16. Check the inflation pressure on the air
pressure gauge.
If the pressure is under 1.3 bar (19 psi), the tire is not sufficiently sealed. Thevehicle should not be driven. Call road-side assistance to have the vehicletowed.
If the inflation pressure is higher than1.3 bar (19 psi), the tire must be inflatedto the inflation pressure specified onthe tire pressure decal on the driver'sside door pillar (1 bar = 100 kPa =14.5 psi). If the inflation pressure is toohigh, use the air release valve to releaseair.
WARNING
Check inflation pressure regularly.
Volvo recommends driving to the nearest authorized Volvo workshop to have the tirereplaced/repaired. Inform the workshop thatthe tire contains sealing compound. The sealing compound bottle and the hose must be replaced after use. Volvo recom-mends contacting an authorized Volvo work-shop for replacement.
WARNING
After using the tire sealing system, the vehicle should not be driven farther thanapproximately 200 km (120 miles).
NOTE
The compressor is an electric device. Fol- low local regulations for disposal.

The vehicle's original tires can be inflated using the compressor in the tire sealing sys-tem.
1. The compressor must be switched off. Make sure that the switch is in the 0 (Off)
position and take out the electrical cable and the hose.
2. Unscrew the tire's valve cap and screw the hose's valve connector as far as possi-ble onto the valve. Be sure the air release valve on the com- pressor's hose is completely closed.
3. Connect the electrical cable to the nearest 12 V outlet and start the vehicle.
WARNING
Inhaling exhaust fumes could lead to seri- ous injury. Never leave the engine runningin an enclosed space or a space withoutsufficient ventilation.

Never leave children unattended in the vehicle while the engine is running.

5664. Start the compressor by moving the
switch to the I (On) position.
CAUTION
Risk of overheating. The compressor should not be running for longer than 10minutes at a time.
5. Inflate the tire to the pressure specified on
the tire pressure decal on the driver's side door pillar. If the inflation pressure is toohigh, use the air release valve to releaseair.
6. Switch off the compressor. Remove the hose and the electrical cable.
7. Screw the valve cap back onto the tire.
NOTE
After inflating a tire, always replace the valve cap to help prevent valve damagecaused by gravel, dirt, etc.
Use plastic valve caps only. Metal capscould corrode and become difficult toremove.
NOTE

Determining the vehicle's permitted weight
Properly loading your vehicle will provide maximum return of vehicle design perform-ance.
Weight designationsBefore loading your vehicle, familiarize your- self with the following terms for determiningyour vehicle's weight ratings, with or without atrailer, from the vehicle's Federal/CanadianMotor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS/CMVSS) label, and the vehicle's tire informa-tion placard:
Curb weight
The weight of the vehicle including a full tank of fuel and all standard equipment. It does notinclude passengers, cargo, or optional equip-ment.
Capacity weight
All weight added to the curb weight, including cargo and optional equipment. When towing,towbar weight is also part of cargo weight.
Permissible axle weight
The maximum allowable weight that can be carried by a single axle (front or rear). Thesenumbers are shown on the Federal/CanadianMotor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS/CMVSS) label. The total load on each axlemust never exceed its maximum permissibleweight.

Steps for Determining Correct Load
Limit
1. Locate the statement "the combined weight of occupants and cargo shouldnever exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs." on yourvehicle's placard.
2. Determine the combined weight of the driver and passengers that will be riding inyour vehicle.
3. Subtract the combined weight of the driver and passengers from XXX kg or XXXlbs.
4. The resulting figure equals the available amount of cargo and luggage loadcapacity. For example, if the "XXX"amount equals 1400 lbs. and there will befive 150 lb. passengers in your vehicle, theamount of available cargo and luggageload capacity is 650 lbs. (1400 - 750 (5 ×150) = 650 lbs.)
5. Determine the combined weight of lug- gage and cargo being loaded on the vehi-cle. That weight may not safely exceed theavailable cargo and luggage load capacitycalculated in Step 4. 6. If your vehicle will be towing a trailer, load
from your trailer will be transferred to yourvehicle. Consult this manual to determinehow this reduces the available cargo andluggage load capacity of your vehicle.WARNING
Exceeding the permissible axle weight, gross vehicle weight, or any otherweight rating limits can cause tire over-heating resulting in permanent defor-mation or catastrophic failure.
Do not use replacement tires withlower load carrying capacities than thetires that were original equipment onthe vehicle because this will lower thevehicle's GVW rating. Use only tireswith the correct load carrying capacity.Consult your Volvo retailer for informa-tion.

