ENERGY ECONOMY MODE
System which manages the duration
of use of certain functions to conserve
a sufï¬ cient level of charge in the
battery.
After the engine has stopped, you can
still use functions such as the audio
and telematics system, windscreen
wipers, dipped beam headlamps,
courtesy lamps, etc. for a maximum
combined duration of thirty minutes.
Switching to economy mode
Once this period has elapsed, a
message appears on the multi-func-
tion screen indicating that the vehi-
cle has switched to economy mode
and the active functions are put on
standby.
If a telephone call is being made at
this time:
- it will be maintained for 10 minu-tes with your Audio system or
MyWay hands-free system
- it will be maintained for 10 minu- tes with the NaviDrive, then it will
transfer to your telephone de-
pending on its model. Exiting economy mode
These functions are reactivated au-
tomatically next time the vehicle is
started.
To resume the use of these functions
immediately, start the engine and let
it run for at least 5 minutes.
A fl at battery prevents the
engine from starting (refer
to the corresponding para-
graph).
Following reconnection of the
battery
Following reconnection of the bat-
tery, switch on the ignition and wait
1 minute before starting to permit
initialisation of the electronic sys-
tems. However, if slight difï¬ culties
are encountered following this oper-
ation, contact a CITROËN dealer.
Referring to the corresponding sec-
tion, you must yourself reinitialise:
- the remote control key,
- the one-touch electric windows,
- the panoramic sunroof blind,
- the settings of the multifunction
screen,
- the radio pre-set stations,
- the GPS satellite navigation system. This period may be reduced con-
siderably if the battery is not fully
charged.

TOWING THE VEHICLE
Procedure for having your vehicle
towed or for towing another vehicle
using a removable towing eye.
Access to the tools
According to equipment, the towing
eye is installed in the storage fl ap
under the second row passenger
footwell or under the boot fl oor.
To gain access to it:

ï† open one of the rear doors or the
boot (according to equipment),

ï† open the fl ap or raise the fl oor
(according to equipment),

ï† remove the towing eye from the
holder. Towing your vehicle

ï† On the front bumper, unclip the
cover by pressing at the top left
and pulling at the right.

ï† Screw the towing eye in fully.

ï† Install the towing bar.

ï† Switch on the hazard warning
lamps on the towed vehicle.

ï† Place the gear lever in neutral
(position N on the electronic
gearbox or automatic gearbox). Towing another vehicle

ï† On the rear bumper, unclip the
cover by pressing at the bottom
at pulling at the top.

ï† Screw the towing eye in fully.

ï† Install the towing bar.

ï† Switch on the hazard warning
lamps on the towed vehicle.
Failure to observe this condition
could result in damage to certain
braking components and the ab-
sence of braking assistance the
next time the engine is started. When towing with all four wheels
on the ground, always use a towing
bar.
When towing with only two wheels
on the ground, always use profes-
sional lifting equipment.
When towing with the engine off,
there is no longer any braking or
steering assistance.

A CARAVAN, ETC.
Towbar suitable for the attachment
of a trailer or caravan with additional
lighting and signalling.
Your vehicle is primarily designed
for transporting people and luggage,
but it may also be used for towing a
trailer. We recommend the use of genuine
CITROËN towbars and their har-
nesses that have been tested and
approved from the design stage
of your vehicle, and that the ï¬ t-
ting of the towbar is entrusted to a
CITROËN dealer.
If the trailer is not ï¬ tted by a
CITROËN dealer, it is imperative
that it is ï¬ tted using the vehicle's
electrical pre-equipment, in accor-
dance with the manufacturer's in-
structions. Driving advice
Distribution of loads

ï† Distribute the load in the trailer
so that the heaviest items are as
close as possible to the axle and
the nose weight approaches the
maximum permitted without ex-
ceeding it.
Air density decreases with altitude,
thus reducing engine performance.
Above 1 000 metres, the maximum
towing load must be reduced by 10 %
and so on for every 1 000 metres of
altitude.
Refer to the "Technical Data" section
for details of the weights and towing
loads which apply to your vehicle.
Side wind

ï† Take into account the increased
sensitivity to side wind.
ï† To lower the engine speed, re-
duce your speed.
The maximum towing load on a long
slope depends on the gradient and
the ambient temperature.
In all cases, pay attention to the
coolant temperature.

ï† If the warning lamp and
the STOP warning lamp
come on, stop the ve-
hicle and switch off the
engine as soon as pos-
sible.
Braking
Towing a trailer increases the braking
distance.
Tyres

ï† Check the tyre pressures of the
towing vehicle and of the trailer,
observing the recommended
pressures.
Lighting

ï† Check the electrical lighting and
signalling on the trailer.
The rear parking sensors will be
deactivated automatically if a gen-
uine CITROËN towbar is used.
Driving with a trailer subjects the
towing vehicle to more signiï¬ cant
stress and the driver must take par-
ticular care.
Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases
the temperature of the coolant.
As the fan is electrically controlled,
its cooling capacity is not dependent
on the engine speed.

ROOF BARS
For your safety and to avoid damage
to the roof and tailgate, the design of
your vehicle requires the use of roof
bars and roof boxes that are tested
and approved by CITROËN.
Regardless of the type of load car-
rier to be mounted on the roof (roof
box, bicycle carrier, ski carrier...),
you must ï¬ t transverse roof bars.
Recommendations

ï† Distribute the load evenly, avoid-
ing overloading on one side.

ï† Arrange the heaviest part of the
load as close as possible to the
roof.

ï† Anchor the load securely and ï¬ t
a warning fl ag part of it is over-
hanging.

ï† Drive gently, as the vehicle will
be more liable to the effects of
side winds (vehicle stability may
be altered).

ï† Remove the roof bars as soon
as they are no longer needed. Bicycle carrier
Do not attach a strap-ï¬ tting bicycle
carrier to the following vehicle ver-
sions:
- C4 Picasso 5-seater (all versions);
- C4 Picasso 7-seater version with
opening rear screen. Maximum load, distributed
over the roof bars (for a
loading height not exceed-
ing 40 cm, except bicycle carrier):
80 kg.
If the height exceeds 40 cm, adapt
your speed to the proï¬ le of the road
to avoid damaging the roof bars
and the ï¬ xings on the roof.
Please refer to national legislation
in order to comply with the regula-
tions concerning the transport of
objects which are longer than the
vehicle.
* According to country.
VERY COLD CLIMATE SCREEN *
Removable protective screen which
prevents the accumulation of snow
at the radiator cooling fan.
Fitting

ï† Offer up the very cold climate
screen to the front of the lower
section of the front bumper.

ï† Press around its edge to engage
its ï¬ xing clips one by one.
Removal

ï† Use a screwdriver as a lever to
release each ï¬ xing clip in turn.
Do not forget to remove the very
cold climate screen:
- when the ambient temperature exceeds 10 °C,
- when towing,
-
at speeds above 75 mph (120 km/h).
