tato della registrazione è ancora insoddisfacen-
te, è consigliabile cambiare il diametro della
parte diritta dell’ago a getto.

Change of the heat range of spark plugs
Judging from the discoloration of spark plugs, if
they are found improper, it can be corrected by
the following two methods; changing carburetor
settings and changing the heat range of spark
plug.
9In principle, it is advisable to first use spark
plugs of standard heat range, and judging from
the discoloration of spark plugs, adjust carbure-
tor settings.
9If the calibration No. of the main jet must be
changed by ±30, it is advisable to change the
heat range of spark plugs and newly select the
proper main jet.
NOTE:
9When checking the discoloration of spark
plugs, be sure to stop the engine immediately
after a run and check.
9Avoid racing.
9When changing the heat range of spark plugs,
never attempt to change it more than ±1 rank.
9When using a spark plug other than standard,
check its heat range against the standard and
check that it is a resistance type.
9Note that even if the discoloration seems prop-

Änderung des Wärmebereichs der
Zündkerzen
Falls anhand der Verfärbung der
Zündkerzen eine falsche Einstellung
beurteilt wird, dann kann diese mit
Hilfe der beiden nachfolgenden
Methoden berichtigt werden: die Ver-
gasereinstellungen ändern und den
Wärmebereich der Zündkerze ändern.
9Grundsätzlich wird empfohlen,
zuerst Zündkerzen des Standard-
Wärmebereichs zu verwenden;
danach anhand der Verfärbung der
Zündkerzen die Vergasereinstellun-
gen vornehmen.
9Falls die Kalibrierungs-Nr. der
Hauptdüse um ±30 geändert werden
muss, dann wird eine Änderung des
Wärmebereichs der Zündkerzen
empfohlen, worauf die richtige
Hauptdüse ausgewählt werden
muss.
HINWEIS:
9Wenn die Verfärbung der Zündker-
zen kontrolliert wird, die Kontrolle
unmittelbar nach dem Abschalten
des Motors ausführen.
9Den Motor nicht hochdrehen.
9Wenn der Wärmebereich der Zünd-
kerzen geändert wird, niemals um
mehr als ±1 Stufe ändern.
9Wird eine andere als eine Standard-
Zündkerze verwendet, soll man
deren Wärmebereich im Vergleich
zum Standardwert überprüfen und
sich vergewissern, dass es sich um
einen Widerstandstyp handelt.
9Auch wenn die Verfärbung richtig
erscheint, kann diese etwas in
Abhängigkeit vom Zündkerzen-Her-
steller und von dem verwendeten Öl
abweichen.

gies, si elle n’est pas normale, elle peut
être corrigée par les deux méthodes qui
suivent : changer les réglages du carbu-
rateur et changer la plage de chaleur
des bougies.
9En principe, il est recommandé d’uti-
liser d’abord la plage standard de cha-
leur des bougies et d’observer la
décoloration des bougies, en ajustant
les réglages du carburateur.
9Si le numéro de calibrage du gicleur
principal doit être changé par ±30, il
est recommandé de changer la plage
de chaleur des bougies et de sélection-
ner un autre gicleur principal correct.
N.B.:
9Lors du contrôle de la décoloration
des bougies, attention à bien arrêter le
moteur immédiatement après un tour
et vérifier.
9Eviter de faire la course.
9En changeant la plage de chaleur des
bougies, ne jamais essayer de la chan-
ger de ±1 degré.
9Dans le cas de l’utilisation d’une bou-
gie autre que standard, vérifier sa
plage de températures par rapport à la
standard et si elle est du type à résis-
tance.
9Il est à noter que même si la décolora-
tion paraît corrects, elle peut varier
légèrement selon le fabricant de bou-
gies et l’huile utilisée.

Cambiamento della gamma termica

candele, se si rileva che sono inadegua-

consigliabile cambiare la gamma ter-
mica della candela e selezionare nuo-
vamente il getto principale adeguato.
NOTA:
9Quando si controlla lo scolorimento
delle candele, assicurarsi di arrestare
il motore immediatamente dopo una
corsa ed effettuare il controllo.
9Evitare le gare.
9Quando si cambia la gamma termica
delle candele, non tentare mai di cam-
biarla di più di ±1 grado.
9Quando si usa una candela diversa da
quella in dotazione, controllare che
gamma termica e resistenza siano
equivalenti a quelle della candela in
dotazione.
9Si noti che, anche se lo scolorimento
sembra corretto, esso può variare leg-
germente a seconda del costruttore
della candela e dell’olio utilizzato.

