Load anchoring eyelets
The load anchoring eyelets in the cargo com-partment can be used to secure objects withstraps, a net, etc.
WARNING
Hard, sharp and/or heavy objects in or pro-truding from the vehicle can cause injury inthe event of hard braking.
Always secure large and heavy objects with aseat belt or cargo retaining straps.

Rear seat ski hatch
The hatch in the rear seat backrest can beopened to transport long, narrow objects suchas skis.

1. In the cargo compartment, grasp the skihatch handle and pull it down.
2.Fold down the armrest in the rear seat.
If the private locking function is used, the skihatch must be closed.

Installing and removing the cargo
compartment cover*
In the fully open position, the cover and the rearflap conceal objects in the cargo compartment.
Installing the cargo compartment cover
Press the end piece on one side of the coverinto the retaining bracket in the side panel ofthe cargo compartment.

CAUTION
When in the loading position, the cargo com-partment cover can obstruct visibility to therear. Make sure that the cargo compartmentcover is fully extended or fully retracted duringdriving.
Retracting the cover
1. From the fully opened position:
Lift the cover's handle and pull it rearward torelease the cover's attaching pins from thegrooves. Let the cover retract.
From the partially retracted position:
Grasp the handle and pull the cover out ofthe groves to the fully open position. Lift thehandle and pull it rearward to release thecover's attaching pins from the grooves. Letthe cover retract.
2. Let the cover retract with its attaching pinsabove the side panels until it stops in thefully retracted position.

Installing and removing the steel
cargo grid*
The steel cargo grid helps prevent loads or petsin the cargo compartment from being thrown for-ward into the passenger compartment.
For safety reasons, the steel grid must always beinstalled and secured correctly.
WARNING
Under no circumstances may a person be inthe cargo compartment when the vehicle ismoving. Heavy braking or a collision couldlead to serious injury.
Installation
CAUTION
The steel cargo grid may only be used in therear position (behind the rear seat) describedhere.
Before installing the steel grid, the existing plas-tic ceiling mounting consoles must be replacedwith steel consoles. Volvo recommends that theceiling consoles are only replaced by an author-ized Volvo workshop or retailer.
1.Fold down the rear seat backrests.
2. Make sure that the steel grid is facing theright direction. Lift the grid into the vehiclethrough one of the rear doors.

WARNING
Objects in the cargo compartment mustalways be securely anchored, even with a cor-rectly installed cargo net.
Installing the cargo net
WARNING
All of the cargo net's upper consoles, hooksand straps must be securely mounted andattached before the net is used.
Never use the net if it is damaged.
NOTE
With front mounting, the cargo net is mosteasily installed via a rear door.
1. Fold out the cargo net and make sure thatthe upper rod folds out and locks into posi-tion.
2.Insert one of the net's hooks into the front orrear ceiling mounting point with the straplock facing you.
3. Insert the net's other upper hook into theceiling mounting point on the opposite side.
The telescopic spring-loaded hooks makemounting easier.
Make sure that the net's hooks are pushedforward as far as possible into their respec-tive mounting points.
4.
Rear mounting.
For rear mounting:
With the cargo net hooked into the rear ceil-ing mounting points, attach the net's strapsinto the front floor eyelets in the cargo com-partment.

Service and repairs
Service the vehicle regularly. Follow Volvo's rec-ommended service intervals.
Detailed inspection and repairs may only be per-formed by an authorized workshop.
WARNING
Do not make any repairs on this vehicle your-self. Electrical cables and/or components thathave come loose may only be corrected by anauthorized workshop – an authorized Volvoworkshop is recommended.
Introduction
The maintenance services contain several checksthat require special instruments and tools andtherefore must be performed by a qualified tech-nician. To keep your Volvo in top condition, spec-ify time-tested and proven Genuine Volvo Partsand Accessories.
The Federal Clean Air Act - U.S.
The Federal Clean Air Act requires vehicle manu-facturers to furnish written instructions to the ulti-mate purchaser to assure the proper servicingand function of the components that controlemissions. These services, which are listed in the"Warranty and Service Records Information"booklet, are not covered by the warranty. You willbe required to pay for labor and material used.
Maintenance
Your Volvo passed several major inspectionsbefore it was delivered to you, in accordance withVolvo specifications. The maintenance proce-dures outlined in the Warranty and ServiceRecords Information booklet, many of which willpositively affect your vehicle's emissions, shouldbe performed as indicated. It is recommendedthat receipts for vehicle emission maintenance beretained in case questions arise concerningmaintenance. Inspection and maintenance shouldalso be performed anytime a malfunction isobserved or suspected.

Handling system updates viaDownload Center
System updates for Internet-connected vehiclesand infotainment can be updated via DownloadCenter. Updates can be done one at a time orall at the same time.
Searching for update
If an update is available, themessage New softwareupdates available will be dis-played in the center display'sstatus field.
In order for system updates to be possible, the
vehicle must have an Internet connection2.
–Go to Download Center in the center dis-play's App view.
>If no search has been performed sincethe last time the infotainment system wasstarted, a search will be initiated. Nosearch will begin if a software download isin progress.
A number in System updates showshow many updates are available. Tap todisplay a list of updates that can be instal-led in the vehicle.

