Push the VDC OFF switch again or restart the
engine to turn on the system. (See “VEHICLE
DYNAMIC CONTROL (VDC) SYSTEM” in the “5.
Starting and driving” section.)If the power supply is disconnected, the clock
will not indicate the correct time. Readjust the
time.
ADJUSTING THE TIME

Opening trunk lid
1. Push the trunk open request switchAfor
more than 1 second.
2. The trunk will unlatch. An outside chime will sound four times.
3. Raise the trunk lid to open the trunk.
Lockout protection :
To prevent the Intelligent Key from being acci-
dentally locked in the trunk, lockout protection
is equipped with the Intelligent Key system.
When the trunk lid is closed with the Intelligent
Key inside the trunk, the outside buzzer will
sound and the trunk will open.
BATTERY SAVER SYSTEM
When all the following conditions are met for 60
minutes, the battery saver system will cut off
the power supply to prevent battery discharge.
● The ignition switch is in the ACC position,
and
● All doors are closed, and
● The selector lever is in the P (Park) position
(Automatic Transmission models).
WARNING SIGNALS
To help prevent the vehicle from moving unex-
pectedly by erroneous operation of the Intelli-
gent Key listed on the following chart or to help
prevent the vehicle from being stolen, chime or
beep sounds inside and outside the vehicle and
a warning displays in the dot matrix liquid
crystal display.
When a chime or beep sounds or the warning
displays, be sure to check the vehicle and
Intelligent Key.
See “TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE” later in this
section and “DOT MATRIX LIQUID CRYSTAL DIS-
PLAY” in the “2. Instruments and controls”
section.

BEFORE OPERATING THE RETRACTABLE
HARD TOP
The retractable hard top on this vehicle is
electrically operated. You can fully open or close the retractable hard top only by pushing
the operating switch located on the center
console.
The retractable hard top operating switch must
be operated under all of the following conditions.
●
When the vehicle is stopped
● When the engine is running
● When the separator is fixed in the position
separating the roof storage area and the
trunk room
● When the trunk lid is closed
CAUTION
Always keep the engine running while operating
the retractable hard top. Even if the engine stops,
the retractable hard top will also operate when the
ignition switch is in the ON position, but be sure to
run the engine to prevent battery discharge.
Be sure to follow the operating instructions and
all of the warnings and cautions in this section.
Improper operation of the retractable hard top
could cause a system malfunction, damage or
deterioration of the retractable hard top mate-
rial and related parts.
WARNING
●Park the vehicle in a safe and level location
and apply the parking brake.
● Make sure the parking area is clear of ob-
stacles and there is enough clearance over
the retractable hard top (for example, in a
garage or a covered area). More than ap-
proximately 6.6 ft (2 m) from the ground and
more than approximately 3.3 ft (1 m) from the
rear is required to open or close the retract-
able hard top safely. Otherwise, the top may
damage any objects above it while moving.
The retractable hard top operating system
could also be damaged.

NOTE:
When the hooks of the separator are not latched
in the holders, the retractable hard top cannot
be operated. “CHECK SEPARATOR” is displayed
in the dot matrix liquid crystal display.
INDICATORS FOR THE RETRACTABLE
HARD TOP
The retractable hard top indicator in the dot
matrix liquid crystal display
1shows the
conditions of retractable hard top operation.
The information displays when the retractable
hard top is being operated or if it is stopped
before reaching the fully opened or closed
position. For details about the retractable hard
top indicator, see “INDICATORS FOR RETRACT-
ABLE HARD TOP” in the “2. Instruments and
controls” section.
Automatic window lowering
When the retractable hard top operating switch
is pressed, the power windows will automati-
cally be lowered completely. The windows do
not rise automatically after the retractable hard
top operation is completed. Use the power
window switches to raise them.

1. Make sure the trunk lid is securely closedbefore operating the retractable hard top.
2. Apply the parking brake and move the selector lever to the P (Park) position (for
the automatic transmission models) or
the shift lever to the N (Neutral) position
(for the manual transmission models).
3. Start the engine. 4. Push the OPEN side of the retractable
hard top operating switch and hold it until
the retractable hard top is fully opened.
●When the OPEN side of the retractable
hard top operating switch is pushed a
beep sounds.
● “ROOF IN OPERATION” is displayed on the
dot matrix liquid crystal display while the
retractable hard top is in motion.
● The windows will automatically be fully
opened.
5. Release the switch when the retractable hard top is fully opened.
●When the retractable hard top is fully
opened, a beep sounds.
● “ROOF OPEN” is displayed on the dot
matrix liquid crystal display when the
retractable hard top is fully opened.
CAUTION
Be sure to fully open or fully close the retract-
able hard top and do not stop using the operat-
ing switch half way through the roof opening or
closing process. If the retractable hard top is
only partially opened, significant damage to
the retractable hard top could occur.

1. Make sure the trunk lid is securely closedbefore operating the retractable hard top.
2. Apply the parking brake and move the selector lever to the P (Park) position (for
the automatic transmission models) or
the shift lever to the N (Neutral) position
(for the manual transmission models).
3. Start the engine. 4. Push the CLOSE side of the retractable
hard top operating switch and hold it until
the retractable hard top is fully closed.
●When the CLOSE side of the retractable
hard top operating switch is pushed a
beep sounds.
● “ROOF IN OPERATION” is displayed on the
dot matrix liquid crystal display while the
retractable hard top is in motion.
● The windows will automatically be fully
opened.
5. Release the switch when the retractable hard top is fully closed.
●When the retractable hard top is fully
closed, a beep sounds.
● “ROOF CLOSED” is displayed on the dot
matrix liquid crystal display when the
retractable hard top is fully closed.
IF THE RETRACTABLE HARD TOP DOES
NOT OPEN OR CLOSE ELECTRICALLY
If you cannot operate the retractable hard top
with the operating switch, first check whether
all the following operating conditions are satis-
fied.
● The vehicle is stopped
● The engine is running ●
The separator is fixed in the position sepa-
rating the roof storage area and the trunk
room
● Make sure that no objects interfere with the
rear parcel shelf, the side flaps and the
retractable hard top.
● The trunk lid is closed
If the retractable hard top still does not move
under the above conditions or has any system
malfunction, see an INFINITI retailer as soon as
possible.
WARNING
● Do not drive with the retractable hard top
partially opened.
● When the buzzer continuously sounds while
the vehicle is being driven, immediately park
the car in a safe location and check that the
retractable hard top is not partially open
● If the retractable hard top cannot be oper-
ated properly, see an INFINITI retailer as
soon as possible to have your vehicle
checked.

To remove the fuel-filler cap:
1. Turn the fuel-filler cap counterclockwise toremove.
2. Put the fuel-filler cap on the cap holder
A
while refueling.
To install the fuel-filler cap:
1. Insert the fuel-filler cap straight into the fuel-filler tube.
2. Turn the fuel-filler cap clockwise until a single click is heard.
LOOSE FUEL CAP warning
The LOOSE FUEL CAP warning appears on the
dot matrix liquid crystal display when the fuel-
filler cap is not tightened correctly after the
vehicle has been refueled.
To turn off the warning, perform the following
procedure:
1. Remove and install the fuel-filler cap assoon as possible. (See “FUEL-FILLER CAP”
earlier in this section.)
2. Tighten the fuel-filler cap until a single click is heard. 3. Push the reset switch

of the combination meter panel for about
1 second to turn off the LOOSE FUEL CAP
warning after tightening the fuel cap.
