Be Prepared
Drive Responsibly
If you think or feel the vehicle may tip or roll,
reduce your risk to injury: Pay Attention and Plan Ahead
Do not allow careless or reckless driving.
Do your part to prevent injuries: Require Proper Use of Your Vehicle
Rollovers have caused
severe injuries and death,
even on flat, open areas.
Stay completely inside the vehicle.
Passengers must be able to reach the center handhold
while keeping feet flat on floor and sitting
upright with back against seat.
Driver must be able to comfortably reach all controls
while sitting upright with back against seat.
Wear an approved helmet, eye protection and protective gear.
Fasten seat belts.

Do not allow anyone to ride in the cargo bed.
Avoid side hilling (riding across slopes).
Plan for hills, rough terrain, ruts, and other changes
in traction and terrain. Avoid paved surfaces.
Avoid hard acceleration when turning, even from a stop.
Slow down before entering a turn.
Avoid abrupt maneuvers, sideways sliding, skidding,
or fishtailing, and never do donuts.
Avoid loss of control and rollovers: Do not put any part of your body outside of
the vehicle for any reason.
Keep a firm grip on the steering wheel
or handhold and brace yourself.

Do not exceed seating capacity: 2 passengers.
Do not allow operation on public roads
(unless designated for off-highway vehicle access)
— collisions with cars and trucks can occur.
Do not let people drive or ride
after using alcohol or drugs.
Make sure operators are 16 or older
with valid driver’s license.

Before you operate your Yamaha Viking●
Prepare yourself and your passengers:
This vehicle is intended for use only by an operator 16 or older with a valid motor vehicle li-cense. Check country laws for minimum age requirements.
This vehicle is designed to carry the driver and two passengers. Never carry passengers in the cargo bed.
The driver and passengers should wear seat belts properly.
The driver and passengers must be able to put both feet flat on the floorboard while seated upright with their backs against the backrests. The passengers must be able to reach and
hold the passenger handhold within the cage/frame.
The driver and passengers should wear an approved motorcycle helmet that fits properly.
The driver and passengers should also wear eye protection (goggles or a face shield),
gloves, over-the-ankle boots, long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and long pants.
Do not drive or ride as a passenger after using drugs or alcohol.

Helmet indicator light “ ”
The indicator light comes on and stays on
while the key is turned to “ ” (on) to remind
the occupants to always wear a helmet. If the
indicator light does not come on when the key
is turned to “ ” (on), have a Yamaha dealer
check the electrical circuit.
Seat belt indicator light “ ”
The indicator light comes on when the key is
turned to “ ” (on) to remind the occupants to
fasten their seat belt. The indicator light stays
on until the driver seat belt is properly latched.
If the indicator light does not come on when
the key is turned to “ ” (on), or if the indica-
tor light remains on after the driver seat belt is
properly latched, have a Yamaha dealer
check the electrical circuit.

3. Move the seat frame to the desired posi- tion and align the bolt holes in the seat
frame with the bolt holes in the vehicle
frame.
4. Install the bolts, and then tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
5. Install the cushion.

belts for the operator and passengers. Always
wear the seat belts properly while riding in the

Doing things with a Viking that some people
do for thrills in other vehicles (such as side-
ways sliding, skidding, back-wheel sliding, or
donuts) have led to side rollovers. These roll-
overs can result in crushed limbs and other
serious injuries or death to drivers or passen-
gers.
As the owner/operator, it is your responsibility
to protect yourself and your passengers from
accidents, including rollovers. The Viking has
many features, including a protective struc-
ture and seat belts, to help protect occupants,
but the best way to avoid injuries is to avoid
accidents. There is a risk of injury or death in
