w8Do not overfill the fuel tank. Fuel expands
when it heats up. If the fuel tank is over-
filled, fuel could spill out due to heat from
the engine or the sun.
8Be careful not to spill fuel, especially on
the engine or exhaust pipe which can
cause a fire and severe injury. Wipe up
any spilled fuel immediately.
8Do not refuel right after the engine has
been running and is still very hot.
8Be sure the fuel tank cap is closed secure-

the specified level. Add oil as necessary. (See

cCBe sure to use motor oils that do not contain
anti-friction modifiers. Passenger car motor oils
(often labeled “ENERGY CONSERVING
II”)
contain anti-friction additives which will cause
clutch and/or starter clutch slippage, resulting
in reduced component life and poor engine per-
formance.

check the chain slack before every ride.
Lubricate and adjust the chain as necessary.

the idle position when released. Have a Yamaha

drivingcCBefore shifting, stop the machine and return
the throttle lever to its closed position, other-
wise the transmission may be damaged.Shifting: forward “F”
1. Bring the machine to a complete stop and
return the throttle lever to the closed posi-
tion.
2. Shift the drive select lever from neutral “N”
to forward “F” and vice versa by moving the
drive select lever along the guide.NOTE:
Make sure that the drive select lever is com-
pletely shifted into position.3. Open the throttle lever gradually.
