GeneralDonotoverloadthebatteryTheelectricalfunctionsinthecarloadthe
batterytovaryingdegrees.Avoidhavingthe
ignitionkeyinpositionIIwhentheengineis
turnedoff.UsepositionIinstead,asless
powerisused.The12voltoutletinthecargo
areasuppliespowerevenwhentheignition
keyisremoved.
Examplesoffunctionsthatusealotofpower:
ventilationfan
windscreenwipers
audiosystem
parkinglights.
Alsotakenoteofdifferentaccessoriesthat
loadtheelectricalsystem.Donotuse
functionstheconsumealotofcurrentwhen
theengineisswitchedoff.Atextisshownon
thedisplayinthecombinedinstrumentpanel
ifbatteryvoltageislowandremainsuntilthe
enginehasstarted.Theenergyeconomy
functionshutsdowncertainfunctionsor
reducestheloadonthebattery,e.g.by
loweringventilationfanspeedandswitching
offtheaudiosystem.
Chargethebatterybystartingtheengine.
Donotallowtheengineand
coolingsystemtooverheatUndercertainconditions,e.g.whendrivingin
hillyterrainorwithaheavyload,especiallyin
warmweather,thereisariskoftheengine
andcoolingsystemoverheating.
Toavoidthecoolingsystemoverheating
Driveatlowspeedsifdrivingwithatrailer
upalongincline.
Donotturntheengineoffimmediately
youstop,ifthecarhasbeendrivenhard.
Removeanyauxiliarylampsfrominfront
ofthegrilleifdrivinginextremehigh
temperatures.
Toavoidtheengineoverheating
Donotexceedenginespeedsof4500rpm
(dieselengine:3500rpm)ifdrivingwitha
trailerorcaravaninhillyterrain.Theoil
temperaturecanbecometoohigh.Donotdrivewiththetailgate
openIfyoudrivewiththetailgateopen,someofthe
exhaustgasesandpoisonouscarbon
monoxidecouldbesuckedintothecar
throughthecargoarea.Ifyoumustdrivea
shortdistancewiththetailgateopen,
proceedasfollows:
Closeallwindows.Distributetheairbetweenthewindscreen
andfloorwhilerunningthefanathigh
speed.

–Ensurethattheorangeswitch(2)isin
position0andtakeoutthelead(5)and
airhose(4)fromtheside
compartment(3).
–Screwtheairhose’svalveconnectionto
thebottomofthethreadonthetyre’sair
valve.
–Connectthelead(5)tooneofthecar’s
12Vsockets.
–Starttheengine.Thecarmustbeina
well-ventilatedplace.–Startthecompressorbyflickingthe
switch(2)topositionI.
–Pumpupthetyretothepressure
specifiedonthetyrepressurelabel.
–Turnoffthecompressor,theswitch(2)
shouldbeinposition0.Detachtheair
hoseandunplugthelead.Replacethe
valve’sdustcap.
–Putthelead(5)andairhose(4)intothe
sidecompartment(3).
–Putthepuncturerepairkitbackunderthe
floorinthecargoarea.
–Thecompressorshouldnotrunformore
thantenminutesatatime.Letitcool
afterwardsasthereisariskof
overheating.–Objectswithavolumeofupto50litres
canbepumpedupwiththecompressor.
WARNING!
Inhalingcarexhaustfumescanresultin
dangertolife.Neverleavetheengine
runninginsealedareasorareasthatlack
sufficientventilation.

Keeptheemergencyrepairkitinasafe
placeinthecar.
–Immediatelydriveabout3km,ata
maximumspeedof80km/h,toallowthe
sealingfluidtosealthetyrewell.
–Checkthetyrepressureagain:
NOTE!Donotraisetheorange-coloured
part(7)whenonlythecompressoristobe
usedforinflation.–Connecttheairhose(4)totheairvalve
onthetyre.
–Connectthelead(5)tothe12Vpower
point.Readthepressureonthe
compressor.Ifthetyrepressureisbelow
1.3bar,thetyrehasnotbeensufficiently
wellsealed.Thejourneyshouldnotbe
continuedunderthesecircumstances.
Contactatyrecentre.
–Ifthetyrepressureishigherthan1.3bar,
thetyreshouldbepumpeduptothe
pressurestatedonthetyrepressure
label,seepage151foritslocation.
Releasepressurewiththereduction
valve(8)ifthetyrepressureistoohigh.
–Turnoffthecompressor,theswitch(2)
shouldbeinposition0.Detachtheair
hoseandunplugthelead.Replacethe
valve’sdustcap.
–Putthelead(5)andairhose(4)intothe
sidecompartment(3).
–Putthepuncturerepairkitbackunderthe
floorinthecargoarea.
Thecompressorshouldnotrunformorethan
tenminutesatatime.Letitcoolafterwardsas
thereisariskofoverheating.
NOTE!Thecanisterwithsealantandhose
shouldbereplacedafteruse.
WARNING!
Neverstandnexttothetyrewhenthe
compressorisrunning.Beparticularly
observantofthetyrewalls.Ifcracks,irreg-
ularitiesorotherdamageappears,turnoff
thecompressorimmediately.Underthese
circumstancesyourjourneyshouldnot
continue.Contactanauthorisedtyre
centre.
WARNING!
Youshouldnotdrivefasterthan80km/h
aftertheemergencytyrerepairkithas
beenused.Thetemporarilysealedtyre
mustbechangedassoonaspossible
(maximumdrivingdistance:200km).
