically revert to D after
approximately 5 seconds if the paddles are not used to shift gears. This will not occur:

•during active driving (e.g., on a winding road, while accelerating, etc)
• if the gear selector was in
S when the
paddles were activated
If the transmission reverts to D, the paddles
will have to be reactivated (pull either paddletoward the steering wheel and release it)before they can be used to shift gears again. The paddles can also be manually deactivated by pulling both paddles toward the steeringwheel and holding them until the gear num-ber shown in the instrument panel changes to D .
Geartronic : Sport mode ( S)7
This transmission mode provides sportier shifting characteristics and enables a more active drivingstyle by making it possible to drive at higher rpmin each gear before shifting up. The engine alsoresponds faster when the accelerator pedal ispressed. To access Sport mode from Drive (
D), move the
gear selector to the left. The transmission will not switch to manual shifting mode until the gearselector is moved forward or rearward toward +or –. Sport mode can be selected any time.
NOTE
• On vehicles equipped with Sport mode, the transmission symbol in the main instrument panel will change from
D to S
when the gear selector is moved to the manual shifting mode. If the gear selectoris moved toward "+" or "-", the number ofthe gear currently being used will be dis-played, see Information displays – intro-duction (p. 69).
• Please be aware that using Sport modemay result in a slight decrease in fuel economy. Driving in
D can help improve
fuel economy.

•The tires with the most tread should always be on the rear axle (to help reduce the risk ofskidding).
• When switching between summer and wintertires, mark the tires to indicate where theywere mounted on the car, e.g., LF = left front,RR = right rear
• Tires with tread designed to roll in only onedirection are marked with an arrow on thesidewall.
• Contact a Volvo workshop if you are unsureabout the tread depth.

The jack

Changing a wheel1. Apply the parking brake and put the gear
selector in P.
2. Take out the jack *, lug wrench *, the tool for
removing the plastic covers on the wheel nuts, the towing eyelet and the wheel coverremoval tool (certain models only) stowedunder the floor of the cargo area.

7. There are two jack attachment points on
each side of the vehicle. Position the jack under the attachment point to be used on alevel, firm, non-slippery surface and crank itup until it is correctly aligned and seated inthe attachment point. Before raising the vehi-cle, check that the jack is still correctly posi-tioned in the attachment.
WARNING
There are two attachment points near the rear of the vehicle. Only the rear-most attachmentpoint is intended for the jack (see the illustra-tion).
8. Raise the vehicle until the wheel to be changed is lifted off the ground.
9. Unscrew the wheel nuts completely and remove the wheel.
WARNING
• The jack must correctly engage the jack attachment.
• Be sure the jack is on a firm, level, non-slippery surface.
• Never allow any part of your body to beextended under a vehicle supported by ajack.
• Use the jack intended for the vehiclewhen changing a tire. For any other job,use stands to support the vehicle.
• Apply the parking brake and put the gear selector in the Park (
P) position.
• Block the wheels standing on the ground, use rigid wooden blocks or large stones.
• The jack should be kept well-greased andclean, and should not be damaged.
• No objects should be placed between thebase of jack and the ground, or betweenthe jack and the attachment bar on thevehicle.
NOTE
The jack provided with your vehicle is intended to be used only in temporary situa-tions such as changing wheels in the event ofa flat tire. Only the jack that came with yourparticular model should be used to lift thevehicle. If the vehicle needs to be lifted morefrequently or for a prolonged period, using agarage jack or hoist is recommended. Alwaysfollow this device

Changing a wheel – spare wheel Wheel changes should always be carried out correctly.
Spare tire
The spare tire in your vehicle2
is called a "Tem-
porary Spare". Recommended tire pressure (see the placard on the B-pillar or on the fuel filler door) should bemaintained irrespective of which position on thevehicle the temporary spare tire is used on. In the event of damage to this tire, a new one can be purchased from your Volvo retailer.
WARNING
Current legislation prohibits the use of the "Temporary Spare" tire other than as a tem-porary replacement for a punctured tire. Itmust be replaced as soon as possible by astandard tire. Road holding and handling maybe affected with the "Temporary Spare" inuse. Do not exceed 50 mph (80 km/h).
CAUTION
The vehicle must not be driven with wheels of different dimensions or with a spare tire otherthan the one that came with the vehicle. Theuse of different size wheels can seriouslydamage your car's transmission.
Spare wheelThe spare wheel is only intended for temporary use. Replace it with a normal wheel as soon aspossible. The car's handling may be altered bythe use of the spare wheel. The correct tire pres-sure for the spare wheel is stated in the tire pres-sure table, see the tire inflation decal on the driv-er's door opening.
WARNING

CAUTION
The vehicle must never be driven with more than one temporary spare wheel.
The spare wheel is located in the spare wheel well with the rim side down. There are two foamblocks, one under the spare wheel and one over/inside. The upper one contains all tools. The same bolt runs through to secure the spare wheel and the foam blocks.

Tire inflation – general information
Check tire inflation pressure regularly.

