When the engine starts or the ignition is switched on, the functionality of some lights isbriefly checked.
Redlights Seatbeltreminder The driver's side seat belt is not fasj
tened. For some country versions: front
passenger seat belt is not fastened or
objects are detected on the front passenger seat.
If the indicator lamp flashes or is illuminated: seat belt on the driver's or front passenger sideis not fastened. The seat belt reminder can
also be triggered if there are objects in the
front passenger seat.
Check whether the seat belt has been fasj
tened correctly.

Releasing the parking brake, see
page 90.
Front-endcollisionwarning Indicator lamp is illuminated: forewarnj
ing, for example if a danger of collision is anticipated or there is a very short
distance to a vehicle ahead.
Increase the distance.
Indicator lamp flashes: acute warning in the
event of an immediate collision if the vehicle
approaches another vehicle with relatively high
differential speed.
Intervene by braking and, if necessary, perj forming an evasive manoeuvre.
Personwarning Symbol in the instrument cluster. If there is a risk of collision with a dej
tected person, the symbol illuminates
and a signal sounds.
