Check Back Seat For All Articles
When the system is enabled, this message
appears when the vehicle comes to a com-
plete stop, the vehicle is transitioned from the
D (Drive) position to P (Park) position, and the
driver exits the vehicle. This message alerts
the driver, after a period of time, to check for
items in the rear seat after the audible alert
has been provided.
NOTE:
This system is disabled until a driver enables
it using the vehicle information display. For
additional information, see “How to use the
vehicle information display” (P. 2-44).

Rear Door Alert is activated
When the system is enabled, this message
appears when the Rear Door Alert system is
active and can remind the driver to check the
back seat.
• Using the steering wheel switch, a drivercan select “Dismiss Message” to clear the
display for a period of time. If no selection is
made, this message automatically turns off
after a period of time. • Using the steering wheel switch, a driver
can select “Disable Alert” to disable the
horn alert for the remainder of the current
trip.
WARNING
Selecting “Dismiss Message” during a stop
within a trip temporarily dismisses the
message for that stop without turning the
system off. Alerts can be provided for
other stops during the trip. Selecting “Dis-
able Alert” turns off the Rear Door Alert
system for the remainder of a trip and no
audible alert will be provided.

Door/Liftgate Open
This warning appears when a door or the
liftgate has been opened.

This warning appears when there is an error
with the system. For additional information,

INFINITI Drive Mode Selector indicator
When a driving mode is selected using the
INFINITI Drive Mode Selector, the selected
mode indicator is displayed.
• PERSONAL
• SPORT
• STANDARD (2WD models)
• AUTO (AWD models)
• ECO
• SNOW

Low Fuel
This warning appears when the fuel level in
the fuel tank is getting low. Refuel as soon as
it is convenient, preferably before the fuel
gauge reaches 0 (Empty). There will be a
small reserve of fuel in the tank when the fuel
gauge needle reaches 0 (Empty).

Caution Steep slope
This indicator appears, and a chime sounds
when the automatic brake hold function is
activated while the vehicle is on a steep hill.
Apply the foot brake to stop the vehicle mov-
ing. For additional information, see “Auto-
matic brake hold” (P. 5-27).
Chassis Control System Error See
Owner’s Manual
This warning appears if the chassis control
module detects a malfunction in the chassis
control system. Have the system checked.
It is recommended that you visit an INFINITI
retailer for this service. For additional infor-

Door/Liftgate Open
This warning appears when a door or the
liftgate has been opened.
Electric shift control system
indicator
This indicator appears when a malfunction
occurs in the electric shift control system.
When the master warning indicator appears,
the chime sounds and the following message
is displayed in the vehicle information display:
“When parked apply parking brake”.
When the ignition is placed in the OFF posi-
tion, the chime sounds continuously. Ensure
the parking brake is applied

A warning chime will sound if the shift posi-
tion is moved out of P (Park) and the vehicle is
beginning to move, during a power open
operation.Power Close:
The power liftgate automatically moves from
the fully open position to the secondary po-
sition. When the liftgate reaches the second-
ary position, the cinching motor engages and
pulls the liftgate to its primary latch position.
Power close takes approximately7–10sec-
onds. The power close feature can be acti-
vated by the button on the Intelligent Key, the
instrument panel switch, the liftgate close
switch
OBor the liftgate lock switchOC.A
chime sounds to indicate the power close
sequence has been started. • If the liftgate opener switch
OAis activated
while the cinching motor is engaged, the
cinching motor will disengage and release
the latch.
• The Intelligent Key button must be held for 1 second before the liftgate closes.
• When the Intelligent Key is in range and the liftgate lock switch
OCis activated the lift-
gate will begin to close and all doors will
lock.
Stop - Reverse:
During the open/close movement, the lift-
gate can be stopped if the Intelligent Key,
instrument panel or liftgate opener switch
OA, liftgate close switchOBor liftgate lock
switch
OCis pushed. The liftgate can be re-
versed if the Intelligent Key, instrument panel,
liftgate opener switch
OAor liftgate lock
switch
OCis pushed again.
Auto Reverse:
If an obstacle is detected during power open
or power close, a warning chime will sound
and the liftgate will reverse direction and re-
turn to the full open or full close position. If a
second obstacle is detected, the liftgate mo-
tion will stop and the liftgate will enter
manual mode.

A pinch strip is mounted on each side of the
liftgate. If an obstacle is detected by a pinch
strip during power close, the liftgate will
reverse direction and return to the full open
position.
NOTE:
If the pinch strip is damaged or removed, the
power close function will not operate.
WARNING
There are some small distances immedi-
ately before the closed position which can-
not be detected. Make sure that all passen-
gers have their hands, etc., inside the
vehicle before closing the liftgate.
If the liftgate power operation fails to close
correctly, it can still be manually closed and
secured. If the liftgate fails to open correctly
when the request switch is pressed, please
visit your local INFINITI retailer for
assistance.
If the liftgate is not functioning, the gate may
be closed manually. If power operation does
not recover, please make an appointment
with your INFINITI retailer.
MOTION-ACTIVATED LIFTGATE
(if so equipped)
The liftgate can be operated using a quick
kicking motion under the center of the rear
bumper.
To operate, the Intelligent Key must be within
31.5 in (80 cm) of the liftgate.
NOTE:
Tow hitches are available as an accessory for
this vehicle. Please visit an INFINITI retailer
for additional equipment required for this
accessory.
Proper operation technique
• While at the rear of the vehicle, begin mak- ing a quick forward kicking motion.
• Raise your foot straight under the center of the rear bumper then immediately return
your foot to the ground in a continuous
motion.
• The kicking motion should be straight, smooth and consistent.
• After your kick motion is complete, step back and allow the liftgate to open/close.