Hoisting the vehicle
When hoisting the vehicle, it is important that the jack is positioned on the designatedpoints under the vehicle.
For vehicles with Leveling Control* : If the
vehicle is equipped with pneumatic suspen- sion, this feature must be turned off before thevehicle is lifted onto a tow truck.
WARNING
If the vehicle is lifted on a garage jack, the jack must be placed under one of the fourlifting points. Make sure that the vehicle iscorrectly positioned on the jack and that itcannot slide off. Make sure the jack platehas a rubber pad to help keep the vehiclestable and prevent damage. Always useaxle stands or similar.
NOTE
Volvo recommends only using the jack intended for your specific vehicle model. Ifa jack other than that recommended byVolvo is used, follow the instructionsincluded with the equipment. The vehicle's ordinary jack is only intended to be used in temporary situations for shortperiods of time, such as when changingwheels in the event of a flat tire. If the vehi-cle needs to be lifted more frequently, orfor a longer period of time than for a wheelchange, a garage jack or hoist is recom-mended. Always follow the instructions foruse provided with the equipment.

Cleaning the interior
Only use cleaning agents and car care prod- ucts recommended by Volvo. Clean regularlyand treat stains immediately. It is importantto vacuum before using a cleaning agent.
CAUTION
Some colored clothing (for example, dark jeans and suede garments) maystain the upholstery. If this occurs, it isimportant to clean and treat theseparts of the upholstery as soon as pos-sible.
Never use strong solvents such aswasher fluid, gasoline, mineral spirit orconcentrated alcohol to clean the inte-rior as this can damage the upholsteryas well as other interior materials.
Never spray cleaning agent directlyonto components that have electricalbuttons and controls. Wipe insteadwith a damp cloth with cleaning agent.
Sharp objects and Velcro can damagethe car's textile upholstery.
Only use cleaning agent on the type ofmaterial it is intended for.

Cleaning the center display
Marks, stains, finger smudges etc. on the center display may affect its performance andreadability. Clean the screen regularly with amicrofiber cloth.
1. Turn off the center display by pressing and holding the Home button.
2. Wipe the screen clean with the microfiber cloth provided or use another microfiber cloth of similar quality. Wipe the screenwith a clean, dry microfiber cloth usingsmall, circular motions. If necessary, mois-ten the cloth slightly.
3. Reactivate the display by pressing the Home button briefly.

CAUTION
The microfiber cloth must be free of sand and dirt when cleaning the center display.
CAUTION
When cleaning the center display, apply only light pressure to the screen. Pressingtoo hard could damage the screen.
CAUTION
Do not spray liquid or corrosive chemicals directly onto the center display. Do not usewindow cleaners, cleaning agents, aerosolsprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia ordetergents that contain abrasives. Never use abrasive cloths, paper towels or tissue paper, as these may scratch the cen-ter display.

Use soapy water or a similar detergent. For more difficult stains caused by oil, ice cream,shoe polish, etc., use a stain remover. Consultwith your Volvo retailer.

Remove the inlay mats to clean the floor mats and inlay mats separately. Each inlay mat issecured into place with pins.
1. Remove the inlay mat by grasping the inlay mat at each pin and lifting the mat straight up.
2. Use a vacuum to remove dust and dirt.
NOTE
Do not swing or strike the inlay mats vio- lently against another object to remove dirtas this could damage the mats.
3. After vacuuming, a specially designed tex- tile cleaning agent should be used to remove stains on floor mats. Floor matsshould be cleaned with products recom-mended by Volvo retailers.
4. After cleaning, put the inlay mat back into place by pressing it in at each pin.

WARNING
Never use more than one inlay mat at a time on the driver's floor. If any othertype of floor mat is used, remove theoriginal mat from the driver's seat floorbefore driving. All types of mats mustbe securely anchored in the attach-ment points in the floor. Make sure thefloor mat does not impede the move-ment of the brake pedal or acceleratorpedal in any way, as this could be aserious safety hazard.
Volvo's floor mats are specially manu-factured for your vehicle. They must beproperly secured in the attachmentpoints in the floor to help ensure theycannot slide and become trappedunder the pedals.

Volvo's leather upholstery * is treated to pro-
tect its original appearance. Over time, sun- light, grease, dirt, etc. could break down theprotective layer. This could result in scratchesand cracking. Leather upholstery * is a natural product that
changes and acquires a beautiful patina over time. Regular cleaning and treatments arerequired to preserve the qualities and color ofthe leather. Volvo offers a comprehensiveproduct, Volvo Leather Care KitWipes, forcleaning and treating leather upholstery.When used as directed, it helps preserve theleather's protective coating. For optimal results, Volvo recommends clean- ing and applying protective cream one to fourtimes a year (or more often as needed). VolvoLeather Care Kit 951 0251 and Volvo LeatherSoftener 943 7429 are available for purchaseat Volvo retailers.
Cleaning the leather upholstery1. Apply the leather cleaner to a damp sponge and squeeze it until the cleanerfoams. 2. Move the sponge in circular motions to
apply the foam to the stain.
3. Dampen the stain thoroughly with the sponge. Let the sponge absorb the stainand do not rub.
4. Dry the stain using a soft towel and let the leather dry completely.
Protecting the leather upholstery1. Apply a small amount of leather protectorto a cloth and then apply the protector tothe leather using light circular movements.
2. Let it dry for approximately 20 minutes. > Protecting the leather upholsterymakes it better able to withstand sun-light's harmful UV rays.
