• If you press the ISG OFF button again,the system will be activated and the
light on the ISG OFF button will turn off.
ISG system malfunction
The system may not operate
when:
- The ISG related sensors or system
error occurs.
The yellow AUTO STOP indicator (
)
on the instrument cluster will stay on
after blinking for 5 seconds and the light on the ISG OFF button will illumi‐
nate.
NOTICE
•If the ISG OFF button light is not
turned off by pressing the ISG OFF
button again or if the ISG system
continuously does not work cor‐
rectly, have your vehicle inspected
by a professional workshop as
soon as possible.
Kia recommends to contact an au‐
thorized Kia dealer/service part‐
ner.
•When the ISG OFF button light
comes on, it may stop illuminating
after driving your vehicle at ap‐
proximately 80 km/h for a maxi‐
mum of two hours and setting the
fan speed control knob below the
2nd position. If the ISG OFF button
light continues to be illuminated in
spite of the procedure, have your
vehicle inspected by a professional
workshop as soon as possible. Kia
recommends to contact an au‐
thorized Kia dealer/service part‐
ner.
NOTICE
If you want to use the ISG function,
the battery sensor needs to be cali‐
brated for approximately 4 hours
with the ignition off and then, turn
the engine on and off 2 or 3 times.
WARNING
When the engine is in Idle Stopmode, it's possible to restart the en‐gine without the driver taking anyaction.Before leaving the car or doing any‐thing in the engine room area, stopthe engine by turning the ignitionswitch to the LOCK(OFF) position orremoving the ignition key.

Automatic transaxle operation
The automatic transaxle has 4 (6
*
) for‐
ward speeds and one reverse speed. The individual speeds are selected au‐
tomatically, depending on the position
of the shift lever.
NOTICE
The first few shifts on a new vehicle,
if the battery has been disconnec‐
ted, may be somewhat abrupt. This
is a normal condition, and the shift‐
ing sequence will adjust after shifts
are cycled a few times by the TCM
(Transaxle Control Module) or PCM
(Powertrain Control Module).
For smooth operation, depress the
brake pedal when shifting from N (Neu‐ tral) to a forward or reverse gear.

• On loose or uneven road surfaces, op‐eration of the anti-lock brake system

tance than for vehicles equipped with a conventional brake system.

•If the ABS warning light is on andstays on, you may have a problemwith the ABS. In this case, howev‐er, your regular brakes will worknormally.

CAUTION
•When you drive on a road havingpoor traction, such as an icy road,and operate your brakes continu‐ously, the ABS will be active con‐tinuously and the ABS warninglight may illuminate. Pull your carover to a safe place and stop theengine.

IF THE ENGINE WILL NOT START
If the engine doesn't turn over
or turns over slowly
1. If your vehicle has an automatictransaxle, be sure the shift lever is
in N (Neutral) or P (Park) and the
emergency brake is set.
2. Check the battery connections to be sure they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out when you
operate the starter, the battery is
discharged.
4. Check the starter connections to be sure they are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or pull the vehicle to start it. See instructions for L

EMERGENCY STARTING
Connect cables in numerical order and
disconnect in reverse order.
Jump starting
Jump starting can be dangerous if done
incorrectly. Therefore, to avoid harm to yourself or damage to your vehicle or
battery, follow the jump starting pro‐
cedures. If in doubt, we strongly rec‐ ommend that you have a competent
technician or towing service jump start
your vehicle.
CAUTION
Use only a 12-volt jumper system.You can damage a 12-volt startingmotor, ignition system, and otherelectrical parts beyond repair by useof a 24- volt power supply (eithertwo 12-volt batteries in series or a24-volt motor generator set).

Never attempt to check the electro‐lyte level of the battery as this maycause the battery to rupture or ex‐plode causing serious injury.

•Do not allow the (+) and (-) jumpercables to touch. It may causesparks.
•The battery may rupture or ex‐plode when you jump start with alow or frozen battery.

Jump starting procedure
1. Make sure the booster battery is12-volt and that its negative termi‐ nal is grounded.
2. If the booster battery is in another vehicle, do not allow the vehicles to
come in contact.
3. Turn off all unnecessary electrical loads.
4. Connect the jumper cables in the exact sequence shown in the illus‐
tration. First connect one end of a
jumper cable to the positive termi‐
nal of the discharged battery (1),
then connect the other end to the
positive terminal on the booster
battery (2).
Proceed to connect one end of the other jumper cable to the negative
terminal of the booster battery (3),
then the other end to a solid, sta‐
tionary, metallic point (for example,
the engine lifting bracket) away
from the battery (4). Do not con‐
nect it to or near any part that
moves when the engine is cranked.
Do not allow the jumper cables to
contact anything except the correct
battery terminals or the correct
ground. Do not lean over the bat‐ tery when making connections.CAUTION
nBattery cables
Do not connect the jumper cablefrom the negative terminal of thebooster battery to the negative ter‐minal of the discharged battery. Thiscan cause the discharged battery tooverheat and crack, releasing bat‐tery acid.Make sure to connect one end of thejumper cable to the negative termi‐nal of the booster battery, and theother end to a metallic point, faraway from the battery.
5. Start the engine of the vehicle with the booster battery and let it run
at 2,000 rpm, then start the engine
of the vehicle with the discharged
battery.
If the cause of your battery discharging
is not apparent, have the systemchecked by a professional workshop.Kia recommends to visit an authorized Kia dealer/service partner.
Push-starting
Your manual transaxle-equipped vehi‐
cle should not be push-started because it might damage the emission control
system.
Vehicles equipped with automatic
transaxle cannot be push-started.

12. Detach the hose from the sealantbottle connector and from the tire
valve.
Return the Tire Mobility Kit to its stor‐ age location in the vehicle.
WARNING
Carbon monoxide poisoning and suf‐focation is possible if the engine isleft running in a poorly ventilated orunventilated location (such as insidea building).
Distributing the sealant
13. Immediately drive approximately 7~10km (4~6miles or, about 10min)
to evenly distribute the sealant in
the tire.
CAUTION
Do not exceed a speed of 60 km/h(35 mph). If possible, do not fall be‐low a speed of 20 km/h (12 mph).

Call for road side service ortowing.When you use the Tire Mobility Kit,the wheel may be stained by seal‐ant. Therefore, remove the wheelstained by sealant and have the ve‐hicle inspected at a professionalworkshop. Kia recommends to visitan authorized Kia dealer/servicepartner.
Checking the tire inflation
pressure
1. After driving approximately 7~10 km (4~6 miles or about
10 minutes), stop at a suitable lo‐
cation.
2. Connect the filling hose (3) of the compressor (clip mounted side) di‐
rectly and then connect the filling
hose (3) (opposite side) to the tire
valve. 3. Connect between compressor and
the vehicle battery using the cable
and connectors.
4. Adjust the tire inflation pressure to 200 kPa (29 psi). With the ignition
switched on, proceed as follows.
-
To increase the inflation pressure:
Switch on the compressor, position I.
To check the current inflation pres‐
sure setting, briefly switch off the
compressor.
WARNING
Do not let the compressor run formore than 10 minutes, otherwisethe device will overheat and may bedamaged.
-To reduce the inflation pressure:
Press the button (9) on the compres‐
sor.
