WARNING - Driver respon-
sibility for front seat pas-
senger
Riding in a vehicle with a front seat-
back reclined could lead to serious
or fatal injury in an accident. If a
front seat is reclined during an
accident, the occupant’s hips may
slide under the lap portion of the
seat belt applying great force to the
unprotected abdomen. Serious orfatal internal injuries could result.
The driver must advise the front
passenger to keep the seatback in
an upright position whenever the
vehicle is in motion.

Seat belt warning
If the driver's seat belt is not fastened
when the key is turned ON or if it is
unfastened after the key is turned ON,
the seat belt warning light will blink for
approximately 6 seconds.
If the driver's seat belt is not fastened
when the key is turned ON or if it is
unfastened after the key is ON, the seat
belt warning chime will sound for approx-
imately 6 seconds.Lap/shoulder belt
To fasten your seat belt:
To fasten your seat belt, pull it out of the
retractor and insert the metal tab (1) into
the buckle (2). There will be an audible
"click" when the tab locks into the buckle. The seat belt automatically adjusts to the proper length only after the lap belt por-
tion is adjusted manually so that it fits
snugly around your hips. If you lean for-
ward in a slow, easy motion, the belt will
extend and let you move around. If there
is a sudden stop or impact, however, the
belt will lock into position. It will also lock
if you try to lean forward too quickly.
✽✽
NOTICE
If you are not able to pull out the seat
belt from the retractor, firmly pull the
belt out and release it. Then you will be
able to pull the belt out smoothly.

WARNING
Pre-tensioners are designed to operate only one time. After acti-
vation, pre-tensioner seat belts
must be replaced. All seat belts,
of any type, should always be
replaced after they have been
worn during a collision.
The pre-tensioner seat belt assembly mechanisms become
hot during activation. Do not
touch the pre-tensioner seat belt
assemblies for several minutes
after they have been activated.
Do not attempt to inspect or replace the pre-tensioner seat
belts yourself. This must be done
by an authorised Hyundai dealer.
Do not strike the pre-tensioner seat belt assemblies.
Do not attempt to service or repair the pre-tensioner seat belt
system in any manner.
(Continued)(Continued)
Improper handling of the pre-ten-sioner seat belt assemblies, and failure to heed the warnings not
to strike, modify, inspect, replace,
service or repair the pre-tension-
er seat belt assemblies may lead
to improper operation or inadver-
tent activation and serious injury.
Always wear the seat belts when driving or riding in a motor vehi-
cle.
If the vehicle or pre-tensioner seat belt must be discarded, con-tact an authorised Hyundai deal-
er.CAUTION
Because the sensor that activates
the SRS air bag is connected withthe pre-tensioner seat belt, the SRS air bag warning light on the
instrument panel will illuminatefor approximately 6 seconds afterthe ignition key has been turned to the "ON" position, and then it
should turn off.
If the pre-tensioner seat belt is not working properly, this warninglight will illuminate even if there is
no malfunction of the SRS air bag.If the SRS air bag warning lightdoes not illuminate when the igni- tion key is turned to "ON", or if it
remains illuminated after illumi-nating for approximately 6 sec- onds, or if it illuminates while thevehicle is being driven, please
have an authorised Hyundai deal-er inspect the pre-tensioner seat belt or SRS air bag system assoon as possible.

WARNING
Riding with a reclined seatback
increases your chance of serious
or fatal injuries in the event of a col-
lision or sudden stop. The protec-
tion of your restraint system (seat
belts and air bags) is greatly
reduced by reclining your seat.
Seat belts must be snug against
your hips and chest to work proper-
ly. The more the seatback is
reclined, the greater the chance
that an wearer’s hips will slideunder the lap belt causing serious
internal injuries or the wearer’s
neck could strike the shoulder belt.
Drivers and passengers should
always sit well back in their seats,
properly belted, and with the seat-
backs upright.
If the shoulder belt portion slightly touch-
es the child’s neck or face, try placing the
child closer to the centre of the vehicle. If
the shoulder belt still touches their face
or neck they need to be returned to a
child restraint system. In addition, after-
market devices are available from inde-
pendent manufacturers which help pull
the shoulder belt down and away from
the child’s face or neck.Pregnant women
The use of a seat belt is recommended
for pregnant women to lessen the chance
of injury in an accident. When a seat belt
is used, the lap belt portion should be
placed as low and snugly as possible on
the hips, not across the abdomen. For
specific recommendations, consult a
physician.
Injured person
A seat belt should be used when an
injured person is being transported.
When this is necessary, you should con-
sult a physician for recommendations.
One person per belt
Two people (including children) should
never attempt to use a single seat belt.
This could increase the severity of
injuries in case of an accident.
Do not lie down
To reduce the chance of injuries in the
event of an accident and to achieve max-
imum effectiveness of the restraint sys-tem, all passengers should be sitting upand the front seats should be in an
upright position when the car is moving.
A seat belt cannot provide proper protec-
tion if the person is lying down in the rearseat or if the front seat is in a reclinedposition.
WARNING - Shoulder belts
on small children
Never allow a shoulder belt to be in contact with a child’s neck or
face while the vehicle is inmotion.
If seat belts are not properly worn and adjusted on children, there is
a risk of death or serious injury.