9It is generally said that the secondary gear ratio
should be reduced for a longer straight portion
of a speed course and should be increased for
a course with many corners. Actually, however,
as the speed depends on the ground condition
of the day of the race, be sure to run through
the circuit to set the machine suitable for the
entire course.
9In actuality, it is very difficult to achieve settings
suitable for the entire course and some settings
may be sacrificed. Thus, the settings should be
matched to the portion of the course that has
the greatest effect on the race result. In such a
case, run through the entire course while mak-
ing notes of lap times to find the best balance;
then, determine the secondary reduction ratio.
9If a course has a long straight portion where a
machine can run at maximum speed, the
machine is generally set such that it can devel-
op its maximum revolutions toward the end of
the straight line, with care taken to avoid the
engine over-revving.
NOTE:
Riding technique varies from rider to rider and
the performance of a machine also vary from
machine to machine. Therefore, do not imitate
other rider’s settings from the beginning but
choose your own setting according to the level of
your riding technique.

sekundäre Gangverhältnis verkleinert
werden soll, wenn eine Rennstrecke
längere Geraden hat und vergrößert,
wenn die Strecke zahlreiche Kurven
hat. Da aber in der Praxis das opti-
male Verhältnis von anderen Fakto-
ren beeinflusst wird, wie dem Boden-
zustand am Tag des Rennens, soll-
ten Sie auf jeden Fall am Renntag die
Strecke abfahren, um die richtige
Wahl zu treffen.
9In der Praxis ist es schwierig, eine
Einstellung zu finden, die für die
ganze Strecke optimal ist, und man
ist gezwungen, Kompromisse einzu-
gehen. Die Einstellung sollte deshalb
dem Teil der Strecke angepasst wer-
den, der für das Rennen am wichtig-
sten ist. Fahren Sie die Strecke ab
und notieren Sie die Rundenzeiten,
um die ausgewogenste Einstellung
zu bestimmen; legen Sie danach das
sekundäre Untersetzungsverhältnis
fest.
9Wenn eine Strecke eine lange Gera-
de hat, auf der die Maschine mit
Höchst-geschwindigkeit gefahren
werden kann, sollte die Maschine
grundsätzlich so getunt werden, dass
sie zum Ende der Gerade hin die
Maximaldrehzahl entwickeln kann,
ohne dass der Motor überdreht wird.
HINWEIS:
Jeder Fahrer hat eine eigene Fahr-
technik, und die Leistung einzelner
Maschinen kann ebenfalls variieren,
auch wenn sie baugleich sind. Über-
nehmen Sie darum nicht einfach die
Einstellungen anderer Fahrer, son-
dern finden Sie Ihre eigene optimale
Einstellung entsprechend Ihrer Fahr-
technik heraus.

mission secondaire doit être réduit
lors de la conduite prolongée sur ligne
droite et qu’il convient de l’augmenter

vitesse dépendra des conditions du
terrain et il faut veiller à effectuer des
tours du circuit le jour de la course
afin de régler la machine du mieux
possible.
9En pratique, il est très difficile
d’effectuer des réglages convenant
parfaitement à un terrain donné et il
faudra en sacrifier quelques-uns. Il
convient de régler la machine en fonc-
tion de la partie la plus importante du
circuit. Effectuer des essais et noter
les temps pour les différentes parties
du circuit, calculer la moyenne et
déterminer le taux de réduction secon-
daire.
9Quand il y a de grandes, lignes
droites, régler la machine de sorte à ce
qu’elle soit au maximum de ses per-
formances vers la fin des lignes
droites, tout en évitant que la vitesse
de rotation du moteur soit excessive.
N.B.:
Chaque motocycliste a sa propre tech-
nique de conduite et les performances
varient aussi d’une machine à l’autre.
Eviter donc de copier les réglages d’une
autre machine et effectuer ses propres
réglages en fonction de sa technique
personnelle.

correre il circuito per registrare il vei-
colo in maniera adatta a tutto il circui-
to.
9In realtà, è molto difficile ottenere
registrazioni adatte a tutto il circuito e
può darsi che alcune registrazioni
vengano sacrificate. Pertanto, le regi-
strazioni dovrebbero essere adeguate
alla parte del circuito che ha il massi-
mo effetto sul risultato della gara. In
tal caso, percorrere tutto il circuito
prendendo nota dei tempi sul giro per
trovare il migliore equilibrio; quindi
determinare il rapporto di riduzione
secondario
9Se un circuito ha una parte rettilinea
lunga in cui un veicolo può correre
alla massima velocità, il veicolo viene
generalmente registrato in maniera
tale da potere sviluppare i massimi
giri verso la fine del tratto rettilineo,
facendo attenzione a evitare che il
motore vada troppo su di giri.
NOTA:
La tecnica di guida di una motocicletta
varia da un guidatore all’altro e anche
le prestazioni di un veicolo variano da
un veicolo all’altro. Pertanto, non imi-
tare le registrazioni di altri guidatori
dall’inizio, ma scegliere la propria regi-
strazione in base al livello della propria
tecnica di guida.

