751-2. Hybrid system

CT200h_OM_OM76135E_(EE)
For safety and security
There is an air intake vent on the side of
the rear right seatback for the purpose
of cooling the hybrid battery (traction
battery). If the vent becomes blocked,
the hybrid battery may overheat, lead-
ing to a reduction in hybrid battery out-
put.
When a certain level of impact is detected by the impact sensor, the emergency
shut off system blocks the high voltage current and stops the fuel pump to mini-
mize the risk of electrocution and fuel leakage. If the emergency shut off system
activates, your vehicle will not restart. To restart the hybrid system, contact any
authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped pro-
fessional.
A message is automatically displayed when a malfunction occurs in the hybrid
system or an improper operation is attempted.
If a warning message is shown on the
multi-information display, read the
message and follow the instructions.

■If a warning light comes on, a warning message is displayed, or the 12-volt battery is dis-
connected
The hybrid system may not start. In this case, try to start the system again. If the “READY”
indicator does not come on, contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional.
■Running out of fuel
When the vehicle has run out of fuel and the hybrid system cannot be started, refuel the
vehicle with at least enough gasoline to make the low fuel level warning light (→P. 5 1 7 )
go off. If there is only a small amount of fu el, the hybrid system may not be able to start.
(The minimum amount of fuel to add to make the low fuel level warning light go out is
about 11.8 L [3.1 gal., 2.6 Imp.gal.], when the vehicle is on a level surface. This value may
vary when the vehicle is on a slope. Add extra fuel when the vehicle is inclined.)
■Electromagnetic waves
●High voltage parts and cables on hybrid vehicles incorporate electromagnetic shield-
ing, and therefore emit approximately the same amount of electromagnetic waves as
conventional gasoline powered vehicles or home electronic appliances.
●Your vehicle may cause sound interference in some third party-produced radio parts.
■Hybrid battery (traction battery)
The hybrid battery (traction battery) has a lim ited service life. The lifespan of the hybrid
battery (traction battery) can change in accordance with driving style and driving condi-
tions.
■Declaration of conformity
This model conforms to hydrogen emissions according to regulation ECE100 (Battery
electric vehicle safety).
WA R N I N G
■High voltage precautions
This vehicle has high voltage DC and AC systems as well as a 12-volt system. DC and
AC high voltage is very dangerous and can cause severe burns and electric shock that
may result in death or serious injury.
●Never touch, disassemble, remove or replace the high voltage parts, cables or their
connectors.
●The hybrid system will become hot after starting as the system uses high voltage. Be
careful of both the high voltage and the high temperature, and always obey the cau-
tion labels attached to the vehicle.
●Never try to open the service plug access
hole located in the luggage compartment.
The service plug is used only when the vehicle
is serviced and is subject to high voltage.

CT200h_OM_OM76135E_(EE)
For safety and security●The intrusion sensor detects intruders or movement in the vehicle.
●The tilt sensor detects changes in vehicle inclination, such as when the vehicle
is towed away.
This system is designed to deter and pr event vehicle theft but does not guarantee
absolute security against all intrusions.
■Setting the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor
The intrusion sensor and tilt sensor will be set automatically when the alarm is
set. ( →P. 8 5 )
■Canceling the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor
If you are leaving pets or other moving things inside the vehicle, make sure to
disable the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor before setting the alarm, as they will
respond to movement inside the vehicle.
Turn the power switch off.
Press the intrusion sensor and tilt
sensor cancel switch.
A message will be shown on the
multi-information display in the
instrument cluster.
The intrusion sensor and tilt sensor
will revert to on each time the power
switch is turned to ON mode.
■Canceling and automatic re-enabling of the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor
●The alarm will still be set even when the intr usion sensor and tilt sensor are canceled.
●After the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor are canceled, pressing the power switch or
unlocking the doors using the entry function or wireless remote control will re-enable
the intrusion sensor and tilt sensor.
●The intrusion sensor and tilt sensor will au tomatically be re-enabled when the alarm
system is deactivated.
NOTICE
■To ensure the system operates correctly
Do not modify or remove the system. If modified or removed, the proper operation of
the system cannot be guaranteed.

achieved.
●Charge area indicates regeneration* status. Regenerated energy will be used to
charge the hybrid battery (traction battery).
*: When used in this manual, “regeneration” refers to the conversion of energy created
by the movement of the vehicle into electrical energy.
■Tachometer (if equipped)
The tachometer is displayed when the driving mode is in the sport mode.
■ECO lamp and SPORT lamp (if equipped)
●When sport mode is selected, the SPORT lamp (red) will illuminate.
●When all of the following conditions are satisfied and the Eco-friendly driving, the ECO

( → P. 1 8 1 , 2 3 7 )
• The vehicle speed is approximately 130 km/h (80 mph) or below.
■Engine speed
On hybrid vehicles, engine speed is precis ely controlled in order to help improve fuel
efficiency and reduce exhaust emissions etc.
There are times when the engine speed that is displayed may differ even when vehicle
operation and driving co nditions are the same.
■Outside temperature display
●In the following situations, the correct outside temperature may not be displayed, or the
display may take longer than normal to change.
• When stopped, or driving at low speeds (less than 20 km/h [12 mph])
• When the outside temperature has changed suddenly (at the entrance/exit of a
garage, tunnel, etc.)
●When “--” or “E” is displayed, the system may be malfunctioning.
Take your vehicle to any authorized Lexus de aler or repairer, or another duly qualified
and equipped professional.
■Customization
Settings (e.g. on/off operation of the ECO lamp) can be changed.
(Customizable features: →P. 5 8 9 )
NOTICE
■To prevent damage to the engine and its components
●Vehicles with tachometer: Do not let the indicator needle of the tachometer enter the
red zone, which indicates the maximum engine speed.
●The engine may be overheating if the high coolant temperature warning light comes
on or flashes. In this case, immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place, and check the
engine after it has cooled completely. ( →P. 5 7 1 )