SRS components and functions
The SRS consists of the following com- ponents:
1. Front Impact Sensors
2. SRS Air Bag Warning Light*
3. Passenger's Air bag Module*
4. Driver's Air Bag Module
5. SRS Control Module (SRSCM)
6. Side Impact Sensors*
7. Retractor Pre-tensioner Assemblies*
8. Side Air Bag Modules*
9. Curtain Air Bag Modules** If equippedThe SRSCM continually monitors all ele-
ments while the ignition switch is ON to
determine if a frontal or near-frontal
impact is severe enough to require air
bag deployment or pre-tensioner seat
belt deployment.
The SRS air bag warning light on the
instrument panel will illuminate for about
6 seconds after the ignition switch is
turned to the ON position, after which the
air bag warning light should go out.
The air bag modules are located both in
the centre of the steering wheel and in
the front passenger's panel above the
glove box. When the SRSCM detects a
sufficiently severe impact to the front of
the vehicle, it will automatically deploy
the front air bags.

Driver's and passenger's front air
bag
Your vehicle is equipped with a
Supplemental Restraint (Air Bag) System
and lap/shoulder belts at both the driver
and passenger seating positions. Theindications of the system's presence are
the letters "SRS AIR BAG" embossed on
the air bag pad cover in the steeringwheel and the passenger's side front
panel pad above the glove box. The SRS consists of air bags installed
under the pad covers in the centre of the
steering wheel and the passenger's side
front panel above the glove box.
WARNING
If an air bag deploys, there may be a loud noise followed by a fine
dust released in the vehicle. These conditions are normal and
are not hazardous - the air bags
are packed in this fine powder.
The dust generated during air
bag deployment may cause skin
or eye irritation as well as aggra-
vate asthma for some persons.
Always wash all exposed skin
areas thoroughly with lukewarmwater and a mild soap after an
accident in which the air bags
were deployed.
(Continued)(Continued)
The SRS can function only whenthe ignition key is in the "ON"
position. If the SRS air bag warn-
ing light does not illuminate, or
continuously remains on after
illuminating for about 6 seconds
when the ignition key is turned to
the ON position, or after the
engine is started, comes on while
driving, the SRS is not working
properly. If this occurs, have your
vehicle immediately inspected by
an authorised Hyundai dealer.
Before you replace a fuse or dis- connect a battery terminal, turn
the ignition key to the LOCK
position and remove the ignition
key. Never remove or replace the
air bag related fuse(s) when the
ignition key is in the ON position.
Failure to heed this warning will
cause the SRS air bag warning
light to illuminate.

Rollover
(Continued)
No objects should be placed overor near the air bag modules on
the steering wheel, instrument
panel, and the front passenger's
panel above the glove box,
because any such object could
cause harm if the vehicle is in a
crash severe enough to cause
the air bags to deploy.
Never place covers, blankets or aftermarket seat warmers on the
passenger seat as these may
interfere with the side air bag
deployment.
Do not tamper with or disconnect SRS wiring or other components
of the SRS system. Doing so
could result in injury, due to acci-
dental deployment of the air bags
or by rendering the SRS inopera-
tive.
If the SRS air bag warning light remains illuminated while the
vehicle is being driven, have anauthorised Hyundai dealer
inspect the air bag system as
soon as possible.
(Continued)(Continued)
Air bags can only be used once –have an authorised Hyundai deal-
er replace the air bag immediate-
ly after deployment.
The SRS is designed to deploy the airbags only when the impact
is sufficiently severe and when
the impact is in the front or
frontal angle of the vehicle, and
will not deploy in side, rear or
rollover impacts. Additionally, the
airbags will only deploy once.
Thus, seat belts must be worn atall times.
Front air bags are not intended to deploy in side-impact, rear-
impact or rollover crashes. In
addition, front air bags will not
deploy in frontal crashes below
the deployment threshold.
