Donotsqueezerigidobjectsbetweenthe
rearseatcushionandthefrontseatback-
rest.Makesureyoudonottoobstructthe
functionoftheWHIPSsystem.

Ifarearseatbackrestisfoldeddown,the
correspondingfrontseatmustbemoved
forwardsothatitdoesnottouchthe
foldedbackrest.
WARNING!
Ifaseathasbeensubjectedtoextreme
forces,suchasduetoarearcollision,the
WHIPSsystemmustbecheckedbyan
authorisedVolvoworkshop.
PartoftheWHIPSsystem’sprotective
capacitymayhavebeenlostevenifthe
seatsappeartobeundamaged.Contact
anauthorisedVolvoworkshoptohavethe
systemcheckedevenafteraminorrear-
endcollision.

adjustthedistancetothesteering
wheelandpedals.Checkthattheseatis
lockedafterchangingposition
2.Raise/lowerfrontedgeofseatcushion:
pumpup/down
3.Raise/lowerseat:pumpup/down
4.Lumbarsupport:turnthewheel
5.Backrestrake:turnthewheel
6.Powerseatcontrolpanel.
LoweringthefrontseatbackrestThefrontpassengerseatbackrestcanbe
foldedtoahorizontalpositiontomakeroom
foralongload.Foldthebackrestasfollows:
–Movetheseatasfarbackaspossible.
–Adjustthebackresttotheupright
position.
–Liftthecatchesontherearofthe
backrest.
–Foldthebackrestforward.
–Slidetheseatforwardsothatthehead
restraintis"lockedinplace"underthe
glovebox.
WARNING!
Adjustthepositionofthedriver’sseat
beforesettingoff,neverwhiledriving.
Checkthattheseatislockedinposition.

adjustedtofourdifferentheights.Slidethe
headrestraintupasdesired.Pressinthe
releasebuttontolowerit.Seeillustration!
Notethattheheadrestraintcannotbe
removedcompletely!
WARNING!
Thelowestpositionshouldonlybeused
whenthebackrestistobefoldeddownor
whennooneissittinginthisseat.
Afterraisingthebackrestsinthesecond
andthirdrow,itisimportanttomakesure
thatthebackrestshavelockedinto
position.Otherwisetheprotectivesystem
oftheseatsmaybecompromised.

1.Liftthehandleupward.
2.Slidetheseatcushiontoitsrearmost
position.Foldintherightandleft-hand
cargoeyesinordertoavoiddamage
whenloweringthebackrest.
3.Folddownthebackrest(Thehead
restraintfoldsinautomaticallywhenthe
backrestisfolded).
Repositioningtheseatsinthe
thirdrow–Raisethebackresttoitsnormalposition.
–Takeholdoftheeyesandpullouttheseat
cushionuntilyouhearaclick.
–Raisetheheadrestraint.
Theseatisnowreadyforuse.
WARNING!
Forreasonsofsafety,nopassengers
shouldsitinthethirdrowofseatsifthe
outerheadrestraintsinthesecondrow
arelowered.

CargocompartmentFoldingupthesafetynetThesafetynetcanbefoldedupandplacedin
thecargocompartmentfloor(forcarsseating
five).
Pressthebuttons(1)inthesafetynethinges
toreleasethehingesandfoldupthenet.
Steelsafetygrille(option)Theprotectivegrilleinthecargo
compartmentpreventscargoorpetsfrom
beingthrownforwardinthepassenger
compartmentintheeventofheavybraking.
Forreasonsofsafety,theprotectivegrille
mustalwaysbemountedandsecured
correctly.
Fittheprotectivegrilleasfollows:
–Liftintheprotectivegrillethroughthe
tailgateopeningoroneoftherear
doorways(folddowntheseatsinthe
secondrowifnecessary).–Insertoneoftheprotectivegrille
mountingsinitsbracketabovetherear
doorbehindthesecondrowofseats.
–Slidetheprotectivegrillemountingtothe
frontpositionofthebracket.
–Placetheotherprotectivegrillemounting
initsbracketabovetheotherreardoor
andslideittothefrontposition.
–Inserttheattachingbracethroughthe
lowermountingintheprotectivegrille
fromunderneath,asindicatedintheillus-
tration.
–Fitthespringontheattachingbraceand
screwintheknob.
WARNING!
Makesurethattheuppermountingsofthe
safetynetarecorrectlyfittedandthatthe
anchoringstrapsaresecurelyfastened.
Donotuseadamagednet.
