Eco-driving
Optimise the use of your gearbox
With a manual gearbox, move off gently, change up without waitingand drive by changing up quite soon. If your vehicle has the system, the gear shift indicator invites you to change up; it is displayed in the instrument panel, follow its instructions.
With an automatic or electronic gearbox, stay in Drive "D"
or Auto "A",according to the type of gearbox, without pressing the accelerator pedal heavily or suddenly.

Drive smoothly
Maintain a safe distance between vehicles, use engine braking rather than the brake pedal, and press the accelerator progressively. Thesepractices contribute towards a reduction in fuel consumption and CO2emissions and also helps reduce the background traffic noise.

If your vehicle has cruise control, make use of the system at speedsabove 25 mph (40 km/h) when the traffic is flowing well.

Control the use of your electrical
equipment

Before moving off, if the passenger compar tment is too warm, ventilate it by opening the windows and air vents before using the air conditioning.
Above 30 mph (50 km/h), close the windows and leave the air ventsopen.
Remember to make use of equipment that can help keep the temperature in the passenger compar tment down (sunroof and windowblinds...).
Switch off the air conditioning, unless it has automatic digital regulation,as soon as the desired temperature is attained. Switch off the demisting and defrosting controls, if not automatic. Switch off the heated seat as soon as possible.

Switch off the headlamps and front foglamps when the level of lightdoes not require their use.

Avoid running the engine before moving off, particularly in winter; your vehicle will warm up much faster while driving.

As a passenger, if you avoid connecting your multimedia devices
(film, music, video game...), you will contribute towards limiting theconsumption of electrical energy, and so of fuel.
Disconnect your por table devices before leaving the vehicle.

Eco-driving is a range of everyday practices that allow the motorist to optimise their fuel consumption and CO2emissions.

As a safety precaution and to facilitate starting of the engine:

- always select neutral,

- press the clutch pedal.

Operation

The system intervenes only when driving economically.
Depending on the driving situation and your
vehicle's equipment, the system may advise you to skip one or more gears. You can follow this instruction without engaging the
intermediate gears.
The gear engagement recommendations mustnot be considered compulsory. In fact, the configuration of the road, the amount of traffic
and safety remain determining factors whenchoosing the best gear. Therefore, the driver
remains responsible for deciding whether or not
to follow the advice given by the system.
This function cannot be deactivated. Example:
- You are in third
gear.
The information appears in the instrument
panel in the form of an arrow accompanied by
the suggested gear.

*
Accordin
g to engine. - You press the accelerator pedal
moderatel
y.
- The s
ystem may suggest that you engage a
higher gear, if appropriate.

In the case of driving which makespar ticular demands on the performance of the engine (firm pressure on theaccelerator pedal, for example, whenover taking...), the system will not recommend a gear change.
The system never suggests:

- engaging first gear,

- engaging reverse gear,

- engaging a lower gear. S
ystem which reduces fuel consumption by
advising the driver to change up on vehicles
fitted with a manual gearbox.

offers a choice between the comfor t of fully automatic operation or the pleasure of manualgear changing. There are two driving modes: -automatedmode for automatic control
of the gears by the gearbox, without anyaction on the par t of the driver
- manualmode for sequential gear changingby the driver using the gear lever or the
steering mounted paddles.
In automated mode, you can temporarily take
over control of gear changing.

- the style of driving,

- the profile of the road,

- the vehicle load.

) Select position M.
To engage reverse gear R, the vehicle must be
immobilised with your foot on the brake pedal.
)Select position R.

At very low speed, if reverse gear is requested,
this will only be acted on when the vehicle is
immobilised.
At high speed, if reverse gear is requested,
the N indicator flashes and the gearbox goes into neutral. To engage a gear again, put the gear lever in position A
or M.
Te m p o r a ry control of gear changing
You can temporarily take over control of gear changing using the "+"
and "-"
steering mounted paddles: if the engine speed allows,
the request to change gear is acted on.
This function allows you to anticipate cer tain situations such as over taking a vehicle or theapproach to a corner.
After a few moments without any action on
the control paddles, the gearbox resumes automatic control of the gears. The
gears engaged appear in
succession in the instrument panel screen.
The
gear change requests are only acted on if
the engine speed permits.
It is not necessary to release the accelerator
during gear changes.
When brakin
g or slowing down, the gearbox changes down automatically to allow the
vehicle to accelerate in the correct gear.
On sharp acceleration, the gearbox will not change up unless the driver acts on the gear lever or the steering mounted paddles.
Never select neutral Nwhile the vehicle is moving.

You can change mode at any time, bemoving the gear lever from Mto A
or the other way round.

Engagement of reverse gear isaccompanied by an audible signal.