Front fork setting
The front fork setting should be made depending
on the rider’s feeling of an actual run and the cir-
cuit conditions.
The front fork setting includes the following three
factors:
1. Setting of air spring characteristics
9Change the fork oil amount.
2. Setting of spring preload
9Change the spring.
3. Setting of damping force
9Change the compression damping.
9Change the rebound damping.
The spring acts on the load and the damp-
ing force acts on the cushion travel speed.

Change in amount and characteristics of fork
oil
Damping characteristic near the final stroke can
be changed by changing the fork oil amount.

Adjust the oil amount in 5 cm3(0.2 Imp oz,
0.2 US oz) increments or decrements. Too
small oil amount causes the front fork to
produce a noise at full rebound or the rider
to feel some pressure on his hands or
body. Alternatively, too large oil amount
will cause the air spring characteristics to
have a tendency to be stiffer with the con-
sequent deteriorated performance and
characteristics. Therefore, adjust the front
fork within the specified range.

Einstellung der Vorderradgabel
Die Einstellung der Vorderradgabel
soll entsperechend dem Gefühl des
Fahrers nach einer Testfahrt und den
Bedingungen der Strecke vorgenom-
men werden.
Die Einstellung der Vorderradgabel bein-
haltet die folgenden drei Faktoren:
1. Einstellung der Luftfedereigen-
schaften
9Änderung der Gabelölmenge
2. Einstellung der Federvorspan-
nung
9Umstellung der Feder
3. Einstellung der Dämpfungskraft
9Änderung der Einfederdämp-
fung
9Änderung der Ausfederdämp-
fung
Die Federn wirken auf die Last
ein, und die Dämpfungskraft
wirkt auf die Dämpfungsele-
ment-Bewegungsgeschwindig-
keit.
Änderungen bei der Menge und
den Eigenschaften des Gabelöls
Die Dämpfungseigenschaften in der
Nähe des Endhubes können geändert
werden, indem die Gabelölmenge
geändert wird.

Die Ölmenge in Schritten von 5 cm3
(0,2 Imp oz, 0,2 US oz) erhöhen oder
verringern. Eine zu kleine Ölmenge
führt bei vollem Rückstoß zu einem
durch die Teleskopgabel produzier-
ten Geräusch, oder dazu, dass der
Fahrer an seinen Händen oder an
seinem Körper einen Druck wahr-
nimmt. Im Gegensatz dazu
führt eine zu große Ölmenge dazu,
dass die Lufteigenschaft dazu neigt,
steifer zu werden, was zu einer
Beeinträchtigung der Leistung und
der Eigenschaften führt. Die Tele-
skopgabel aus diesem Grund inner-
halb des spezifizierten Bereichs ein-
stellen.

Les caractéristiques d’amortissement en
fin de course peuvent être modifiées en
changeant la quantité d’huile de fourche.

Ajuster la quantité d’huile par incré-
ments ou décréments de 5 cm3(0,2
Imp oz, 0,2 US oz). Avec une quantité
d’huile insuffisante, la fourche émet
un bruit au rebond maximum, ou
alors le pilote ressent une pression
sur ses mains ou son corps. Inverse-
ment, une trop grande quantité
d’huile produit une tendance au dur-
cissement de la fourche avec, comme
conséquence, une détérioration des
performances et des caractéristiques.
Voilà pourquoi il convient d’ajuster
la fourche dans la plage spécifiée.

Le caratteristiche di smorzamento in
prossimità della corsa finale possono
essere modificate modificando la quan-
tità d’olio per forcella.

Regolare la quantità d’olio in incre-
menti o decrementi di 5 cm3(0,2 Imp
oz, 0,2 US oz). Una quantità d’olio
insufficiente fa sì che la forcella ante-
riore produca un rumore in piena
estensione o che il guidatore avverta
una certa pressione sulle mani o sul
corpo. Con una quantità d'olio ecces-
siva, invece, le caratteristiche aerodi-
namiche tenderanno ad essere più
rigide, peggiorando prestazioni e
caratteristiche. Quindi la forcella
anteriore deve essere regolata entro la
gamma specificata.

Setting of spring after replacement
As the front fork setting can be easily affected by
rear suspension, take care so that the machine
front and rear are balanced (in position, etc.)
when setting the front fork.
1. Use of soft spring
Generally a soft spring gives a soft riding
feeling. Rebound damping tends to become
stronger and the front fork may sink deeply
over a series of gaps.
To set a soft spring:
9Change the rebound damping.
Turn out one or two clicks.
9Change the compression damping.
Turn in one or two clicks.
2. Use of stiff spring
Generally a stiff spring gives a stiff riding
feeling. Rebound damping tends to become
weaker, resulting in lack of a sense of con-
tact with the road surface or in a vibrating
handlebar.
To set a stiff spring:
9Change the rebound damping.
Turn in one or two clicks.
9Change the compression damping.
Turn out one or two clicks.
