the doors will automatically relock.

If the interior light switch is in the door activated
position, the interior light s come on when you press
the unlock button.
No doors opened: The li ghts fade out after 30
seconds.
Doors relocked with the remote: The lights go off

The remote transmitter us es low-power signals, so
the operating range may vary depending on the
surroundings.
The remote will not lock th e vehicle when a door is

If the keyless remote battery or the vehicle battery is dead, use the key instead of the
keyless remote. Fully insert the key and turn it.
■Locking the front doors
Push the lock tab forward

master door lock switch in the lock direction
b, and close the door.
■Locking the rear doors
Push the lock tab forward and close the door.
■Lockout prevention system
The doors cannot be locked wh en the keyless access remote is inside the vehicle, and
any door is open.
■Locking/Unlocking the Doors Using a Key1 Locking/Unlocking the Doors Using a Key
When you lock the driver’s door with a key, all the
other doors lock at the sa me time. When unlocking,
the driver’s door unlocks first. Turn the key a second
time within a few seconds to unlock the remaining
doors.
If you unlock the doors with the key, the alarm goes
off when you open the hood or select other than

before the power mode is set to ON.

Make sure you have the key in your hand before
locking the door to prevent it from being locked in
the vehicle.

You can remotely check if your vehicle’s doors
are all locked or any are unlocked using the
keyless access remote from extended
distances.
Press the lock button, the Am ber (LEFT) LED blinks once. Then after three seconds
one of the following feedback will come:
• Green (center) comes on: Acknowle dges that the doors are locked.
• Red (right) comes on: Acknowledges that doors are not locked, or any door is not
completely closed.
• Red (right) blinks three times: The remote does not receive the door lock status
from the vehicle.

Operate the remote in an open space. If there are
buildings or other obstacl es between your vehicle
and the remote, the remote may not work even
within the operable range. However, the range of
unlock, all doors, and panic functions are the same as

else with the remote is within range.

Security System
Immobilizer System
The immobilizer system prevents a key that has not been pre-registered from
starting the power system. Each key cont ains electronic transmitters that use
electronic signals to verify the key.
Pay attention to the follo wing when pressing the POWER button:
• Do not allow objects that emit strong radio waves near the POWER button.
• Make sure the key is not covered by or touching a metal object.
• Do not bring a key from another vehicle’s immobilizer system with the keyless
access remote.
Security System Alarm
The security system alarm activates when the trunk, hood or doors are forcibly
opened. The alarm does not go off if the trunk or doors are opened with the key,
remote transmitter or keyless access system.
However, the alarm goes off when a door is opened with the key, then select other
than
(P or the hood is opened before the power mode is set to ON.
■When the security system alarm activates
The horn sounds intermittently and all of the exterior lights flash.
■To deactivate the security system alarm
Unlock the vehicle using the remote transmitter or keyless access system. The
system, along with the horn and flashing lights, is deactivated.
1 Immobilizer System
NOTICE
Leaving the keyless access re mote in the vehicle can
result in theft or accident al movement of the vehicle.
Always take the key with you whenever you leave the
vehicle unattended.
Do not alter the system or add other devices to it.
Doing so may damage the system and make your
vehicle inoperable.
1 Security System Alarm
The security alarm continues for a maximum of two
minutes until the security system deactivates.

■Setting the security system alarm
The security system alarm automatically sets when the following conditions have
been met:
• The power mode is set to VEHICLE OFF (LOCK).
• The hood and trunk are closed.
• All doors are locked from ou tside with the key, remote transmitter or keyless
access system.
■When the security system alarm sets
The security system indicator in the in strument panel blinks. When the blinking
interval changes after about 15 sec onds, the security system is set.
■To cancel the security system alarm
The security system is canceled when th e vehicle is unlocked using the remote
transmitter, or you grab any door handle while carrying the keyless access remote,
or the power mode is set to ON. The securi ty system indicator goes off at the same
time.
1 Security System Alarm
Do not set the security system alarm when someone
is in the vehicle or a window is open. The system can
accidentally activate when:
•Unlocking the door with the lock tab.•Opening the trunk with the trunk release button on
the driver’s door or the emergency trunk opener.
•Selecting other than ( P.•Opening the hood with the hood release.
If the 12-volt battery goes dead after you have set the
security system alarm, the security alarm may go off
once the 12-volt battery is recharged or replaced.
If this occurs, deactivate the security system alarm by
unlocking a door using the remote transmitter or
keyless access system.
Do not attempt to alter th is system or add another
device to it.

To open: Press the unlock button twice
within 10 seconds and hold it down the
second time. If the windows stop midway,
repeat the procedure.
To open: Unlock the driver’s door with the
key. Within 10 seconds of returning the key to
the central position, turn the key in the unlock
direction and hold it there.
To close: Lock the driver’s door with the key.
Within 10 seconds of re turning the key to the
central position, turn the key in the lock
direction and hold it there.
Release the key to stop the windows/
moonroof at the desired position. If you want
further adjustment, repeat the same
operation.

The power system may also start if the keyless access
remote is close to the door or window, even if it is
outside the vehicle.
