All vehicles
Shows the temperature of the enginecoolant. At normal operatingtemperature, the needle will remainin the centre section.
CAUTION
Do not restart the engine until thecause of overheating has beenresolved.
If the needle enters the red section,the engine is overheating. Stop theengine, switch the ignition off anddetermine the cause once theengine has cooled down. SeeEngine coolant check (page 201).
Fuel gauge
The arrow adjacent to the fuel pumpsymbol indicates on which side of thevehicle the fuel filler cap is located.
WARNING LAMPS AND
INDICATORS
The following warning lamps andindicators illuminate when the ignitionis switched on:
•Airbag
•Oil pressure
•Engine immobiliser
•ABS
•Stability control (ESP)
•Engine
•Doors open
•Brake system
•Engine systems fault
•Frost
•Power steering
•Ignition
If a warning lamp or indicator doesnot illuminate when the ignition isswitched on, it indicates amalfunction. Have the systemchecked by an expert.
ABS warning lamp
If the ABS warning lampilluminates when driving, itindicates a malfunction.Have this checked by an expert.Normal braking (without ABS) will bemaintained.
Airbag warning lamp
If the warning lamp does notilluminate, if it stays on orilluminates intermittently orcontinuously while driving, it meansthere is a malfunction. Have thesystem checked by an expert.
Brake system warning lamp
WARNING
If it illuminates after releasing theparking brake or when driving,have the braking system checked byan expert immediately.

Brake system and ABSwarning lamps
WARNING
Reduce vehicle speed gradually.Use the brakes with great care.Do not step on the brake pedalabruptly.
If both warning lamps illuminate atthe same time when driving, stopthe vehicle as soon as it is safe todo so. Have the braking systemchecked by an expert beforecontinuing your journey.
Cruise control indicator
The indicator in theinstrument cluster willilluminate when the systemis in use.
Direction indicator
A sudden increase in therate of flashing warns of afailed indicator bulb.
Doors open warning lamp
Illuminates when the ignitionis switched on and remainson if any door, the bonnet orthe luggage compartment is notclosed properly.
Engine systems faultwarning lamp
Illuminates to indicate amalfunction of the engineand powertrain relatedsystems. Stop the vehicle as soon assafely possible and switch off theengine immediately. Have the enginechecked by an expert immediately.
Engine warning lamp
If it illuminates with theengine running, it indicatesa malfunction. If it flasheswhen driving, reduce the vehiclespeed immediately. If it continues toflash, avoid heavy acceleration andhigh engine speed. Have your vehiclechecked by an expert immediately.
Front fog lamp indicator
The indicator will illuminatewhen the front fog lampsare in use.

WARNING
Even if the temperature rises toabove +4ºC there is noguarantee that the road is free ofhazards caused by inclementweather.
At temperatures between+4°C and +1°C, the orangefrost warning lampilluminates. At temperatures below+1°C, the warning lamp glows red.
Glow plug indicator
If the glow plug indicatorlamp illuminates, wait untilthe it extinguishes beforestarting.
Headlamp indicator
The headlamp indicatorilluminates when theheadlamps are on dippedbeam or when the side and tail lampsare on.
Ignition warning lamp
Note:If the battery voltage is toohigh or too low, the ignition warninglamp will illuminate and the heatedwindscreen and heated rear window,the auxiliary heater or the airconditioning may switch on or offautomatically.
If it illuminates whilst driving,switch off all unnecessaryelectrical equipment anddrive immediately to the nearestexpert.
Low fuel level warning lamp
The warning lamp illuminateswhen there is enough fuel inthe tank for the vehicle totravel 80 km (50 miles). This iscalculated based on average fuelconsumption.
Main beam indicator
Illuminates when theheadlamps are on mainbeam or when theheadlamp flasher is used.
Maximum engine RPMwarning lamp
Illuminates when themaximum engine RPM(revolutions per minute) isreached.
Message indicator
It will illuminate when a newmessage is stored in theinformation display. SeeInformation messages (page103).

