Do not connect the charging cableconnector plug to the vehicle if thereis water or dust on the charging in‐let. Connecting while there is wateror dust on the charging cable con‐nector and plug may cause a fire orelectric shock. There may be a riskof fire and injury when using oldworn out public electrical outlets.
WARNING
nInterference with electronicmedical devices
When using medical electric devicessuch as an implantable cardiac pace‐maker, make sure to ask the medicalteam and manufacturer whethercharging your electric vehicle will im‐pact the operation of the medicaldevices. In some instances, electro‐magnetic waves that are generatedfrom the charger can seriously im‐pact medical electric devices such asan implantable cardiac pacemaker.
WARNING
nTouching the charging connec‐tor
Do not touch the charging connector, charging plug, and the charging inletwhen connecting the cable to thecharger and the charging inlet on thevehicle. Doing so may result in elec‐trocution.
• Comply with the following in order toprevent electrical shock when charg‐
ing: - Use a waterproof charger
- Make sure to not touch the charg‐ ing connector and charging plug
when your hand is wet
- Do not charge when there is light‐ ning
- Do not charge when the charging connector and plug is wet
WARNING
nCharging cable
(Continued)
(Continued)
•Immediately stop charging whenyou find abnormal symptoms(smell, smoke).
•Replace the charging cable if thecable coating is damaged to pre‐vent electrical shock.
•When connecting or removing thecharging cable, make sure to holdthe charging connector handle andcharging plug.If you pull the cable itself (withoutusing the handle), the internalwires may disconnect or get dam‐aged. This may lead to electricshock or fire.
WARNING
nCooling fan
Do not touch the cooling fan whilevehicle is charging. When the vehicleis switched OFF while charging, thecooling fan inside the motor com‐partment may automatically oper‐ate.

1. Make sure the rear seat belt web‐
bing is in the guide to prevent the
seat belt from being damaged.
2. Set the front seatback to the up‐ right position and if necessary, slide the front seat forward.

CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM

System operation
Ventilation
1. Set the mode to the position.
2. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position.
3. Set the temperature control to the desired position.
4. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed.
Heating
1. Set the mode to the position.
2. Set the air intake control to the outside (fresh) air position.
3. Set the temperature control to the desired position.
4. Set the fan speed control to the desired speed.
5. If dehumidified heating is desired, turn the air conditioning system (if
equipped) on.
Operation tips
• To keep dust or unpleasant fumes from entering the vehicle through the
ventilation system, temporarily set
the air intake control to the recircula‐
ted air position. Be sure to return the control to the fresh air position when
the irritation has passed to keep
fresh air in the vehicle. This will help
keep the driver alert and comforta‐
ble.
• Air for the heating/cooling system is drawn in through the grilles just
ahead of the windshield. Care should
be taken that these are not blocked
by leaves, snow, ice or other obstruc‐
tions.
• To prevent interior fog on the wind‐ shield, set the air intake control to
the fresh air position and fan speed
to the desired position, turn on the
air conditioning system, and adjust the temperature control to desired
temperature.
• If the windshield fogs up, set the mode to the
or position.
CAUTION
Operating the blower when the igni‐tion switch is in the ON positioncould cause the battery to discharge.Operate the blower when the engineis running.
Air conditioning
Kia air conditioning systems are filled
with R-134a or R-1234yf refrigerant. 1. Start the hybrid system. Push the air conditioning button.
2. Set the mode to the
position.
3. Set the air intake control to the outside air or recirculated air posi‐
tion.
4. Adjust the fan speed control and temperature control to maintain
maximum comfort.

Do not use the or positionduring cooling operation in extreme‐ly humid weather. The difference be‐tween the temperature of the out‐side air and the windshield couldcause the outer surface of the wind‐shield to fog up, causing loss of visi‐bility. In this case, set the mode se‐lection to the position and fanspeed control to the lower speed.
Defogging logic (if equipped)
To reduce the possibility of fogging up
the inside of the windshield, the air in‐ take or air conditioning are controlled
automatically according to certain con‐
ditions such as the
or position.
To cancel or return to the defogging
logic, do the following.
Automatic climate control system
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Press the defrost button (
).
3. While pressing the air conditioning button (A/C), press the air intake
control button at least 5 times
within 3 seconds.
The indicator on the air intake button will blink 3 times. It indicates that the
defogging logic is canceled or returned
to the programmed status.
If the battery has been discharged or disconnected, it resets to the defog
logic status.
Auto defogging system (Only
for automatic climate control
system, if equipped)
0+'-
Auto defogging reduces the possibility
of fogging up the inside of the wind‐ shield by automatically sensing the
moisture of inside the windshield.
This indicator illuminates when the auto defogging
system senses the moistureof inside the windshield andoperates.
If more moisture is in the vehicle, high‐
er steps operate as follow.

•Drive carefully and avoid bumps, holes, sharp turns, and other roadhazards, which may cause the ve‐hicle to bounce.
•Avoid sharp turns or locked wheelbraking.
CAUTION
•Chains that are the wrong size orimproperly installed can damageyour vehicle's brake lines, suspen‐sion, body and wheels.
•Stop driving and retighten thechains any time you hear themhitting the vehicle.
Use high quality ethylene glycol
coolant
Your vehicle is delivered with high quali‐ty ethylene glycol coolant in the cooling
system. It is the only type of coolant
that should be used because it helps prevent corrosion in the cooling sys‐
tem, lubricates the water pump and
prevents freezing. Be sure to replace or replenish your coolant in accordance
with the L

CAUTION
•Serious loss of coolant indicatesthere is a leak in the cooling sys‐tem and we recommend that thesystem be checked by an author‐ized Kia dealer.
•When the engine overheats fromlow engine coolant, suddenly add‐ing engine coolant may causecracks in the engine. To preventdamage, add engine coolant slowlyin small quantities.

•Working under the hood with theengine running is dangerous. It be‐comes even more dangerous whenyou wear jewelry or loose clothing. These can become entangled inmoving parts and result in injury. Therefore, if you must run the en‐gine while working under the hood, make certain that you remove alljewelry (especially rings, bracelets, watches, and necklaces) and allneckties, scarves, and similar looseclothing before getting near theengine or cooling fans.
CAUTION
•Do not put heavy objects or applyexcessive force on top of the en‐gine cover (if equipped) or fuel re‐lated parts.
•When you inspect the fuel system(fuel lines and fuel injection devi‐ces), we recommend that you con‐tact an authorized kia dealer.

•Do not drive long time with the en‐gine cover (if equipped) removed.
•When checking the engine room,do not go near fire.Fuel, washer fluid, etc. are flam‐mable oils that may cause fire.
•Before touching the battery, igni‐tion cables and electrical wiring, you should disconnect the battery"-" terminal. You may get an elec‐tric shock from the electric cur‐rent.
•When you remove the interior trimcover with a flat bed (-) driver, becareful not to damage the cover.
•Be careful when you replace andclean bulbs to avoid burns or elec‐trical shock.
