INDIVIDUAL
Customizes drive mode to personal preferen-ces.
Select one of the drive modes as a basis andadjust the settings to achieve your preferred driv-ing characteristics. These settings will be storedin your driver profile.
Individual drive mode is only available if it hasbeen activated in the center display.

1.Tap Settings in the Top view.
2.Tap My CarIndividual Drive Mode andselect Individual Drive Mode.
3.Under Presets, select one of the followingdrive modes as a basis: Pure, Hybrid orPower.
The following settings can be modified:
Driver Display
Steering Force
Powertrain Characteristics
Brake Characteristics
Suspension Control
ECO Climate.

Using the electric or combustion
engine
An advanced control system determines the dis-tance that the vehicle can be driven on the com-bustion engine, electric motor, or both at thesame time.
Its primary function is to use the motor/engineand the current available in the hybrid battery asefficiently as possible based on the characteris-tics of the various drive modes and the poweroutput requested by the driver by pressing theaccelerator pedal.
In certain cases, temporary limitations in the sys-tem or mandatory functions to help maintain alow overall emissions level may result in greateruse of the combustion engine.

Changing drive mode
Select the drive mode that is best suited to thecurrent driving conditions.
The drive mode is changed using the control inthe tunnel console.
Keep in mind that not all drive modes are availa-ble in all situations.
To change drive mode:
1.Press the DRIVE MODE control.
>A pop-up menu will appear in the centerdisplay.
2. Roll the wheel upward or downward to thedesired drive mode.
3. Press the drive mode control or tap its buttonin the center display to confirm the selection.
> The selected drive mode is shown in theinstrument panel.
If a drive mode is grayed out in the pop-up menu,it cannot be selected.

Leveling control settings*
Turn off leveling control before lifting the vehiclewith a jack to help avoid problems with thepneumatic suspension.
The vehicle can be lowered or raised to make iteasier to load or for passengers to get in andout.

Adjusting loading mode
Use the buttons in the cargo compartment toraise or lower the rear section of the vehicle tofacilitate loading or unloading the vehicle or con-necting or disconnecting a trailer.

Center display settings
Easy Entry and Exit Suspension Control
The vehicle can be lowered to make it easier toget in and out.
Activating easy entry in the center display:
1.Tap Settings in the Top view.
2.Tap My CarMirrors and Convenience.
3.Select Easy Entry and Exit SuspensionControl.
>When the vehicle is parked and theengine is turned off, the level is lowered.(Level adjustment will stop if a side dooris opened and will resume after a slightdelay when the door has been closed.)When the engine is started and the vehi-cle begins to move, the level will be raisedto the height set by the selected drivemode.
Disable Leveling Control
In certain situations, this function must be turnedoff, e.g. before the vehicle is raised using a jack*.The level difference caused by raising the vehiclewith a jack could cause problems with the pneu-matic suspension.
Turning off the function in the center display:
1.Tap Settings in the Top view.
2.Tap My CarParking Brake andSuspension.
3.Select Disable Leveling Control.

Low Speed Control
The low-speed function, Low Speed Control(LSC), facilitates and improves control and trac-tion on rough roads and slippery surfaces, e.g.when towing a trailer on grass or up boat ramps.
The function is included in the Off Road drivemode.
Low Speed Control is designed for driving onrough roads and when towing trailers at lowspeeds, up to approximately 40 km/h (25 mph).
When driving at low speeds, LSC prioritizes lowgears and all-wheel drive to help avoid wheel spinand improve traction on all wheels. The accelera-tor pedal will be less responsive to improve trac-tion and speed control at low speeds.
The function is activated together with HillDescent Control (HDC), which makes it possibleto control speed going down steep hills using theaccelerator pedal and reduces the need to usethe brake pedal. The system makes it possible tomaintain a low and uniform speed when drivingdown steep hills.

When LSC with HDC is activated in the OFFROAD drive mode, the feel of the acceleratorpedal and engine response will change.

This drive mode is not designed to be usedfor normal street driving.

There is a function button for driving at lowspeeds with Hill Descent Control in the centerdisplay's Function view if the vehicle is notequipped with a drive mode control in the tunnelconsole.

Activating and deactivating HillDescent Control using the functionbutton
There is a function button for assistance onsteep gradients with Hill Descent Control inthe center display's Function view if the vehicleis not equipped with a drive mode control in thetunnel console.

Economical driving
Drive economically and more environmentallyconscious by thinking ahead, avoiding rapidstarts and stops and adapting driving style andspeed to the current traffic conditions.
To help achieve the greatest distance with thelowest fuel consumption with Twin Engine,observe the following:

Charge
Charge the vehicle regularly by plugging itinto an electrical outlet. Make it a habit toalways begin trips with the hybrid battery fullycharged.
Locate charging stations along your route.
If possible, choose parking spots with charg-ing stations.

NOTE
Charge the vehicle from the electricity grid asoften as possible!

"Hold" and "Charge" functions
In certain situations, it can be useful to controlthe hybrid battery's charge level while driving.This is possible with the Hold and Charge func-tions.
Hold and Charge are available in all drivemodes. The functions will switch off if Pure drivemode is activated.

Function buttons for Hold and Charge
The functions can be activated in the center dis-play's Function view.