Tire inflationSee the tire inflation decal on the driver's door opening. This decal indicates the designation ofthe factory-mounted tires on your vehicle, as wellas load limits and inflation pressure.
NOTE
• The placards shown indicate inflation pressure for the tires installed on thevehicle at the factory only.
• A certain amount of air seepage from thetires occurs naturally and tire pressurefluctuates with seasonal changes in tem-perature. Always check tire pressure reg-ularly.
•Use a tire gauge to check the tire inflation pressure, including the spare, at least once amonth and before long trips. You are stronglyurged to buy a reliable tire pressure gauge,as automatic service station gauges may beinaccurate.
• Use the recommended cold inflation pres-sure for optimum tire performance and wear.
• Under-inflation or over-inflation may causeuneven treadwear patterns.
WARNING
•
Under-inflation is the most common cause of tire failure and may result insevere tire cracking, tread separation, or"blow-out," with unexpected loss of vehi-cle control and increased risk of injury.
• Under-inflated tires reduce the load car-rying capacity of your vehicle. When weather temperature changes occur, tire inflation pressures also change. A 10-degreetemperature drop causes a corresponding dropof 1 psi (7 kPa) in inflation pressure. Check yourtire pressures frequently and adjust them to theproper pressure, which can be found on the vehi-cle's tire information placard or certification label.

prevent the tire pressure monitoring system from functioning properly. Always check the system's malfunction telltale after replacing one or more tires or wheels onyour vehicle to ensure that the replacement oralternate tires and wheels allow the system tocontinue to function properly.

The system indicates low tire pressure but does not replace normal tire maintenance. Forinformation on correct tire pressure, pleaserefer to the tire inflation decal on the driver'sdoor opening or consult your Volvo retailer.
WARNING
Incorrect inflation pressure could lead to tire failure, resulting in a loss of control of thevehicle.

Tire Monitor - introduction Tire Monitor uses the rotational speed of the tires in combination with signal analysis of theABS sensor signals to determine if they areproperly inflated.
When a tire is under-inflated, its diameter (and consequently also its rotational speed) changes.By comparing the individual tires with each otherit is possible to determine if one or more tires areunder inflated. When low inflation pressure is detected or if the system is not functioning properly, Tire Monitorwill light up the tire pressure warning light (
) (also referred to as a telltale) in the
instrument panel and will display one of several messages in the text window, for example:

pressure and recalibrate if necessary.
NOTE
If a malfunction occurs in the system, the tire pressure warning light will flash for approxi-mately 1 minute and then remain illuminated.

Calibrating Tire Monitor In order for Tire Monitor to work correctly, tire pressure reference values must be set. Thismust be done each time wheels or tire pressuresare changed.
Calibration1. Switch off the engine.
2. Inflate the tires to the desired pressure (con-sult tire pressure placard located on the driv- er's side B-pillar (the structural member atthe side of the vehicle) and put the ignition in mode II, see Ignition modes (p. 80).
3. Press the MY CAR button on the center
console control panel and select

4. Press OK/MENU , select
Calibrate tire
pressure and press OK/MENU again after
all of the tires have been checked and rein- flated.
5. Drive away. > The calibration process will be completedwhile driving and will be interrupted if thevehicle is parked and the engine isswitched off. Calibration continues auto-matically when driving resumes. The sys-tem will not give any confirmation whencalibration is finished although it will stateif calibration fails. When driving with heavy loads or at sustainedhighway speeds, the tire pressure should beadjusted to the recommended inflation pressuresaccording to the tire inflation pressure placardlocated on the driver's side B-pillar (the structuralmember at the side of the vehicle, at the rear ofthe driver's door opening) or to the tire inflationpressure table in the owner's information. After adjusting inflation pressure, repeat steps 1-5 above.
NOTE
Always remember to calibrate Tire Monitor when the wheels have been changed or thetire pressure has been corrected according totire pressure placard or tire pressure table. Ifcorrect reference values have not been set,the system cannot issue low tire pressurealerts correctly.
Tire Monitor status information
The current status of the system and the tires is indicated by color-coded graphics.
This status can be displayed by pressing the MY
CAR button on the center console and going to
SettingsCar settingsTire monitoring.
The following color-coded graphics indicate:
• All green
: the system is operational and all
tire pressures are at or above the recom- mended levels.
• One yellow wheel
: the tire indicated is
under-inflated.
• All wheels yellow
: two or more tires are
under-inflated
• All wheels gray
: the system is currently
unavailable. It might be necessary to drive ata speed of at least 20 mph (30 km/h) forseveral minutes for the system to becomeoperational.
• All wheels gray in combination with the message

CAUTION
When inflating tires, press the pump's mouth- piece straight onto the valve to help avoidbending or otherwise damaging the valve.
CAUTION
•After inflating the tires, always reinstall the valve cap to help avoid damage to thevalve from dirt, gravel, etc.
• Use plastic valve caps only. Metal capscould corrode and become difficult toremove.
NOTE
•
If you change to tires with a different dimension than the factory-installed ones,the TPMS system must be reconfiguredfor these tires. This must be done by atrained and qualified Volvo service techni-cian.
• If a tire is changed, or if the TPMS sensoris moved to another wheel, the sensor'sseal, nut, and valve core should bereplaced.
• When installing TPMS sensors, the vehi-cle must be parked for at least15 minutes with the ignition off. If thevehicle is driven within 15 minutes, aTPMS error message will be displayed.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) – recalibrating
In certain cases, it may be necessary to recali- brate TPMS to conform to Volvo's recom-mended tire inflation pressures (see the tire infla-tion decal on the driver's door opening), forexample, if higher inflation pressure is necessarywhen transporting heavy loads.
Recalibrating TPMS (Canadian models
only) *
This is done in the vehicle's menu system. To recalibrate:
1. Switch off the engine.
2. Inflate the tires to the desired pressure and
put the ignition in mode I or II (see Ignition
modes (p. 80) for additional information).
3. Press the MY CAR key in the center console
control panel and select
SettingsCar
settings
Tire pressure.
4. Press OK/MENU , select
Calibrate tire
pressure and press OK/MENU again.
5. Drive the vehicle at a speed above 20 mph (30 km/h) continuously for at least 10 minutes.
> Calibration is done automatically once ini-tiated by the driver and the system does not give any confirmation when calibrationis finished.