WARNING
Do not resume the journey if theoil level is correct. Have theengine checked by an expert.
If it stays on after starting orilluminates during a journey,stop immediately, switch offthe engine and check the engine oillevel. Top up straight away if the levelis low.
Power steering warninglamp
Illuminates to indicate amalfunction of the powersteering system. Fullsteering will be maintained but youwill need to exert greater force onthe steering wheel. Have the systemchecked by an expert as soon aspossible.
Rear fog lamp indicator
The indicator in theinstrument cluster willilluminate when the rear foglamps are switched on.
Seat belt reminder
WARNINGS
The seat belt reminder remainsin stand-by mode after thedriver has fastened his/her seat belt.It will be reactivated if the driverunbuckles his/her seat belt.
WARNINGS
Never sit on top of a buckledseat belt to avoid the seat beltreminder. The restraint system canonly work properly if passengershave buckled up their seat belts.
When the vehicle’s speedexceeds 23 km/h (14 mph),the seat belt reminder willilluminate if the driver’s seat belt isunbuckled. The seat belt reminderwill not go out until the driver hasfastened his/her seat belt.
To deactivate the seat belt reminderfor one ignition cycle, the driver mustbuckle and unbuckle the seat beltwithin 3 seconds with the ignitionswitched on.
Stability control (ESP)indicator
Note:If the indicator does notilluminate when the ignition isswitched on or if it stays illuminatedwhilst driving, it indicates amalfunction.
Illuminates when stabilitycontrol is switched off andflashes when stability control(ESP) is activated.

Automatic transmission
If position P is not selected, a warningchime will sound when the driver’sdoor is opened.
Electronic parking brake(EPB)
A warning chime will sound if:
•the driver’s door is opened beforethe EPB is applied.
•the EPB is still applied when thevehicle moves off.
•there is a cut in the power supply.
Frost
WARNING
Even if the temperature rises toabove +4ºC there is noguarantee that the road is free ofhazards caused by inclementweather.
A warning chime will sound in thefollowing conditions:
•+4ºC or lower: frost warning
•0ºC or lower: danger of icy roads
Key outside car
Vehicles with the key freesystem
If the engine is running and a passivekey is no longer detected within thevehicle interior, a chime will sound assoon as the door is closed.
Key-in-ignition
Except vehicles with the keyfree system
A warning tone will sound when thedriver’s door is opened if:
•the key is in the ignition.
Vehicles with the key freesystem
A warning tone will sound when thedriver’s door is opened if:
•the ignition switch is not pulledout.
•the spare key is in the ignition.
Lights on
A warning chime will sound if thedriver’s door is opened with theexterior lights switched on and theignition switched off.
Low fuel
A warning chime will sound at thefollowing ranges: 80 km (50 miles),40 km (25 miles), 20 km (12 miles), 0km (0 miles).

WARNINGS
The seat belt reminder remainsin stand-by mode after thedriver has fastened his/her seat belt.It will be reactivated if the driverunbuckles his/her seat belt.

When the vehicle’s speed exceeds23 km/h (14 mph), a chime will soundif the driver’s seat belt is unbuckled.The chime will stop after eightminutes.

WARNING
Do not operate the informationdisplay controls when thevehicle is moving.
Various systems can beprogrammed using the informationdisplay and the multi-function leveron the steering column.
Controls
Turn the rotary control to scrollthrough the available displays withina menu or to choose a setting. Toscroll automatically, hold the rotarycontrol in the upward or downwardposition.
Press the SET/RESET button tochoose a sub-menu and adjust thesettings. If the chimes are activated,a short tone will sound each time thebutton is pressed.
Type 2 and 3
Press the up and down arrowbuttons on the steering wheel toscroll through the trip computerdisplays. See Informationmessages (page 103).
