Air conditioning odors
During use, various odors from inside and outside the vehicle may enter
into and accumulate in the air conditioning system. This may then cause
odor to be emitted from the vents.
To reduce potential odors from occurring:
• It is recommended that the air conditioning system be set to outside air
mode prior to turning the vehicle off.
• The start timing of the blower may be delayed for a short period of time
immediately after the air conditioning system is started in automatic
mode.
nanoe *1 system (if equipped)
The air conditioning system adopts nanoe generator. This helps to provide
clean air and moisture by emitting electrically charged ions coated with
water particles through the front center vent on driver’s side
*2.
When the fan is turned on and is selected, the nanoe system is acti-
vated.
When the fan is operated in the following conditions, system performance
will be maximized. If the following conditions are not met, performance
will be limited.
• The , or air outlets are being used.
• The front center vent on driver’s side is open.
When nanoe is generated, a small amount of ozone is emitted and may be
faintly smelled in some situations. However, this is approximately the same
as the amount that already exists in nature, such as in forests, and it has no
affect on the human body.
A slight noise may be heard during operation. This is not a malfunction.

*2: According to temperature and humidity conditions, fan speed and direc-
tion of the air flow, the nanoe system may not operate at full capacity.

CAUTION
To prevent the windshield from fogging up
Do not use
during cool air operation in extremely humid weather.
The difference between the temperature of the outside air and that of the
windshield can cause the outer surface of the windshield to fog up, block-
ing your vision.
nanoe generator
Do not disassemble or repair the generator because it contains high voltage
parts. Contact any authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional if the generator needs repair.
NOTICE
To prevent 12-volt battery discharge
Do not leave the air conditioning system on longer than necessary when the
hybrid system is off.
Humidity sensor
Follow these points to avoid damaging the sensor:
Do not disassemble the sensor
Do not spray the glass cleaner on the sensor or subject it to strong impacts
Do not stick anything on the sensor
To prevent damage to the nanoe
Do not insert anything into the driver’s side vent, attach anything to it, or
use sprays around the driver’s side vent. These things may cause the gener-
ator not to work properly.

The air conditioning system will operate, and air outlets and fan speed will
be adjusted automatically.
“AUTO” will be displayed on the control panel.
Press “” on to increase the temperature and “” to
decrease the temperature.
When the rear seat heaters are set to “AUTO” mode, the system is oper-
ated automatically according to the set temperature, outside temperature,
etc.

Button lock function
Rear control panel illumination off function To prevent inadvertent operation, the but-
tons on the rear armrest can be locked.
Press until you hear a beep to lock
the buttons. Pressing again until
you hear a beep will release the lock.
The indicator appears on the display
when the buttons are locked.
Control panel illumination on the rear
armrest can be turned off. Press
until you hear a beep to turn the illumina-
tion off. Pressing again until you
hear a beep will turn the illumination on.

Rear window and outside rear view mirror
defoggers
On/off
The defoggers will automatically
turn off after 15 to 60 minutes. The
operation time changes according
to the ambient temperature and
vehicle speed.
Operating conditions
The power switch must be in the ON mode.
These features are used to defog the rear window, and to remove
raindrops, dew and frost from the outside rear view mirrors.
CAUTION
When the outside rear view mirror defoggers are on
Do not touch the rear view mirror surfaces, as they can become very hot
and burn you.
NOTICE
To prevent 12-volt battery discharge
Turn the defoggers off when the hybrid system is off.

Windshield wiper de-icer
Press the “MENU” button on the Remote Touch. (P. 442)
Select “Climate” on the
“Menu” screen.
ON/OFF
Select to turn on the wind-
shield wiper de-icer. The wind-
shield wiper de-icer will
automatically turn off after
approximately 15 minutes. Select-
ing again also turns the de-
icer off.
Operating conditions
The power switch must be in the ON mode.
: If equipped
This feature is used to prevent ice from building up on the wind-
shield and wiper blades.

When the windshield wiper de-icer is on
Do not touch the glass at the lower part of the windshield or to the side of
the front pillars as the surfaces can become very hot and burn you.
