EBU29602BrakesReplacement of brake components requires pro-
fessional knowledge. Brake service should be
performed by a Yamaha dealer.
WARNING
EWB02572Operating with improperly serviced or adjust-
ed brakes could lead to a loss in braking ability
and an accident. EBU28414Checking the front brake pads and rear
brake friction platesThe front brake pads and the rear brake friction
plates must be checked for wear at the intervals
specified in the periodic maintenance and lubrica-
tion chart.TIPThis ATV is equipped with a wet, multiple-disc
type rear brake, which is located inside of the final
gear case.
EBU24172Front brake pads
Check each front brake pad for damage and mea-
sure the lining thickness. If a brake pad is dam-
aged or if the lining thickness is less than 1.0 mm
(0.04 in), have a Yamaha dealer replace the brake
pads as a set.TIPThe wheels need to be removed to check the
brake pads. (See page 8-61.) 1. Lining thickness

EBU28872Checking and lubricating the brake
pedalThe operation of the brake pedal should be
checked before each ride, and the pedal pivot
should be lubricated if necessary.EBU24964Checking the wheel hub bearingsThe front and rear wheel hub bearings must be
checked at the intervals specified in the periodic
maintenance and lubrication chart. If there is playin a wheel hub or if a wheel does not turn smooth-
ly, have a Yamaha dealer check the wheel hub
bearings.
EBU24974Lubricating the drive shaft universal
jointThe drive shaft universal joint must be lubricated
at the intervals specified in the periodic mainte-
nance chart.

2. Remove the seat. (See page 4-13.)
3. Remove the blown fuse, and then install a
new fuse of the specified amperage.
WARNING! Always use a fuse of the spec- ified rating, and never use a substitute ob-
ject in place of the proper fuse. An
improper fuse or a substitute object can
cause damage to the electrical system,
which could lead to a fire.
[EWB02173]
4. Turn on the main switch, start the engine, and then turn on the circuit in question.
5. If the fuse immediately blows again, have a Yamaha dealer check the vehicle.

EBU25741TroubleshootingAlthough Yamaha ATVs receive a thorough in-
spection before shipment from the factory, trouble
may occur during operation. Any problem in the
fuel, compression, or ignition systems, for exam-
ple, can cause poor starting and loss of power.
The following troubleshooting charts represent
quick and easy procedures for checking these vi-
tal systems yourself. However, should your ATV
require any repair, take it to a Yamaha dealer,
whose skilled technicians have the necessary
tools, experience, and know-how to service the
ATV properly.
Use only genuine Yamaha replacement parts. Im-
itation parts may look like Yamaha parts, but they
are often inferior, have a shorter service life and
can lead to expensive repair bills.
WARNING
EWB02281Do not smoke when checking the fuel system.
Fuel can ignite or explode, causing severe inju-
ry or property damage. Make sure there are no
open flames or sparks in the area, including pi-
lot lights from water heaters or furnaces.
