Fuel tank overflow hoseBefore operating the vehicle:
 Check the fuel tank overflow hose
connection and routing.
 Check the fuel tank overflow hose
for cracks or damage, and replace
it if necessary.
 Make sure that the fuel tank over-
flow hose is not blocked, and
clean it if necessary.

Catalytic converterThe exhaust system contains catalytic
converter(s) to reduce harmful exhaust
emissions.
WARNING

The exhaust system is hot after op-
eration. To prevent a fire hazar d or
b urns:
 Do not park the vehicle near
possi ble fire hazar ds such as
g rass or other materials that
easily burn.
 Park the vehicle in a place
where pe destrians or chil dren
are not likely to touch the hot
exhaust system.
 Make sure that the exhaust sys-
tem has cooled down before
d oin g any maintenance work.
 Do not allow the en gine to id le
more than a few minutes. Lon g
i d lin g can cause a buil d-up of
heat.

TIP Storage compartment A must be
opened using the smart key sys-
tem. (See page 3-9.)
 The seat/rear storage compart-
ment can be opened using the
smart key system or the mechani-
cal key.
 Some helmets cannot be stored in
the rear storage compartment be-
cause of their size or shape.Stora ge compartment A
To open storage compartment A, turn
the main switch to “OPEN” and then
push the “LID” button.
To close storage compartment A, push
the storage compartment lid until it is
closed.
Stora ge compartment B
To open storage compartment B, push
the storage compartment lid inward to
unlock it, and then pull to open. To close storage compartment B, push
the storage compartment lid into the
original position.
Seat/rear storag

To open the seat/rear storage com-
partment via the main switchTurn the main switch to “OPEN”, and
then push the “SEAT” button.

2. Remove the windshield by remov-ing the bolts.
3. Remove the bolts, and then install the bolts in the desired position. 4. Install the windshield to the high
position by installing the bolts, and
then tighten the bolts to the spec-
ified torque. WARNING! A loose

the low position 1. Remove the bolt access covers by removing the quick fasteners.
2. Remove the windshield by remov- ing the bolts.
3. Remove the bolts, and then install the bolts in the desired position.
4. Install the windshield to the lowposition by installing the bolts, and
then tighten the bolts to the spec-

Auxiliary DC jack

The accessory connected to the
auxiliary DC jack shoul d not b e used

loa d must never exceed 12 W (1 A),
otherwise the fuse may blow or the
b attery may dischar ge.This vehicle is equipped with an auxil-
iary DC jack located within storage
compartment A.
A 12-V accessory connected to the
auxiliary DC jack can be used when the
main switch is in the “ON” position and
should only be used when the engine is
running.
To use the auxiliary DC jack
1. Open storage compartment A. (See page 3-9.) 2. Turn the main switch off.
3. Remove the auxiliary DC jack cap.
4. Turn the accessory off.
5. Insert the accessory plug into the
auxiliary DC jack.
6. Turn the main switch on, and then start the engine. (See page 7-2.) 7. Turn the accessory on.

side of the frame. Raise the sidestand
or lower it with your foot while holding
the vehicle upright.TIPThe built-in sidestand switch is part of
the ignition circuit cut-off system,
which cuts the ignition in certain situa-
tions. (See the following section for an
explanation of the ignition circuit cut-
off system.)

(or does not stay up), otherwise the

Yamaha’s ig nition circuit cut-off
system has been desi gne d to assist
the operator in fulfillin g the respon-
si bility of raisin g the si destan d b e-
fore startin g off. Therefore, check
this system re gularly an d have a
Yamaha dealer repair it if it does not
function properly.

Turn the main switch on.
Put the sidestand up.Push the start switch while applying
either of the brake levers. The engine will
start.Put the sidestand down.
If the engine stalls:
The sidestand switch is OK.Place vehicle on centerstand.
WARNING
The vehicle must be placed on the
centerstand during this inspection.
If a malfunction is found, have the vehicle
inspected before riding.
