Towing a trailer

Towbar suitable for the attachment of a
trailer or installation of a bicycle carrier, with
additional li
ghting and signalling.

When not towing a trailer, remove the quickly-detachable tow ball before driving, so as to avoid masking the
central rear lamp.
Maximum trailer weight

The towing weight is limited: refer to the
"Technical data" section.

Vehicle recovery

Before doing any work, with the ignition on, press the brake pedal and put the gear selector toposition N, then switch off the hybrid system.
If necessary because access to the vehicle is difficult, it can be moved a few dozen metres at a speed not exceeding 6 mph (10 km/h).

Th
e front or rear wheels must not be on the
ground, use a flat-bed lorry or trailer to recover
the vehicle.Use the towing eyes only to pull a vehicle out or
to pull it onto a flat-bed.

Your vehicle is primaril
y designed for
transporting people and luggage, but it mayalso be used for towing a trailer.

We recommend the use of genuine
CITROËN towbars and their harnesses that have been tested and approved from the design stage of your vehicle, and that the fitting of the towbar is
entrusted to a CITROËN dealer or aqualified workshop.
If the towbar is not fitted by a CITROËN dealer, it is imperative that it isfitted in accordance with the vehiclemanufacturer's instructions.

Driving advice

Distribution of loads
)
Distribute the load in the trailer so that the
heaviest items are as close as possible to
t
he axle and the nose weight approaches the
maximum permitted without exceeding it.
Air density decreases with altitude, thus
reducing engine performance. Above
1 000 metres, the maximum towed load must
be reduced by 10 % for every 1 000 metres of altitude.

Side wind
)
Take into account the increased sensitivity
to side wind.

Cooling

To w i ng a trailer on a slope increases the
temperature of the coolant.
As the
fan is electrically controlled, its cooling capacity is not dependent on the engine speed.)
To lower the engine speed, reduce your speed.
)
If the warning lamp and the STOPwarning lamp come on,stop the vehicle and switch off
the engine as soon as possible.

Braking

To w i ng a trailer increases the braking distance.
To avoid overheating of the brakes on a longmountain type of descent, the use of engine braking is recommended.

Tyres
)Check the tyre pressures of the towingvehicle and of the trailer, obser ving the recommended pressures.

Lighting
)Check the electrical lighting and signalling on the trailer.

The rear parking sensors will be deactivated automatically if a genuine CITROËN towbar is used.

Driving with a trailer places greater demands on the towing vehicle and thedriver must take par ticular care.

The maximum towed load on a long incline depends on the gradient and the ambient
tem
perature.
In all cases, keep a check on the coolant
temperature.

R
efer to the "Technical data" section for detailsof the weights and towed loads which apply toyour vehicle.

Fitting roof bars

Maximum authorised load evenly
distributed on the roof bars, for a loading height not exceeding 40 cm (with theexception of bicycle carriers): 70
kg.
If the height exceeds 40 cm, adapt the
speed of the vehicle to the profile of the road to avoid damaging the roof barsand the fixings on the roof.
Be sure to refer to national legislation in order to comply with the regulations for transporting objects which are longer than the vehicle.
When
fitting transverse roof bars, take care to position them correctly: Use accessories recommended by CITROËN obser ving the manufacturer'srecommendations and fitting instructions so as to avoid the risk of damaging the body (deformation, scratches, ...).
)Remove the cap using an allen TM
key. )Put the bars into position then fit and
tighten the securing screws.