Hoisting the vehicle
When hoisting the vehicle, it is important toensure the jack/vehicle hoist is correctlyengaged in the designated attachment pointsunder the vehicle.
For vehicles with self-leveling*, pneumatic sus-pension (if installed) must be turned off beforethe vehicle is lifted. Turning off the function in thecenter display.
WARNING
If the vehicle is lifted on a garage jack, thejack must be placed under one of the four lift-ing points. Make sure that the vehicle is cor-rectly positioned on the jack and that it can-not slide off. Make sure the jack plate has arubber pad to help keep the vehicle stableand prevent damage. Always use axle standsor similar.
NOTE
Volvo recommends only using the jackintended for your specific vehicle model. If ajack other than that recommended by Volvo isused, follow the instructions included with theequipment.
The vehicle's ordinary jack is only intended tobe used in temporary situations for short peri-ods of time, such as when changing wheels inthe event of a flat tire. If the vehicle needs tobe lifted more frequently, or for a longerperiod of time than for a wheel change, agarage jack or hoist is recommended. Alwaysfollow the instructions for use provided withthe equipment.

Opening and closing the hood
To open the hood, pull the lever in the passen-ger compartment and then turn the handle underthe hood.
Opening the hood
Pull the lever near the pedals to release thehood from its fully closed position.
Swipe your hand from left to right under thehood, grasp the handle and move it up and tothe side to release the catch and lift thehood.
Warning - hood not closed
When the hood is released, a warningsymbol and graphic will be displayed inthe instrument panel and an audiblesignal will sound. If the vehicle beginsto roll, the audible signal will be repeated severaltimes.
NOTE
If the warning symbol is illuminated or anaudible warning signal sounds even thoughthe hood is securely closed, consult a work-shop - an authorized Volvo workshop is rec-ommended.
Closing the hood
1. Press down the hood until it begins to closeunder its own weight.
2. When the hood reaches the catch at thehandle in the front edge of the vehicle, pressdown on the hood to close it completely.
WARNING
Risk of injury! When closing, make sure thatthe hood is completely unobstructed and thatno one can be injured.
WARNING
Make sure the hood locks securely after clos-ing. It must audibly lock on both sides.

WARNING
Never drive with the hood open!
If there are any indications while driving thatthe hood is not completely closed, stop imme-diately and close it securely.

Climate control system service
Service and repairs on the air conditioning sys-tem should only be done by an authorized work-shop.
Troubleshooting and repairs
The air conditioning system contains a fluores-cent tracer substance. Ultraviolet light is used tosearch for leaks in the system.
Volvo recommends contacting an authorizedVolvo workshop.
Vehicles with R134a refrigerant
WARNING
The air conditioning system contains therefrigerant R134a under pressure. Serviceand repairs to the system should only be doneby an authorized workshop.

Replacing a windshield with head-
up display*
Vehicles with a head-up display have a specialtype of windshield that meets the requirementsfor displaying projected information.
Volvo recommends contacting an authorizedVolvo workshop for assistance replacing thewindshield. The correct type of replacementwindshield must be used in order for the head-updisplay to function properly.

Engine compartment overview
This overview shows some service-related com-ponents.
Some of the components included in the vehi-cle's electric drive system are located in theengine compartment. Exercise caution whenaccessing the engine compartment and onlytouch what is required for normal maintenance.
WARNING
Orange wiring may only be handled by quali-fied personnel.
WARNING
Several components in the vehicle work withhigh voltage that can be hazardous in case ofan incorrect procedure.
Do not touch anything that is not clearlydescribed in this Owner's Manual.
Be careful when checking/filling fluids inthe engine compartment.
The layout of the engine compartment may vary depend-ing on model and engine variant.

WARNING
Bear in mind that the cooling fan (located atthe front of the engine compartment behindthe radiator) may start or continue runningautomatically up to about 6 minutes after theengine is turned off.
Always entrust engine washing to a workshop– an authorized Volvo workshop is recom-mended. If the engine is hot, there is a risk offire.
WARNING
The ignition system works with extremely highand dangerous voltages. The vehicle electricalsystem should always be in ignition mode 0when work in being performed in the enginecompartment.
Do not touch any spark plugs or ignition coilswhen the vehicle electrical system is in igni-tion mode II or when the engine is warm.

Engine oil
For the recommended service intervals and war-ranties to be applied, an approved engine oilmust be used.
Volvo recommends:
If the engine oil is not checked regularly and thelevel becomes low, this could cause seriousengine damage.
CAUTION
To satisfy the requirements for the engine'sservice intervals, all engines are factory-filledwith a specially adapted synthetic engine oil.Great care has been put into the choice of oil,with consideration given to service life, starta-bility, fuel consumption and environmentalimpact.
For the recommended service intervals toapply, an approved engine oil must be used.Only use the prescribed oil grade to top off orchange the oil. Otherwise, there is a risk ofthe vehicle's service life, startability, fuel con-sumption and environmental impact beingaffected.
Failure to use engine oil of the prescribedgrade and viscosity could cause damage toengine-related components. Volvo Car Corpo-ration disclaims warranty liability for such typeof damage.
Volvo recommends entrusting oil changes toan authorized Volvo workshop.
Volvo uses different systems to warn if the oillevel is too low/high or the oil pressure is low. Onengine variants with an oil pressure sensor, a
warning symbol is displayed in the instrument
panel when oil pressure is low . On engine
variants with an oil level sensor, the warn-ing symbol in the instrument panel and displaymessages are used to alert the driver. Someengine variants have both systems. Contact aVolvo retailer for more information.
Change the engine oil and oil filter according tothe schedule specified in the Warranty and Main-tenance Records Information booklet. Oils of ahigher grade than that specified may be used. Ifthe vehicle is driven in adverse conditions, Volvorecommends using an oil with a higher gradethan that specified.