Hold
Battery level sustained forlater use.
This function retains the chargein the hybrid battery for theelectric motor and saves availa-ble electrical current for use ata later time, such as when driving in an urbanarea or residential neighborhood.
The vehicle will function as in normal hybrid driv-ing with a discharged battery - in addition toreusing energy from e.g. regenerative braking, thecombustion engine will be used more frequentlyto maintain the charge in the battery.
Charge
Engine charges hybridbattery.
This function charges thehybrid battery with the help ofthe combustion engine forincreased use of the electricmotor at a later time.

The symbol is displayed in the hybrid battery gaugewhen Hold is activated.

Opening/closing the fuel filler door
A button on the instrument panel is used tounlock the fuel filler door.
An arrow next to the fuel pumpsymbol in the instrument panelindicates the side of the vehicleon which the fuel filler door islocated.
1. Press the button on the dashboard.
>Pressure equalization in the fuel tank cau-ses a slight delay before the fuel fillerdoor opens. Fuel tank Fuel lid isopening will be displayed in the instru-ment panel, followed by Fuel tank Readyfor refueling.

NOTE
Refueling must be done within approximatelyseven minutes of opening the fuel filler door.After this time, the valve opened by pushingthe button for opening the fuel filler door willclose and it will no longer be possible torefuel without the pump's nozzle switching off.
If the valve is closed before refueling is com-plete - press the button again and wait untilthe driver display shows the message Fueltank Ready for refueling.
2. After refueling, press the fuel filler doorlightly to close it.

Refueling
The fuel tank is equipped with a fuel filling sys-tem without a cover.

Refueling the vehicle at a service
station
Refueling is done as follows.
1.Turn off the engine and open the fuel fillerdoor.
NOTE
Refueling must be done within approximatelyseven minutes of opening the fuel filler door.After this time, the valve opened by pushingthe button for opening the fuel filler door willclose and it will no longer be possible torefuel without the pump's nozzle switching off.
If the valve is closed before refueling is com-plete - press the button again and wait untilthe driver display shows the message Fueltank Ready for refueling.
2. Select a fuel approved for use in the vehicle.For more information on approved fuels, seethe section on “Fuel”.
3.Insert the pump's nozzle into the fuel fillerpipe's opening. There are two flaps justinside the fuel filler pipe and the pump's noz-zle must push both of these flaps openbefore fuel can be added.
4. Avoid overfilling the tank. Do not press thehandle on the filler nozzle again after it hasinitially stopped pumping.
> The fuel tank is now filled.

NOTE
An over-full tank may overflow in hot weather.

CAUTION
Avoid spilling gasoline during refueling. Inaddition to causing damage to the environ-ment, gasolines containing alcohol can causedamage to painted surfaces, which may notbe covered under the New Vehicle LimitedWarranty.

Refueling from a fuel container
When filling from a fuel container, use the funnelprovided in a foam block under the floor hatch inthe cargo compartment.
1. Open the fuel filler door.
2. Insert the funnel into the fuel filler pipe'sopening. There are two flaps just inside thefuel filler pipe and the tube section of thefunnel must push both of these flaps openbefore fuel can be added.

Emission controls

Three-way catalytic converter
Keep your engine properly tuned. Certainengine malfunctions, particularly involving theelectrical, fuel or distributor ignition systems,may cause unusually high three-way catalyticconverter temperatures. Do not continue tooperate your vehicle if you detect enginemisfire, noticeable loss of power or otherunusual operating conditions, such as engineoverheating or backfiring. A properly tunedengine will help avoid malfunctions thatcould damage the three-way catalytic con-verter.
Do not park your vehicle over combustiblematerials, such as grass or leaves, which cancome into contact with the hot exhaust sys-tem and cause such materials to ignite undercertain wind and weather conditions.
Excessive starter cranking (in excess of oneminute), or an intermittently firing or floodedengine can cause three-way catalytic con-verter or exhaust system overheating.
Remember that tampering or unauthorizedmodifications to the engine, the Engine Con-trol Module, or the vehicle may be illegal andcan cause three-way catalytic converter orexhaust system overheating. This includes:altering fuel injection settings or compo-nents, altering emission system components
or location or removing components, and/orrepeated use of leaded fuel.

NOTE
Unleaded fuel is required for vehicles withthree-way catalytic converters.

Heated oxygen sensors
The heated oxygen sensors monitor the oxygencontent of the exhaust gases. Readings are fedinto a control module that continuously monitorsengine functions and controls fuel injection. Theratio of fuel to air into the engine is continuouslyadjusted for efficient combustion to help reduceharmful emissions.

Overheating of engine andtransmission
In demanding driving conditions, such as drivingin mountainous areas or hot weather, there is arisk of the engine or transmission overheating,especially when carrying heavy loads.
Engine power may be temporarily limited.
Remove any auxiliary lights mounted in frontof the grille when driving in hot weather.
If the temperature in the engine's coolingsystem becomes too high, a warning symbolwill appear in the instrument panel along withthe message Engine temperature Hightemperature Stop safely. Pull over to asafe location and let the engine idle for a fewminutes to cool down.
If the message Engine temperature Hightemperature Turn off engine or Enginecoolant Level low, turn off engine is dis-played, stop the vehicle and turn off theengine.
If the transmission begins to overheat, analternative gear shifting program will beselected. An integrated protective functionwill also be activated, the warning symbol willilluminate and the message Transmissionwarm Reduce speed to lowertemperature or Transmission hot Stopsafely, wait for cooling will be displayed inthe instrument panel.
